J.T thanks for that post, of course the hours "in service" must be difficult to account for as you say, who knows how long a return visit/morning in service may take with a visit to Mcdonalds in between for coffee break may take, and who puts what on their service report. But like you, I agree the actual numbers as in "body count" are accurate, and that does show an increase in the ranks of the JWs, as in new baptisms/bible studies/memorial attendance, versus deaths of JWs/those leaving ratio etc, all verified, regardless of the "15 minute rule" that some quote as an example of WT fabrication to increase apparent numbers.

JW Statistics
by ScoobySnax inok i'm probably way behind here but i just got the jan.1st 2003 issue of the wt and was looking at the service report and notice the 2.8% increase wordlwide, as opposed to the 1.7% on the last years report.
many here have posted before that this figure is somehow "fiddled" by the wt and is not accurate due to the new 15 minute rule, how is that?
i looked at an independant source www.adherents.com and note that they say the witnesses are meticulous and known as particularly accurate in their data, and even "conservative" in their estimates of membership compared with other religious groups who tend to inflate their numbers.

Amazing, I think you need to take a look at the website I posted www.adherents.com again under the group "Jehovahs Witnesses". It seems it isn't the WT that make claims to inflate their membership roles, as I said it states that JW records are "known to be precise, reliable and accurate, if even conservative" in their estimates, it does however state that other religious groups count there overall membership on occasional or annual attendance, and on some that may have been baptised into the faith who have since left, as in lapsed Catholics, Protestants etc (inc. even dead Mormon relatives baptised.....ok I made that bit up, but I heard that somewhere!) and I'm not sure how accurate attendance records help to boost tax exept status'......I need another beer

Danny, et al, I never claimed to have the answers
by Derrick inyou, farkel and others continue to mete out unfair assessments of the position i have taken because it apparently is out of sync with your worldview.
also, that remark implying that simon tolerates my posts as if my expressed beliefs are a nuisance on this forum are putting words in his mouth.
you seem to think that it's inappropriate to express views on jehovahs-witness.com that don't support the specific partylines of two major camps: partyline jehovah's witnesses as represented by the watchtower society or farkelline ex-jehovah's witnesses with strong steinhaugist underpinnings.

Well theres one thing we have in common deddaisy, I'm burning music too from Morpheous...... I can't answer for Derrick, I just found his post refreshing in that he questions the sometimes pack mentality that you get here, also a form of shunning and ridicule if you don't follow the un-written rules. I do however recognise and have to remember that this forum is for ex-witnesses on the whole (and some are very angry!) and that I come here of my own accord, so although at times I might raise my eyebrows and disagree entirely with what is posted, I usually let it go. I don't think Derrick is anymore self righteous, bias, judgemental or opinionated than the majority here, he just stands at a different angle from the majority, that doesn't make him wrong. Everyone who holds an opinion of whats right, and what they feel is right, could be accused of being the above from others who don't. For me, I'm inactive, and like to look around on the net to see "whats being said" if I disagree with you, it doesn't make me wrong either, of course you're entitled to disagree, and you are in good company here with many who will side with you. What's important is that you/others tend to condemn the JWs in that you were not allowed free expression in the KH if you disagreed, and were shunned if you didn't tow the line. Well it happens here too, almost in reverse. LOL ok lecture over, send me my pom-poms now

Of course its nothing to do with being JW. And thanks Alligator and Target for your posts. I know taht feeling of being in heavy traffic, I think its the feeling of being unable to "escape"....its like if I'm in a queue at the bank, I'm fine all the time in that queue because I know I can walk out if I feel strange, but the minute I hand over my bank book to the cashier I'm thinking hurry up hurry up...!, its like I know I have to wait until its handed back. Sounds strange, but thats the way it is. Maybe its the feeling of not having "total" control incase you take a turn, I'm not sure. Going to work is a biggy too, I always feel much better when I'm there with all my work mates, its just the aprehension of going....... Just know that if you feel like this at times, you're not alone, that person in the queue behind you might be feeling just the same! Take care.

Breeze....hope you have a good time over here, been to Brighton a few times and its kicking. You won't see much of Scotland there though, the Train pass is an option you can take, but given the state of our railways, be sure to take an extra week vacation, there are loads of delays! Have fun though wherever you go and feel free to drop in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake at mine in Kent (look it up), and I promise not to smack you round the back of the head with the latest Watchtower mag!!
