part 3: jfr trial the indictment .
[note: if you do not have time to read the summarized indictment, then read my summary comments below.
jw views of the events: the society gives the jws the impression that the indictment against rutherford & company was all about the finished mystery book, and the prophetic fulfillment that all-important book played in the death of the two witnesses spoken of in revelation.
Here is some interesting trivia which sheds light on the IBSA's attitude toward the military prior to WWI:
1. Dwight D. Eisenhower was reared by loyal "Bible Students", and after graduating H.S., entered West Point in ~1911.
2. CMH holder, General William P. Hall delivered the opening address at the 1911 IBSA Convention. Later that year, he accompanied Russell on his famous "world tour". During that time, General Hall worked in the Adjutant General's dept in Washington DC. After he returned from the world tour, he was promoted to THE ADJUTANT GENERAL OF THE US ARMY for about 6 months. I don't know why the term was so short, or what happened to him thereafter, although I seem to recall that he didn't die until the latter 1920s. It's curious that the history of someone of his prominence is unknown.

god doesn't have an interest in that.
Thanks for the additional info and commentary, Marvin. I will revise my LTE to incorporate such, as well the KM citation.
Anyone else have anything else pertinent?
Again, I encourage others to write their own letter incorporating their own experience.
Thanks again, MS.

Just a little 'FYI' on the no trespassing thing...The latest "direction from the Society" on this matter is that witnesses are to avoid homes having "Posted - No Trespassing" signs. Although I haven?t seen anything in writing yet (Wt mags.) this is the instruction being propagated through the congregation elders since roughly Fall 2001.
Five Gospels
It would seem that such "new light" would have mentioned in one of the recent KMs.
Would someone please check such. I won't send the above LTE until I get some sort of feedback on this.

Will someone who reads "German" please look at this webpage and see "if and how" it relates to all the articles appearing in the November 22, 1998 AWAKE?
I can tell enough that the webpage theme is "human rights", and it contains much of the same material as does the AWAKE- too much to be coincidence.

I am planning on sending a revised (when I get time) version of this "Letter To The Editor" to THE AMERICAN LAWYER.
It will not be considered for publication, since I will not include my identity, (due to my not yet being "out of the closet").
However, such "feedback" is always read by the editors and article writer, so the "content" may pay off somewhere down the road.
Here is the addie, if others would like to relate their own experiences:
=================================================
Dear Sirs:
Having read Tony Mauro's article, "Supreme Advocacy: Church of Free Speech", I found comments made by Watchtower attorney Polidoro to be totally inconsistent with his own comments recently published in the "Christian Science Monitor"*.
Your article states:
"But Polidoro sternly says, 'We are not solicitors. We are not selling anything." He turns to the Bible on his desk and looks up a passage from Corinthians: '"We are not peddlers of the word of God."' For that reason, Polidoro also sees a distinction between requiring Witnesses to reveal their names and requiring salesmen or, for that matter, campaign donors to disclose names ..."
The CSM article states:
"Polidoro counters that there are easier and more effective ways to protect privacy. Residents could post 'No Trespassing,' and 'No Soliciting,' signs outside their homes and then prosecute anyone who ignores them, he says."
As a fourth generation Jehovah's Witness, this is not the first instance of "doubletalk hypocrisy" that I have spotted coming from Watchtower headquarters.
However, staying with this topic, let me say that I was trained from childhood to ignore "No Trespassing" and "No Soliciting" signs, which I encountered in the door-to-door ministry. The rationale parroted to Tony Mauro is the exact same rationale that I heard numerous times over the years during official JW meetings. As a Jehovah's Witness, I was even trained how to perform "hit-and-run" door-knocking tactics in apartment complexes, condominium associations, homeowner associations, etc. which had formally barred JWs from entry. My experience is not unique. 99% of JWs would relate the exact same training, if they were being completely honest with an inquirer. I make that last point knowing that JWs are also trained to "lie" when lies will further the JW cause. Such lies are dismissed as "theocratic war strategy".
It will be interesting to see which side of his mouth that Polidoro speaks from while before the U.S. Supreme Court.
fascinating case taking place now in ohio.. from http://www.jw-media.org/releases/default.htm.

