Anyone got any idea how they do it? Do they understand what they are saying? Are they talking real languages or just jibberish?
I met a spiritualist today, hence my question.

would witnesses do anything they are told?.
what do you think?if the gb came out with a new policy, such as you must now spit at people who dont take the mags off you on the ministry, and give some obscure scripture to prove it.. would the witnesses do it?
or would they twig something is not right?.
They have already been pushed far enough to kill. They deny their own children blood because of what the Watchtower has told them. I suspect if you make too many changes too quickly then followers begin to question, but if you develop some new sinister stratagy over a number of years I am sure dubs would be pursuaded to do whatever the WTS tells them to do. You only have to look at what is happening in the Middle East. People will do anything if they believe they are right.
ps I loved your question from yesterday.
so what does the scripture "the love of the greater number will cool off" mean if it's not the big falling away from the wts in the last few years?
btw i don't remember the scriptural context but i have sometimes wondered about it - even though i'm a devout non-believer.. marilyn
Bang, Why not Big Bang btw? Yes I do see some Biblical application for Jehovah's Witnesses. Let's go with: "Many will come to me in that day saying; Lord did we not prophesy in your name... and perform many powerful works in YOUR NAME.... and yet I will confess to them; I never knew you, get away from me you workers of lawlessness.
Actually Bang I'm pretty much an athiest, so I guess I don't place too much importance on anything that's said in the Bible.

Hi Bang, Were in Oztralia R U? I'm in Melbourne. I don't think I'm psychologically attached to the organdization but I guess my quesiton looks like I might be. It's just that it fits our discription from a dub point of view. I really can't remember the context it was said in. I know how the dubs interpret it though.
I wouldn't know where to begin to convince you I'm not uneasy about the Troof according to dubdom. If it is then they are welcome to it. I don't think much of them or their God. I've been out 20 yrs and I have nooooooooooo regrets. Besides it's not me that's fulfilling the prophecy coz I left before leaving became popular :-)))))

Sorry TR - I'm with you now. Duh!!!

TR I presume you mean 1875? And Moxie, yes perhaps it's referring to old age? Or maybe it applies to people who used to like the Rosanne Show?
Marilyn
i guess i'm showing my age here, but do any of you remember the movie version of johnathan livingston seagull?
soundtrack by neil diamond?.
there is perhaps no better subtle indictment of the wtbts than this movie.
Yes, how is it that cults never apply this stuff to themselves? I think it was you who recently said: JWs (et al) equate belief with truth. I enjoyed learning that neat little thought.
Anyway I'm certainly old enough to qualify for the era of Johnathan Livingston Seagull's movie and book, but I think it was when I was totally entrenched. I think I even saw part of it but didn't understand it. Duh! :0 I will have to put it down on my list of must see video's.
If you are into provocative movies put Holy Smoke on your list of must see's. It's made in Australia, and it delightfully entertaining in an Aussie kinda way - but the underlying religious question is spell binding. Kate Windslett and Harvey Kitell are brilliant in it. It's a movie that examines a number of issues. I really wish more people here had seen it because I thought it was fascinating.

a lot of you might think this is a question strictly for the pagans out there, but christians have had totem animals as well.
merriam-websters defines a totem as:main entry: totem .
pronunciation: 'to-t&m.
I think this post is a bit too cerebral for me, but I'm a dragon on the Chinese calander if that's any help.

okay, i have a question for all you who think you are in love.
did you have to work really hard at capturing the person you in love with's attention or did it just happen?
was it an actual thing you planned or what?
Dear Forgetmenot. You either got it or you don't. Please hear me out. Both my children - a daughter aged 24 and son aged 22 are hopeless at flirting. My daughter sounds just like you and she wasn't raised in the Organsiation. Both my kids are good looking but just haven't got a clue about how to chum up to the opposite sex. Yet I was a flirt and still am - though I've remained faithful to one guy my entire life. I was 15 when I met my husband and he's an angel. He isn't a flirt but a fun loving, warm hearted guy. He knows I'm flirtatious, but sensible with it. Perhaps playful is a better word. I think the ability to flirt is either in your genes or it isn't. I get it from my Irish ancestery.
I really don't understand why my kids are so awkward around the opposite sex. My daughter blushes and is anxious about meeting guys. But like I say to her - just be yourself. If you are a nice person, with a good heart and kindly ways then nothing else is required. If possible do try to show a little bit of special interest in a guy if you like him. I know this because my son is too afraid to approach girls for fear of rejection. He needs encouragement. If you can try to see it from their point of view then you might not feel so uptight about it.
best wishes
Marilyn
