Watching the 'Apostate' World!

in south flordia yesterday and apostate found a money bag full of cash in her shopping bag when she got home.

the cash was in the amount of $3700 dollars, and was the stores cash receipts.

so said apostate called the store and reported the money, and then returned it.

Venice, clearly your mother was acting out of selfish motives. She could have kept the money, and lived it up for a week or two, but she chose the path of self glorification, seeking undue attention on herself, pretending to align herself with the righteous and seeking to hide her wickedness from the simple supermarket workers - who would be so easily fooled by her teacherous behavior. I think your mother is a very evil apostate indeed.

When Did JW's Ever Make You Feel Cared For?

so-called apostates are, imo, actually persons who have been refined in the fires of criticism so that their true personalities shine through.

apostates are the best, most loyal friends in the whole world.

they do not have to worry about whether something is right or wrong, they are free to act upon instinct, upon feeling, upon their innermost emotions.. not for them the wearisome, tiresome, boring old its either right or its wrong mentality that cripples the acolytes of the wtbts!

I'm not sure that I agree with anything you've said. I just don't think it's that cut and dried. Just because JWs treat apostates badly doesn't mean they treat each other badly. They are no better, no worse than any small community group. The usual undercurrents and bad feelings run riot - but so too do happy times with support and love when someone is in real trouble. The problem stems from them believing they are better than "the world", which clearly they are not. They are just the same as everyone else. Of course they should be better, if applying Bible principals is the name of the game.

I don't think apostates are particularly superior to JWs or any one else. I believe that when we leave the Organisation, we revert to our old personalities. We will have experienced a sharp learning curve and hopefully some major personal growth, but I don't feel I'm much different to my friends who I knew before dubdom and know again now. Time and experience matures us all. I like Apostates but I do not have rose coloured glasses on where they are concerned. Some of them are not my 'cup of tea' and some have the ability to make me feel wonderful. That's life. It's just the same as the community at large. It's why we draw close to some people and kinda ignore others. (it's our own little shunning program done with more finesse than the Org.)

I believe that the same ratio of decent people lurk beneath the skin of JWs as exist in the community at large. Let's just hope that lots of them find their way to freedom sooner than later.

Hi Alan, How are you feeling in yourself? It's a pretty big deal yeah? You seem to have a good command of current WT beliefs and have made an excellent account of yourself. It's a very frustrating business because at the end of the day they aren't interested in logic or points of view. Anything rational you say is passed off as the thoughts of Satan. How can you argue with that?

Anyway I just wanted to add my appreciation for the effort you put in and applaud you for your stand.

Sunny, I know how you feel. I've been shunned by my siblings for 20 yrs also. My disfellowshipping (for apostasy) dates back to April 1981! - So I'm coming up for 21 now!!! The only thing that happened to us last year was my older brothers daughter came to visit us and she was so lovely and happy to be meeting us. It felt completely sureal. I'm sure you and I could have a great old natter about how respective family troubles - thanx to the Troof!!!

My neighbour phoned me at 12.15am and told me to come over coz her baby was on the way. I had to look after the 3 yo asleep in it's bed. The parents left and the 3 yo woke up immediately and started crying. After 2 hours I had settled the kid and was laying there wondering when sleep would come. In walks the parents back from the hospital. False alarm or April Fool? Whatever!

My girlfr and I went to the Assembly Hall today

5 years removed from being inside the indianapolis assembly hall of jehovah's witnesses, 4 years from attending a meeting at the kingdom hall, this morning my girlfriend and i walked into the assembly hall.

we were taking an early morning walk in our jogging clothes in downtown indy.

she asked if there was anywhere i'd like to go.

Gosh it's lovely to hear the thoughts of so many newly outed (or ousted). I'm 21 yrs disfed for apostasy and the first 15 yrs were without the internet - just me and my husband and no other exjws to talk to. My husband was too busy getting educated (a Phd) but I seemed to go thru every emotional stage possible. Even so I don't think I could go into a KH or Assembly Hall even today. Even though I feel very sorry for JWs and I have absolutely no thoughts that they might be right in any way at all, I just wouldn't want to go into an arena that has caused so me so much pain and emotional suffering (family shunning). The other thing is that whenever I hear their rhetoric it makes me feel sick. I just don't have the patients for it anymore. I have also come to feel that they are soooooooooooo nice on the surface but it doesn't take long before they crawl out from under their veneer. And though I know they can't help it, I don't want to be around people like that. I can't help them so I'd rather stay away from them and leave them to their delusion. However I applaud coult for his ability to walk right on in there. Maybe it's the resilience of youth!

Will, I fear your latter explanation might correct. This subject is becoming commercially ho hum because it's happening every where. The WOW value is deminishing daily. Plus the JWs are such a peewee group - they can't really cut it against the Catholics who everyone knows. Personally I would have thought that Dateline could have created a lot more human interest if they'd done a story on Shunning. They could really rip at the public's heart strings on that subject.

Parents, A Rational Choice ?

i was a believing walkaway (1974 ) from the group, jehovahs witnesses.

i expected at some level that my walking away would be temporary.

:::::I've had similiar experiences in my family. I could never, still can't, tell my father something he doesn't want to hear. He's a child, 81 going on 4; stuck with the emotional makeup of a toddler. And I think you'll find that true of ALL Jehovah's Witnesses: emotional midgets.

I just wanted to comment on Francios's post. My father is 80 and I left the Organisation 21 yrs ago. For a lot of years we clashed over the WTS beliefs - even though I was d'fed (for no longer believing in God), my father used to ask me "when are you coming back to the truth?" and make comments like "you really know it's the truth". I always respected my father's mind because he would sit and read a TIME magazine from cover to cover or enthusiastically read the investigative articles in the newspaper but apparently his ability to critically analyse deserted him where the WTS was concerned. To make matters worse he'd suffered a major heart attack after I was d'fed and when ever we got into heated discussions he would have an angina attack. I was forced to back off a lot. I learned to pick my topics carefully and somehow over the years I have been successful in helping my father use his brain to think about what the WTS is really like. He's had a stroke more recently and gets a bit confused but in spite of his age and state of health, he knows what's wrong with the WTS. I'm very proud of him and it's proved to me that if you are patient and you demonstrate real humanity to loved ones they can eventually differentiate between WT truth and reality. I am sure that every case is different and it very much helped that my father and I are on the same wave length and have the same sense of humor. It just kills me when I make a witty oblique reference to something crazy about the Tower that my father is right there with me enjoying the joke.

Why The Queen Mum Is Such A Big Deal

a few people have asked me why the death of the queens mother is such a big deal, so here goes:.

in 1937, our king was edward the 8th.

he was the eldest son of george the 5th, and, on georges death, he automatically became king.

Englishman, The Queen mum had a lot of style. It's hard to imagine she would have offended anyone in her long life. She is one person who has left the world a better place for her kindness and graciousness. I loved that recent moment - probably last year, when she was attending some Royal function and she thought the person next to her had taken her glass to which she replied (on camera no less): "Hey that's my drink!" We out here in the colonies thought it was priceless!
