Ridiculous statements in this weeks study article
by the truth is mine inmaybe it is just me but when i read this paragraph all i could do is shake my head and wonder how i used to buy into this crap and how people don't wonder what the hell the writers are thinking'.
"imagine what life would be like if god did not have love for mankind.
we merely have to look at the awful history of this world with its human rulerships under its unloving and wrathful god, satan the devil.

Yea but he needs to let us rule ourselves to prove that his way of ruling is best. Oh wait, how does god abandoning humans prove his way is best? Maybe his idea is to make our lives seem so shitty without him that no matter what he comes up with it will seem better. Although if the JWs are the best he can do I think I'd choose where we are now. -

Jw style encouragement - Return or perish....
by Tornintwo ini haven't been able to post much recently, just started a new job with long hours... but i'm thinking of you all and drop in when i can.
anyway i've been meaning to tell you about this because thought it would tickle some of you.... 5 months after my last meeting, i've just had two "kind and loving" 'come back' messages/cards from different people both using the same days text from dec. 31st which says: .
"it is not a desirable thing with my father who is in heaven for one of these little ones to perish" matt 18:14. jehovah cares deeply about all those who have expressed love for his name, even if they are not actively serving him at present.

Hey you must have been offended by an imperfect brother. But Jehovah has never done anything to offend you, so suck it up and come back. If you don't Jehovah will murder you.
Has Jehovah God ever done anything to harm me?
If he really did appoint the holy 7 then I would have to say yes. If he didn't appoint them then why should I come back?

The wonderful things you hear AFTER you step down as an elder!
by redpilltwice inwell, well, that was quite a heartfelt welcome on this site four days ago.
thank you all for the encouraging replies.
one of them was this one from magnum: "hey now, don't just pop your head in and disappear.

I find it interesting that they want to know why young people aren't reaching out but when they find out they kick them out. -

To all JDub lurkers: How can you continue to preach knowing that you are telling lies?
by macys inthis is a damn serious question.
you must know by now that jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 bce and that 607 was initially picked by ct russell by using his "pyramid scheme" measurements.
there is no hiding these facts yet you continue to preach this nonsense.

I don't know how anyone can sit through those meetings knowing TTATT. When I was DFed and had to listen during the meetings instead of talking to friends. It was sooooooo boring. Once I started learning it was BS it became completely unbearable. -

Living as Christians at the C.L.A.M this week
by Truthexplorer inthis weeks meeting under the section - living as 'christians', starts off with 'repentance makes a difference', which is a talk given by an elder taken from w06 11/15 27-28 par 7-9. in a nut shell it discusses those who have been disfellowshipped and then show repentance.
it then goes on to discuss reinstatement and how a certain amount of time must pass by before this can take place.
it makes the following point in the paragraph.. 'a disfellowshipped person is not automatically accepted back into the congregation after a certain amount of time has passed.

Now that the end isn't "any second now" they only have one tool in their toolbox to keep people in line. I do think in the long run this is going to be a good thing that wakes a lot of people up. -

Slightly different approach - JW my tradition

i noticed that many can't really free from the past in the org despite many years outside of jw.

I don't know how anyone can sit through those meetings knowing that none of it makes sense. I think the reason I lasted as long as I did is because I used to sit with friends and talk through most of the meetings instead of listening. -

Laugh-out-Loud BS from Insight Book
by berrygerry inhow would it be possible in 1,000 years to resurrect and educate the billions now in the grave?.
nevertheless, an illustration reveals what a simple, practical thing jehovah has in mind for mankind.
not to prophesy, but merely for the purpose of illustration, let us assume that those who compose the great crowd of righteous persons who come out of the great tribulation on this system of things alive (re 7:9, 14) number about 6,000,000 (about 1/1000 of earths present population).

They must mean love bombed by 33 brainwashed ones.
Even when they're trying to make an illustration they still portray it as if they have some special knowledge.
an illustration reveals what a simple, practical thing Jehovah has in mind for mankind.
Note that they didn't say what Jehovah "might" have in mind. It's stated as if, even though it is only an illustration and not for the purpose of prophesying, they know what god plans on doing.

Kingdom Farm in S Lansing NY sold for 2.8 million in March, 2015 - news article
by dropoffyourkeylee inthis is probably old news and was commented about in early 2015, but the ithaca news reported on the 3/15 sale of kingdom farm in s lansing ny.
this is the property that was directly across the road from the old gilead site, which had sold a number of years ago.
but about 500 acres still was operated by the jws as kingdom farm.

According to them that is only equal to building 2.8 kingdom halls. Not such a great score when you look at it that way. -

Reasons for doubting.
by New day insomebody mentioned in a recent topic that they had a conversation with a former elder whose breaking point was when the overlapping generation was highlighted in recent times and how he would never serve again until somebody gave him a scriptural reason to believe it.
i am in a similar position.
i have gone in the last 18 months from taking the wt study, leading fs groups, and doing talks on the mtngs to doing almost nothing, as i resigned a little over a year ago as an elder due to a combination of family responsibilities and huge doubts.

I think this new generation teaching is going to be a wake up call for many. I'm seriously half expecting a call from some of my old JW friends any day now. Even if they kind of accept it for now, it has to be eating away at their sensibilities. The only stuff that makes less sense is the stuff they surround the discussions with. The one I listened to went on about how Jesus wasn't using generation in a negative context when he refereed to this.
