Don't rule out a world scenario that they could interpret as fullfilling some prophecy. JW's are very flexible. They can instantly reorient themselves with "new light". You can be sure that there is always the possibility for a major world calamity. And it just takes a calamity to reset the clock.

Is The Governing Body Of Jehovah's Witnesses In Agony?
by metatron inwith every passing magazine and assembly, i ask myself, why?.
why does the governing body care?
the diatribes against college, against the internet and i-phones and vampire movies and afterschool sports and social networks and everything new, interesting or useful in the world, why?

Angels are taking the lead in the preaching work
by mankkeli inconsider one experience in which two kingdom publishers were accompanied by a small child.
at the end of the morning, the two witnesses were about to stop their preaching work, but the child was unusually eager to go to the next home.
in fact, he went by himself and knocked on the door!

?Salesmen talk about these experiences over martinis every night. In statistics its called the law of
large numbers. Play a little reverse Yahtze.
When we used to get bored with playing yahtze we would try to see who could throw the dice the
most times WITHOUT getting yahtze. Suddenly it dawns on you that NOTHING is impossible,
in fact everything is inevitable.
This is really stupid think.
Someone just posted that a hundred people a day are requesting a home bible study after reading
the Watchtower.org. They shouldn't be bragging about that in view of how long it took them to
make their website useful. Remember the website announcement with a 4 point font at the very
bottom of the back cover of the Watchtower and Awake? If angels were really directing the
work they would have remained at the growing edge of technology like ; photo drama of
creation, phonograph setups, nationwide radio broadcasts.
Think of what they could accomplish if the average publisher worked 10 hours extra per month
at their secular job and gave it to support a Watchtower broadcast satellite network. They could
be reaching those troubled souls 24/7 just like Pat Robertson’s 700 Club. Pioneers could be on
call ready to speed to the door of someone who is about ready to commit suicide. Instead they
approach information as something that must be controlled. -

Famous atheists explain why they don't believe

I have one simple requirement for the existence of a supernatural entity.
As a good father he ought to say something to his children once in a while. I would even settle for a jr. god or common ordinary extraterristial that could speak and do something unambiguous that indicates they have extraordinary power.
Nothing.
So why go through the motions of talking to Nothing. (worship)

Do more you slacker from July KM
by life is to short inthey still give my husband km for me.
i truly do not know why so i was flipping through the july one and it made me so mad, another example of us not doing enough.. "nelena, who is 19 years old and lives in bulgaria, had two desires-to be baptized and to auxiliary pioneer.
however, she suffers from hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy, which for the moment is incurable.

I love these extraordinary examples.
They show that most elders are the biggest slackers.
The 10 or 15 hours per month the elders each put in looks like a pitiful token.
You can't tell me that elders couldn't put in 40 to 50 hours per month if they quitwatching television, fishing, watching sports and fishing shows.
The beauty of quotas is that it actually functions as a throttle to exceeding the quota by very much.
Quotas probably reduce output by 80%.

A concerned JW wrote "mistakes will happen."

concerned jw, if mistakes will happen, i was wondering what mistakes you feel the jw organization is currently making?

If Jehovah is in charge there should be NO mistakes. Claiming human imperfection is "special pleading". The reason you want to be associated with a "spirit directed organization" is to be able to transcend human imperfection.
Clearly, the fact that NO human organization is free of error and indicates that NO human organization is directed by some divine being.
It's time for humans to realize that the more general conclusion is that there simply isn't a God.

Is it ethical to make rich pay more taxes?
by Lore ini'm having trouble getting behind the idea of making rich people pay more taxes just because they have more.. aside from the obvious: "i'm not rich so lets tax them instead of me.
" the three reasons i hear most often are:.
1: they may have "earned" their wealth but they don't deserve it!.

Isn't decreasing social security payments really a tax?
It's the old people tax.

I don't worry about the politics. Given enough time socialism will win out. It's inevitable. The 99% will get their share when the rich run out of consumers, and they can't find honest police to guard their perimeters. The poor don't need pitchforks and torches. They've got guns and gasoline.

The assumption is that rich people are rich because they work hard and take risks. That's bs. I know a lot of rich people that are incompetent assholes that are rich due to luck of being born into a rich family.
A member of society is entitled YES ENTITLED -
both remedial and preventive medical care including mental health care.
as much education as they can competently handle.
safe and adequate nutrition. (beans, cabbage, biscuits and rice)
transportation to and from work
safe and healthy housing.
Another assumption is that people don't want to work. People want to work. But they need compensation that allows them to purchase the above.
The rich are also lazy. Too lazy to come up with job creating uses for their accumulated wealth. That's why they keep chasing bubbles. It's hard work to build a company. It's easy to chase the latest bubble.

?My problem with this “philosophy” stuff is that it is so isolated from the biological function from
which it emerges. Animals have needs/desires. Animals make choices. Animals move. And
animals orient themselves.Aristotle, in his treatise on the soul refers to four capacities.
For the present let it suffice to say that soul
is the principle of the capacities we have named
the nutritive, the sensitive, the ratiocinative, and
movement.
Philosophy emerges from our orientational (sensory) system. It should give us orientation. If philosophy
doesn’t give us an adequate orientation then we are living blind.
It is un-wise to separate our functions. They are seamlessly connected.. Philosophy has to be a
“philosophy of” - philosophy of science, philosophy of government etc. How do you discuss
philosophy without having a “philosophy of philosophy”.
Philosophy isn’t dysfunctional. It IS the function of an organism having to do with our sensory
system and need for orientation.. Humans are dysfunctional. -
