Ugh Codeblue, that stinks :( I hope he makes it up to you...I've had that happen with my ex. He'd invite people over...I'd cook and clean up everything, and they would thank him for the evening.
Aude...that reminds me of when my husband and I go out to dinner. He doesn't have a check card to our joint account...the card we have only has my name on it. About half the time, when they bring back the charge slip to be signed, they will hand it to him. My first name is only a girls' name...but I know it is just a case of habit to assume the man is paying.

Has any wife hosted a party and her husband got all the credit?
by codeblue in.
how did that make you feel?
could you believe how "invisible you were made to feel" after you did most of the work, and received no recognition or appreciation?

Demons and the World's Largest Garage Sale, eBay!
by VM44 inremember the watchtower and awake!
used to print articles with experiences of how people bought items at garage and yard sales, and after bringing them home, were bothered by unseen spirits or demons?.
well, what is the world's largest garage sale in existence?.

LOL!
My husband is going on a business trip, and we needed a medium-sized suitcase. I found one at the Salvation Army last week in new condition for $5. So much better than paying $20 or more for one. I'd never been in there, and a friend took me along to look.
Anyway, I told my JW mom about the suitcase, and she said "I'd never shop from there. You don't know who used to own it. It could be possessed." I couldn't help it...I just started laughing at her. I told her I'd take that chance, and she quickly changed the subject. Maybe she realized how silly she sounded.
She's never reacted like that to anything I bought off of Ebay though. She's even had me buy a few computer related things with my paypal account (she won't set one up) for her. I guess they aren't pushing the idea that Ebay is bad in dubland. -

Car Wash Con Trick
by Englishman injust recently, i've been taking hl's car down to the car wash and giving it "the works".. that's multi-coloured foam, wheel wash, hand wash, screen wash, under wash, under protection and finally, dry and then hot wax!
all for 6.80. whoo hoo!.
hmm..the hot wax certainly does make it gleam, i thought.

I worked at McDonald's in high school. There was a young male cashier who would add to the total. Not on simple orders like one of the combo meals, but when people ordered several different things or on a big order. A few people over time complained, and my manager sat in the office with a calculator and a headset. He added up the orders and listened to what this guy said was the total...he was skimming 50 cents to a dollar on each one. When the manager confronted him, his pocket was full of change, and he confessed.

I don't know if it would make any difference, but I let my 3-year-old son pick out his clothes...well just his shirts as he doesn't care what pants he wears. I give him a choice of two different ones, he decides, and then puts it on. It doesn't always go smoothly though, but it is getting a little better. Luckily, since I stay home with him, we rarely are in a hurry to get somewhere.
Hang in there! Toddlers are trying! -

SO WHY AREN'T YOU AT THE MEETING THIS MORNING???
by Mary inwhat excuse could anyone possibly have as to why they're not attending the 2 hours + of boring bullshit partaking of spiritual food this morning??
as for me, i have a perfectly valid excuse: i'm doing laundry and baking banana bread this morning.
what are you doing sunday morning instead of being told you're not doing enough in god's service?

I didn't know they changed the farms. They had pigs and some other animals there when I visited. Back then, I lived in a big city (Baltimore), so farm animals were interesting to me. Now, I see sheep and donkeys, cows and horses every day.

Meetup.com is enforcing a monthly charge
by Nosferatu inhey all, just wondering what your thoughts are on the $9 monthly charge that meetup.com is enforcing.
i am the organizer of my ex-jw meetup group, and personally i feel as a volunteer, i shouldn't have to pay anything except my time, work, and devotion for a support group.
i'll be working on an alternative to meetup.com for my monthly meetups.. how about you?

::wow, I'am impressed, I don't even know (personally) 10 ex JW's here in the Netherlands....::
Well, CW, our group is for stay-at-home moms..not ex-JW's. We do have a pretty good turnout most days...and other times it is just the same 3 or 4 moms with their kids. We went to Hershey Park on Sunday for a special discount day they were having, and it was so fun to have people to go with and switch off kids with while going on rides. I can't ride many things because I am pregnant, but my son had a blast with his little friends. I even convinced my husband to come out with us on his day off!
I looked and there isn't one of Ex-JW meetups within 75 miles of me. I thought about starting one...but not now with these fees! -

I belong to a Moms group on meetup, and the charges were a slap in the face. We meet at least once a week, and the organizer puts a ton of effort into finding different and cool things for us to do. We voted, and we decided to host our own board on a server the one mom has and find a way to advertise ourselves locally. But of course, you can't please everyone, and people are complaining about this and that. Our group has about 30 members, and we have as many as 15 show up for things.

I've told a few friends who accepted the magazines at the door how to get to them to stop coming back...excuses they could use, doctrines to bring up etc.
If anyone ever said they were going to start going to meetings at the KH, I sure would give them an earful. Most of my friends have kids, and I would let them know exactly what kind of childhood they will be forcing on their kids. -

Happy Birthday Miss Peaches!
My mom always says "I think someone is another year older" on my birthday. I always remind her that means she is getting older too, and we laugh. She would never say "Happy Birthday" though..maybe sometime in the future.
I always call my dad (non-JW) and send a card on his birthday. He doesn't get anything from my mom, and I could never say anything to him on that day when I was a kid. Maybe this year, I'll get him a present too. I finally bought him a Christmas present last year after all these years...I didn't wrap it because I didn't want to offend my mom, but both him and I knew what it was for.
