Not to start a conspiracy theory - but maybe Putin engineered the Sarin attack to test the will of Obama. It has been suggested that Berezovfsky hatched the plan to blow up poor residential apartment buildings in Moscow to make it look like the Chechens did it. Those bombings were the pretext for Putin's attack on Chechnya which elevated him in the eyes of the public solidifying his chance of winning the elections that took place that spring.

The Watchtower has been a very useful tool to discover a more coherent view of Bible prophecy.
This doesn't mean they have it right! But, they seem to be uncannily wrong on everything they try to interpret. To get it right just make sure you look in a different direction from the Watchtower.
Putin's behavior fits the role of the King of Fierce Countenance at Daniel 8:23
I like the NIV reading of Daniel 8:23-25

Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.First of all the Watchtower fails to understand that when the Bible refers to "a king" it is not referring to a particular nation but an actual person. So they jump to the conclusion that the stern faced King is the United States/Great Brittain.
Well there are three identifiers of this king in vs 23:
1. fierce-looking (some translations say "stern faced"
2. master of intrigue (some translations say "master of deception"
3. becomes powerful but not by his own power

Master of deception? How about being the head of the FSB (successor to KGB) Master Spy.
The third is kind of a riddle. He became powerful in spite of not having risen through elected channels. He was appointed by Yeltsin only later to have been elected.

Revelation says that one of the heads of the wild beast appeared to have been slaughtered to death but it came back to life. Soviet Union is the only major world power in modern history to cease it's existence. It is common to speak of "The Death of the Soviet Union". It happened in 1991 when Gorbachev was forced to resign.
The USA (Babylon the Great) has been in conflict with the Soviet Union for almost all of my life time. For a while it looked like Russia would behave itself and become as compliant as a lamb. But it has begun speaking as a fierce dragon - especially since Putin came to power.
The Watchtower keeps mis-translating and misinterpreting Revelation 17:11
Most translations say the "wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eight king and is ONE OF THE SEVEN."
Look at the Westcott and Hort translation.

The NWT says the eighth "springs from the seven" to make it sound like it is a composite of all the beasts the same as the League/United Nations . This fits their twisted idea that the United Nations is going to destroy False Religion (Babylon the Great). Compare the way the NWT translates the yellow highlighted section in the above scripture at Revelation 17:11 and the yellow highlighted section in the scripture at Acts 21:8. Why do they translate it as "springs from" in Revelation 17:11 and "one of" at Acts 21:8

The eighth king was indeed ONE OF THE SEVEN. It was the ONE OF THE SEVEN that got the death-stroke and revived to become an EIGHTH KING. As the eighth king it had a specail relationship to the "head that was slaughtered". "It exercises all the authority of the first wild beast in its sight. And it makes the earth and those who dwell in it worship the first wild beast, whose death-stroke got healed."
The beast that "was but is not" mentioned in Revelation 17:11 is the same as the head of the beast that appeared slaughtered but whose death-stroke was healed. Rev 13:3 "and all the earth followed the wild beast WITH ADMIRATION."Compare with Revelation 17:8 "And when they see how the wild beast was, but is not, and yet will be present, those who dwell on the earth will WONDER ADMIRINGLY.
The 10 horns that hate the USA/Harlot and join forces with the Wild Beast is the Eurasian Union that Putin is trying to build and which the USA is trying to prevent. Hillary Clinton as Sec of State said that the USA is determined to prevent the formation of the Eurasian Union because it's Putin's effort to re-establish the Soviet Union.
Of course most will discount Revelation and other Bible prophesies because there is no God and prophecy is just impossible. But it is at least interesting that there are some better ways to explain Revelation than what the JW's currently present.
Hey maybe they have time to put this in a talk and present it as "NEW LIGHT" at their big corporate meeting.

The number dying in Syria are small compared to the number of people earthwide that die of starvation, malaria, dysentery etc.
Why spend money killing people when you could save lives.

i would fall for just about everything.

One of my favorites is: Attacking Faulty Reasoning - A Practical Guide to Fallacy-Free Arguments. T.Edward Damer That book has been my bathroom reading for the last 15 years. I read it everytime I use the toilet. One Fallacy at a time. Read some General Semantics (Look it up) General Semantics drills you in the two most important questions: 1. What do you mean? 2. How do you know? Also learn the Neurolinguistic Meta Model. Next you need to read some books like I am right/You are wrong so you can cut back on being too argumentative. If you get too good at arguing you will lose friends and family.

The fallacy committed by the Watchtower when it attempts to distinguish "FALSE EXPECTATIONS" from "FALSE PROPHECY" is called the fallacy of "Distinction Without a Difference" This fallacy usually appears when someone has been accused of something but in order to avoid embarrassment tries to make a convoluted distinction between two expressions that are virtually the same. Clinton did that when he claimed he didn't have sexual relations with Monica. He merely had her perform oral sex on him and he massaged her vagina with his cigar. A person is free to assign whatever definition they want to terms, but if the terms mean essentially the same thing they have made a distinction without a difference. So let's see how the Watchtower does this. They differentiate having "false expectations" from being a "false prophet". Now think about this. How likely is it that you could be a false prophet without having false expectations. Prophets whether true or false vocalize their expectations. Expectation: the act of looking forward to an event that is about to happen. How do we know that they had false expectations? They stated their expectations publicly in talks and in their journals and other publications. So what's the difference between a false expectation and a false prophesy. Horse and Carriage. They go together. If the world knows about your false expectations isn't it likely that you declared those expectations. Why would you do that if you thought there was a chance it might not happen. If you declare it you probably feel your expectations so strongly that you feel you will be vindicated as a "prophet". That makes a person a prophet and in this case a false prophet because the declared expectation proved to be false. Even if they didn't qualify their statements by saying "Jehovah has declared..." they have positioned themselves as being the only representative of Jehovah. If they are truly "discreet" you would expect them to confine their proclamations to truth.
