"Deep down inside even they know it is BS." Discuss
by rory-ks innope, bungi bill's interesting statement from this post didn't take, so i'll start its own.. from my own experience, i hated the field ministry.
it might just be because of the kind of character i am, whatever, i never was able to overcome that feeling of dread every time i went door-to-door.
i felt aware of how much people disliked having strangers cold-calling trying to sell them something.

momentofsurrender,
That's pretty much what I was talking about. I am also speaking from my own experience plus a little hindsite. All these little things that didn’t add up in my mind but I refused to look at them because, in reality, I was afraid of what I might find out. At the time I would never have admitted it or probably didn’t even realize it. But you allow it to happen because you want to believe that in the end you will get the reward. I don’t think that is a specific to the JWs though. It is human nature. Look how many people will ride a stock all the way to the bottom because they just know it is going to make a comeback!

Bizarre comment about jw.org at SAD
by sir82 inrecently attended a sad.. bethel speaker was gushing about the wt's embrace of new technology, in the part of his talk warning about "apostate" web sites.. a loose summary of his comments:.
"and the brothers at headquarters have made it very safe for you to go to our website.
in fact, the brothers talked to the folks at google, and they made a special arrangement so that when you type in 'j w period' into the google search engine, it automatically shows you the jw.org website.

Who would search for jw. in a search engine anyway?
I get similar results in almost any search engine I use. duckduckgo, dogpile, bing, google etc
I get the feeling that putting the dot at the end just tells the search engine to search all the extensions .com, .org, .gov etc and return the most comon one if it finds one.
Yahoo also returned and advertisement for jwmatch.com. I saw a couple cuties that make me want to go back

What would the Watchtower Society do...?
by LogCon inwhen the economy collapses, and it will, worse than 2008, far worse.... ...what would the watchtower society do if a large group of homeless jw's starting camping out at wakhill, new york, perhaps in a large 'tent city'?.

You forgot the part about how they would first ask them to leave. Any refusing to leave will have dissociated themselves there by becoming apostates. Then they can be arrested.

Ananias, and Sapphira
by Quarterback ini always found this bible acct to be puzzling.
it's found in the book of acts.
it starts by mentioning that in jerusalem a need arosed to care for some christians who lived together as a community.

I always found that scripture a bit odd too. It just does'nt seem to fit with the new more loving god of the greek scriptures.
Seems more like a warning not to say you did more than you realy did rather than lying to cover up your mistakes.
I'd be very careful filling out my monthly time sheets if I was a JW.

I'm not sure they know it's BS, but certainly many of them are not nearly as confident as they appear.
If you believed something with all your heart and sole you would have confidence. It would show in every aspect of your life.
The majority are hedging their bets at best. We don’t believe in hell anymore, the morals are ok here and if it works out we get to live forever.
