Marion_Nett checking in ...
Gosh - I haven't peeked in here in ages. Imagine my surprise to find that my absence had actually been noticed! Thanks, 7 for asking ...
Generally, I have just gotten way busy (like others have said - summer) ... and stuff. Also, I am always competing with my two teenagers for "my turn" on the computer - and seem to, more often than not, come up the loser! (Check out my time of posting this ...)
Anyway - I'm still around, but finding it hard to find time right now for more than a few minutes online ... Thanks for asking and love to all.

ok, since it was so easy to get on here i'm assuming that this place is also over run by wts critics...but anyway!.
i've read a plenty of wt mags and got sucked in enough by the whole thing to go to a few meetings and do a bible study( which i wouldn't really call a study, since we just read one of their books).i soon broke of the whole thing and didn't even read another mag for about 6 years...6 months ago i wandered into h20 out of curiosity and ended up reading up on the arguments against the wts.. i have a simple question, and its probably very naive to ask this...but why is wts so afraid of debate?...there are plenty of sites arguing against the wts...but none for, apart the official site which doesn't address the issues raised by so called "apostates" anyway.. if the wt has the the truth why dont they just refute the the arguments against them instead of shutting up shop and labelling anyone who questions them an "apostate?
" or from satan or something.. i'm really beginning to think that all this wt business is just waste of time, that if i were to go to kh and ask questions that i have, i'm more likely to be labelled a trouble making agent of satan rather than be taken at face value as someone with serious questions.
Roamingfeline:
My profile says 29 POSTS, not 29 years! I wouldn't be so quick to throw around that "L" word (liar), at least until you get your facts straight. (Although even then it's tacky.) FYI: I am 50 years old, have been a witness for 32 years, baptized in 1968 (you do the math - or on second thought - maybe someone else should do it for you.)
Here is the post of yours I was responding to:
It's not that she's a religious infant and not ready for "meat and potatoes" it's that she prefers ONE type of food with no spices in it.
The "one type with no spices" struck me as more of a dig than a "defense" as you say. Perhaps you didn't mean it they way it sounded ...? Simon is right, however, about not being too sensitive. I'll try to take that to heart.
Oh, and lest you next take issue with this ... I'm not from Andorra either. That was just my little joke - I don't even know where Andorra is. Is that a lie in your book also?
(Excuse the "sarcasm", but I'm not particularly fond of being called a liar.)
i've found it quite interesting talking to several young ones who lead double lives.
the sad thing is, i don't find these ones so wicked.
i find them basically good kids who got a little messed up because no one had any time for them, or attempts to relate were rather lame.. the irony is that while talking to one while he was smoking a cigarette, out of nowhere he says, "but i still believe its the truth".
Very few parents are "enlightened" and allow their children complete freedom to choose their own religion - particularily as teenagers.
That, and the rest of this thread, is a good case against "child" (including teenager) baptism, IMO. (See? I do have some ...) I would absolutely croak if my son asked me if he could MARRY at age 12 or 13; and we're told making a dedication to God is the MOST serious decision one can make, yet we're asking (and allowing) the above-mentioned confused, hormonal, rebelliously-inclined ... CLUELESS teenagers (and younger) to make that decision? Then - bear the inevitable consequences (for many/most) of that decision when the "foolishness in the heart of a boy" and that "bloom of youth" thing kicks in.

wAITING:
I do not share your views, nor would I insult another person by calling their religious views infantile. Personally, to insult someone because they have an opinion different from yours, and not necessarily wrong, is the infantile behavior.
Thank you. You are my new best friend.
Frenchy: A most reasonable presentation of your personal feelings on the matter. Now THAT'S the way to go, Guys!
My only comment on your post, is that I think they (the Society) chooses to use methods other that of debate to present that proof - that's all.

To BabylonSmurf: Ouch ...
I think that the few posts I've made on here have been civil - I have agreed with some "concerns" and (cautiously) opened up - a tad - about my own feelings. I am NOT interested in WT bashing, and try to stay away from those threads. My recent responses were to posts made directly to ME (and NOT in a particularly friendly manner). I agree with Waiting. Everyone here is unique in his or her circumstances and not to be judged. ALL should be treated with respect and if one disagrees with a particular post, he/she should do it RESPECTFULLY. And NO ONE should be subjected to attack and insults simply because they have express an honest opinion that may differ from that of the majority on the Board. Isn't that right, BabylonSmurf, SolidSender, and Roamingfeline?

No, folks - It wasn't a "put-on."
Am I allowed to disagree with you? I think constructive criticism is fine and dandy, but some folks here thrive on posting negative comments, no matter how small and petty. I think some of you have genuine concerns, but much of it is nit-picking, and downright disrespectful.
Why would anyone even THINK the Society would want to "debate" you, or anyone else objecting to their doctrines. The teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses is NOT going to change because a few voice their objections. Those who find their beliefs objectionable have other choices. When I said they have a "no debate" policy, I meant it. They never HAVE been inclined to debate - not with the media, not with other religious groups ... What would be the point. It has nothing to do with fear.
This Board is called Jehovah's Witness Discussion Group - not Anti-Witness Discussion Group - or Witness Bashing Discussion Group. So, forget the name-calling and the rock-throwing and -- DISCUSS ALREADY!!!
(We need Friend to come back - He made us think.)
what a sad bunch to spend all eternity with!!
doesn't anyone enjoy a little friendly competition?
hey, i don't know about you but i plan on doing something more with my free time in paradise than petting the lions.
Anyone into Trivia? There is a Jeopardy Online, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Online, and various other Trivia games. Like you, 7, I get hooked and can't break away. It's addictive! Almost has to be all or nothing for me. LOL
