The JWs over use the name, genericizing it to the point of being offensive. Well offensive if you are Jehovah. They don't seem to have any reverence for it. They even try to cleverly use it in the name of their religion. Yet after all these years, I bet 99% of the world has no clue what the term Jehovah's Witness even means. It wouldn't surprise me if half the JWs out there hadn't made the connection. If god is who they say he is you'd think they would treat his name with a lot more respect.

I am still not able to solve this God's name paradox...
by psyco ini am finishing to read the entire bible (nwt 2013) for my first time (my fault) and i wrote down hundreds, maybe thousands, of questions not clear to me, but one especially came in my mind meditating on god's name.. if i wanted to summarize the entire bible in one phrase i would say (even before the kingdom): god’s name sanctification.. god is jealous about his name.
he does everything for the love of his name, and he wants to be called and prayed using his name.
no doubt about all this (repeated several times in the bible), but it involves the pronunciation of his name.. god left us his name in the form of יהוה which is unpronounceable.

Have you ever seen who gets promoted to management from the rank and file workers? Not to mention, based on the rest of the article, it's probably BS or literally a one in a million chance. And have you ever seen a retail manager that looks happy? You couldn't pay me enough to manage a crew of unmotivated entitled low wage workers. Don't forget, management is a salaried position so you'll likely be working 80+ hours a week.

$15.00 minimum wage
by hoser inwhile we are talking about economic stimulus i thought i’d bring up the $15 minimum wage.
pros and cons?.

I don't know what the minimum wage should be but I feel like if your business model doesn't allow you to pay a decent wage maybe you need a new business model.
Also the minimum wage discussion needs to include a discussion about affordable healthcare. A couple years ago I had surgery. The surgeon's bill for 3-4 hour of surgery was over $20,000, insurance knocked down to $4000. Keep in mind this was just the surgeon. The hospital got their cut as well as the anesthesiologist physical therapy, follow up visits etc.... If I didn't have insurance I would have been toast no matter what kind of job I was working.

new series "The Good News According to Jesus"
by neat blue dog inthis concept was leaked here not too long ago, and it was just announced at the next section of the 'annual meeting' on jw broadcasting.
they allude to it being a half hour series and say that it will cover literally every detail in all four gospels in chronological order through the course of all episodes.
they also insinuate that it's the most ambitious project yet (i guess making use of that new media production facility).

Makes me wonder exactly how long this last picosecond of the last nanosecond, of the last microsecond, of the last millisecond of the last centisecond of the last desisecond of the last second of the last minute of the last hour of the last of the last of the last of the last of the last days is going to last. -

Bathing Daily Doesn’t Help The Planet
by minimus inthe new york times as well as other news agencies are reporting that in order to help save the planet we should limit our daily bathing.
they say daily bathing really because popular in the 20th century because elites decided to impress and use petroleum based soaps and take advantage of their indoor plumbing.
a lot of this daily bathing ritual was just for show.

SouthCenral, I believe the show Freaks and Geeks brought up trimethylmaneria and it seemed a lot more understanding and loving than "the brother's" comments.
On a side note I saw an article that mentioned we might want to think twice before replying to an email with "thanks" because of the wasted resources. Kind of ironic since email was supposed to be the savior of the planet since we wouldn't need to print and send paper documents anymore.

Not sure if this is the type of stuff you are referring to but the books of Kings and Judges come to mind as being full of hyperbole.

Caitlyn Jenner for California Governor
by LoveUniHateExams inremember when caitlyn jenner came out as a trans woman a few years ago?.
it was stunning and brave, i'm sure you'll agree.. well, a good portion of her congratulators are now dreading the prospect of jenner becoming california governor.. you see, jenner is a republican, and has come out and said that trans women competing in women's sports is unfair (which is correct and a breath of fresh air).. so now trans people and their allies are getting ready with the smelling salts in case transwoman caitlyn jenner wins the race.

Didn't Jenner get outed for playing exclusively in women's golf competitions?
It's hard for me to believe this person isn't doig whatever it takes to get back some of the infamy that came from being associated with the Karashians.

Double Speak from last night's CLAM
by eyeslice innow that there are no meetings to physically attend, i am in a position where i listen in to my wife's zoom calls.
i thought some of the ideas in last week's clam were a bit strange, for instance they harped on about being 'friendly' to non-jws but not to become 'friends' with them.
the poignant question being put to the audience; 'what is the difference between being friendly to an unbeliever and being his friend?'.

Good thing Priya didn't also happen to be a JW who's father wasn't reaching out for privileges, or worse yet, an unbeliever. And forget about it there was another JW in the class with Priya and Sophia. Mean worldly kids on one side, gossiping JWs on the other.
Do any of the videos have legitimate interactions between JW families? The few I've seen always seem to be just Sophia's family against the world.

Will you be giving a 'Witness' when your name appears in the obituary?
by was a new boy in'he remained faithful to jehovah up to his death.'.
i guess that means he never got in trouble with the elders.. .
'he enjoyed spreading the good news about god's kingdom and helping others...'.
-

They just do that to save on postage for the ghoulish JWs that peruse the obits for their letter writing campaigns.
You know because they are so loving and thoughtful.

The new definition of a generation. They are up to two full lifetimes with just a smidgen of overlap.
It's so stupid it seems to be\have an agenda that I'm not quite sure what it is.