This is just another bull manure episode of the WTBTS, in the Silver strand and Bay view congregations in Imperial beach California, some of the dubs, go up to Coronado, to harass *er excuse me* to conduct thier public ministry, and for many many years they have taken a list of all personnel involved to the local police station to inform they of who would be out in the town ministering (hehe) and just where they would be located. So whats with Scranton huh>
WELL, the answer to the question is that the WTS has been waiting for "just the right City and circumstance" to take this issue to the Courts.
First, when this whole thing started in Stratton, Stratton only had a population of 285 people. Not much of a tax base! In Stratton, the WTS thought that they found an opponent that they thought that they swamp-over.
Second, Stratton's Mayor stuck his foot in his mouth when he first stopped JWs in FS for not having a permit. I can't recall his exact words, but they were somewhat prejudicial against JWs, and the WTS provided the quote to the earlier Courts, and every newspaper that would use it.
There were likely other factors involved too. Past court decisions in Ohio state courts dealing with similar issues may have been favorable, etc., etc.
At any rate, "Goliath" was looking for a sickly, weak opponent to 'er "BUFFALO", but ended up fighting against a "David".
this danny pearl thing has brought home memories of murder to me(my 1st husband) please,please.......just say you care right now-nothing else.......please.i'm having a real emotional night...i had no one before.............t. todays affirmation:.
the complete lack of evidence is the surest sign that the conspiracy is working.

I am very much leery of giving any government the right to decide who gets to speak and who doesn't, even door-to-door. All it would take is some local government to decide they don't like, uh, conservatives, or liberals, or blacks, being able to speak to their neighbors about an issue, and suddenly the permits will not be issued. It won't have anything to do with criminals, and everything to do with idealogy.
IF the USSC's decision is favorable to Stratton in any shape or form, the Cort will do so in a way that guarantees that your concerns DO NOT result.

I believe this should pretty much confirm that the article, The Edict of Nantes--A Charter for Tolerance? was also intentionally inserted into the November 22, 1998 AWAKE as food for United Nations consumption.
This is from UNESCO's website.
===================================
"THE EDICT OF NANTES IS MORE RELEVANT THAN EVER," FEDERICO MAYOR DECLARES
Paris, February 19 (1998){No.98-31} - On the occasion of a commemoration ceremony launching the official celebrations in France of the 400th anniversary of the Edict of Nantes, which gave religious freedom to French Protestants, UNESCO Director-General Federico Mayor declared "the imperative of religious tolerance, prefiguring the recognition of human rights," formulated in this act of civil peace is "more relevant than ever."
The President of France, Jacques Chirac, also stressed "the relevance of this anniversary, first and foremost a message of fraternity and hope."
During the formal evening ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters yesterday held to commemorate the act through which Henri IV, King of France, put an end to the wars of religion in the realm, Mr Mayor pointed out that the Edict and UNESCO shared a fundamental mission to "institute, preserve and maintain peace founded on the intellectual and moral solidarity of humanity." But he added that "we are forced to admit that intolerance is gaining the upper hand." Therefore, he concluded: "The Edict of Nantes is more relevant than ever. May this fourth centennial unite us in the repeated expression of the wish to base our action, regardless of all our differences, on our common humanity."
In his address President Chirac paid tribute to Henri IV, "a man open to conciliation," for his action in favour of freedom of religion in a country ravaged by civil war. He recalled the historic background to the Edict and its consequences, before drawing "several essential lessons" for our times regarding "unity"; "authority of the state"; "good governance;" "tolerance accompanied by vigilance." He also said: "The 1598 Edict was a first step on the road to respect for other people and concern for their freedom and dignity. Our attachment to the Edict of Nantes [reflects] our belief in the values it evokes, first among them recognition of differences [...] The values and principles which allow [us] to live together must ever be re-stated and defended."
The organiser of the ceremony, Pasteur Jean Tartier, President of the Protestant Federation of France, said that "the obligation to remember does not consist in dwelling on the past but on moving on and bringing the past up to date." Monsignor Louis-Marie Billé, President of the French Conference of Bishops, noted that the Edict was "the beginning of respect for the freedom of religion, the basis of all freedoms." Pasteur Michel Bertrand, President of the Reformed Church of France, movingly recalled the three promises which "became reality but which we must keep alive: the interest of the community, the separation of church and state, and the social dimension of religion, in France and in the international community."
