Do Any JW's Believe The End Will Come In Their Lifetime???
by minimus ini believe most witnesses do not want to even think about this question.
confronting it is too painful for most.
look at the way the typical jw lives now.

I'd have to say yes. Definately. Whether I'm gonna be there long enough to see it through the otherside is another thing, thats becoming more doubtful as this system goes on.

If you decided to try a church, which one would you try?and why?
by LyinEyes ini have been thinking of doing something i have wanted to for along time, just to see, that is go to a church.
i guess i am a little afraid , or nervous , more than anything, but i feel i ready to venture out there and see what it is about,,,,,,,,,,,lol, i might not stay , i just want to try it.. i just want to give it a chance and right now i have no reason why i shouldnt if i go in with my eyes open.
i dont know what religion to start with,,,,,,,,, i figure this may be a journey on finding what feels right to me, or it could end up i stay home and do my own worship , who knows.. i know there are many christains on this board and i would be interested in hearing why you choose the faith you did, if it is methodist, catholic, baptist, or other mainstream ones.. i am also interested in other forms of religion some have choosen, and why?

I think if I went back, it would have to be to the Witnesses. (suprise!) I guess its in my blood. I sometimes talk to the PA on my ward who is a Mormon, she freaks me out way too much, and I don't see her showing much love, infact she's always bitching, last year I went to a Catholic wedding, and that was way too ritualistic and cold, Since being out I've looked at many Christian denominations, and even Islam and Buddhism, yet still my heart goes back to the JWs. maybe its just me. Oh and don't even get me started on BAC's!!!!

by shamus inare the witness numbers going down?
or, are they still increasing?
does anyone have any good data on this?

Tennyuck....... Look I'm not trying to argue with you, but all you type is speculation on points you state. Re-read the original question of the post, my reply, and your answer. And yes that "nice old man" sadly could be a molester wherever you might look in this sometimes sick world.

J.H ......... Thats a very subjective view again..... you see with your own eyes "out of 125,000 in your town" way fewer witnesses going door to door/being active/going to meetings etc <<<< but then you say "maybe the numbers didn't go down, but the quality did" ...... so what is it? The numbers did or they didn't? and how do you explain "Quality" from your point of view.......

Shamus..... JW numbers are still increasing worldwide, and despite what you will read here on the occasional post that a congregation may have been "disbanded" the numbers are still increasing, on the whole worldwide. This includes taking into account those who "fallen away" become inactive or outright left. Many here are naturally sceptical of JW data posted in the yearbooks, but a good point of reference is the website www.adherents.com which is independant. I do think a "bubble mentality" exists here sometimes, after all the very next poster seems to be x-jw as well! (and of course they are) We are so many etc etc similar to JWs at a convention, guess its security in observed numbers.

by RAYZORBLADE inhey, just in case you are interested in something less controversial, check out this link to national geographic's website:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/05/0522_030522_earthmars.html
it shows a couple of images from the planet mars, looking back at earth and our moon.

Rayzor......thanks for posting this. Its amazing to see just how small the Earth really is viewed from this perspective. I was always fascinated by astronomy. I'ts always fascinated me. Well that and along with anything dinosaur related!!. Thanks again Rayz.

Francois..... I'm not sure if its a JW or apostate mindset that prevails here, maybe a mix of both. But its really ok, All I see here is people, the majority who have been burned because of their association with JWs and they vent their anger. Some of the posts are so riduculous that they're laughable, most are from people who have spent a long time in and are trying to find their feet again in this world, and to those people I have every sympathy and respect. I read here all the time, and post where I see fit, I don't agree with the tangent that some go off on after leaving the Witnesses, but I learnt to accept that this is an open forum, and despite my view that the I still think its the Truth, I expect to be shot at for standing in the firing line of such people. I think the best way to help "lurkers" and trolls and maybe even twats (!).....is to get them to look at things aside and by themselves to see what is truly right, and get comfortable as to how they feel. Its better to get away most of the time from the "them and us" policy that carries on here.

Why On Earth Did You Ever Become A Witness & What Made You Decide To Leave?
by minimus ini've known for years that if i was visited at my home by jehovah's witnesses, i would have become a do not call.
i would have firmly but politely told the witnesses to never come back to my door and bother me again.
since i was raised "in the truth", i learned the religion from infancy.
