Died Due To Refusing Blood Transfusion
by rrb2016 inwell, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.
she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.
i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.

"The Bunker" WT Conventions 2016 (Gag Me)
by Poztate inin the very near future the gang will be down in a bunker, cellar awaiting the police, military to break in and take them away to camps or executions .
(paranoid much) this is the foretold "prophecy" of the governments turning on religion and saving them for last.since the couple portrayed as simplifying their life by getting rid of a lot of material things is shown to be (about) the same age in the bunker we know it must be any minute now that it will happen.
i have been out for over 35 years and things seem to be getting more bizarre each year.. when did this doctrine really become main stream?

๐ I too still can't shake all the fear tactics this I was exposed to as a child. Terrifying.... ruined my mental and emotional stability. Growing up thinking that shit is normal??? No wonder I'm a mess, constantly working to undo the damage. This insane bunker video brings it all back. No way in hell I would take my precious babies to anything like this- so glad I got out of that awful cult! They won't have to deal any of that. -

How was your wedding? Did you have a jw wedding or something different? My wedding was not what either of us wanted at first, but it turned out very lovely. We wanted a beach wedding, same destination as our honeymoon, kill two birds with one stone you know? But my mom was close to the end stage of her illness and wouldn't be able to travel. So we thought maybe something small with the ceremony at the hall and reception at my parents' house.
But that wasn't going to be good enough for my parents lol! Nope, they wanted their only girl to have the big jw affair complete with a wedding gown, huge guest list and reception. I wanted to make my mom smile as much as I could, that was really important to me. Sure, it was our day, but I knew time with her was limited. All that mattered was that we were getting married.
Anyway, I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but we partied soooooo hard at our reception! Great food, booze, great music (nothing was off limits๐๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ) no boring speeches or line dances lol...it was great. My in laws still talk about how much fun they had.
It's a rainy day here in GA, so I thought I would share a nice and light experience.

I noticed the org. also started to have depressing interviews at the regional conventions a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if it was further back than that, but definitely the last 2. Where ppl would be getting interviewed on how they overcame losing their mate to a illness, accident, or some illness they have and dealing with it all while being a faithful servant. And for some of these ppl, it was very recent. I just remember thinking to myself, 'how is this supposed to make me feel good?' Very depressing stuff. -

Regional Convention
by raven inso how many are not going to the regional convention this year?
it will be my first year not attending as part of my fade.. i remember going for all of my childhood into adult hood, participating in stage parts even.. however, last assembly i was already mentally checked out.
i remember looking around and seeing all of people bobbing & nodding at the program talks that had been previously repeated time and time again.. almost seemed like hypnosis.. i also had a hard time with the fact that we're all supposed to be "friends" and everyone had always seemed to be so judgmental.. especially at conventions & assemblies.. things like who had the best outfit for the days, who looked the prettiest, who can snag the single ms brother.. who took the most spiritual food out of the program, how many times can you tally mark jehovah's name.

This will be my first time not going too. Last year we were mentally out for just a few weeks, but went because it was my in-laws convention too and my husband wasn't ready to spill the beans, which was fine. We left early all three days and walked around with our kids most of the program. -

1st Year not attending RC
by BeautifulMind ini feel relieved to spend that time doing anything else but sitting in a stadium for 8 hours with only an hour break listening to the same talks i've been hearing since i was a child.
not to mention trying to keep my young boys quiet so i wouldnt get the evil looks in my section๐๐.
lot of walking was going on for us to try and tire them out.

Then we had to park in a JW approved lot, most being a looooong distance from the stadium because they're controlling morons.
That controlling morons part reminded me of something I totally forgot! So it was Sunday of the convention last year and my in laws happened to be assigned to the same one as us. They got there and called and said they saved us seats, great. We ALWAYS sit together on the top of the elderly section with her when we have he same convention, never a problem. As we are walking up we get a text from her saying that the brothers made her give the seats up. And I'm like huh? What do you mean? She said, well he said I had to do it, so I had to follow the arrangement. WTH?? Who are they, the seat police??wow....she didn't even fight them on it! Like, why didn't she tell them that her son and daughter-in-law and their two TODDLERS were on their way up and we were sitting there?? The program hadn't even started and we were headed to the seats!! ๐ก๐กAnyway, we proceeded to walk around for an entire hour looking for seats. You know how had it is to get seats on Sundays. And during that time, guess what we saw?? Yup, we saw so many people saving seats. The program has been going n for over 45 minutes and we all know that after the program starts you're supposed to give up those seats. We asked the brother to ask them to move their things so we could sit down. The idiots didn't have an answer for that though, just said they couldn't do that. So heated ๐ก๐ก I can't believe we did not just go home right then and there. We did end up leaving soon after lunch.

Try Being Kind...It Actually Feels Good!
by EyesOpenHeartBroken inlet me start by saying that this forum has been helpful to me in many ways.
i haven't gotten involved in much commenting and i am not very assertive by nature so i've steered away from participating in debates.
but i have read threads often and had a sense of community.

Great post. If we all agree on everything, there is no way to see a different viewpoint. Disagreements are ok. But to your point, getting nasty and rude really is pointless. When I have those kind of comments on my threads, I just scroll right past it. Not worth my time to justify my thoughts and feelings. Now if it's just a 'I don't agree with that' type comment, let's discuss. We can always agree to disagree.
