  Minister for Legal Protection Sander Dekker criticizes the attitude of the board of Jehovah's Witnesses because they reject important recommendations from a report on sexual abuse, he writes in a letter to Parliament on Thursday evening.
  
  Researchers from Utrecht University (UU) published a report (pdf) earlier in the day about sexual abuse and willingness to report among Jehovah's. The community tried to stop the publication through the court because it is "scientifically and factually incorrect, defamatory and very offensive", but received zero in the complaint.
  
  According to Dekker, the jehovas deny that there is a need for new measures. He calls on the community to implement recommended changes.
  
  "Report paints an extremely worrying picture"
  
  Dekker says that the report paints an "extremely worrying picture". In mid-December the most important recommendations, such as the establishment of a hotline, would have been submitted to the board.
  
  "Instead of creating openness and recognition, the community decided to use time and resources to stop publication," Dekker writes. "It touches me that so many vulnerable victims feel that they are on their own and cannot find the way to justice and official aid agencies, or only late."
  
  UU carried out research commissioned by the Scientific Research and Documentation Center, part of the Ministry of Justice and Security.
  
  Researchers are calling on Dutch politicians to think about a law that obliges the community to inform the police about cases of sexual abuse. Dekker does not comment on this in the parliamentary letter.“

  in 1976 when i was a young lad of 6, fred franz came to glasgow and gave a talk in govan a suburb on the south side of the city (for those of you who dont know).

  our congregation hired a bus to ferry us all to the hall and it was standing room only.

  being only 6, i have only the vaguest of memories other than an old man shouting and bawling from the stage.

  I worked for a while at the Netherlands branch and we had Schroeder for a zone-visit. His wife who likes to speak Spanish had a long conversation with my than wife.

  He had a problem I think. In his meeting with us he kept talking and talking about his visit to Thailand and how grateful they were and how they grabbed his hand with two hands etc. The sad thing is we went into missionary-service because of his direct recommendation to the branch-committee that week.

  for many years since the witness organization, after i have told people that i'm no longer a jehovah's witness, people would say "oh the religion were people are not allowed to drink!".

  "no they drink alright.....they can't do much of anything else but they do drink!".

  in fact the first place i ever got drunk was bethel.

  I have to tell you that by our European standards I don’t think at neither Bethels I served nor missionary-homes drinking was that of a big thing. At most of the misshomes I lived (with germans and danish) at noon we had a bottle of wine at the noon-table. Most of the time I had a “aperitief” before that at one of the return-visits. And at night a couple of wines. So I can’t agree with the opinions to be frankly.

  so i am trying to understand if i am the only pomo that experiences the situation where the pimi spouse comes back from a meeting a different personanlity.

  it may not be obivious to the untrained eye, but i notice it and i know my sons notice it.

  this last round after all the loyalty bs and armagedon bs it's like she has stayed stuck in it.

  Don Adams has passed away

  i received a call from a friend in new york city that don adams passed away late last evening (30 dec 2019).

  many of you bethelites know him and he was the president of the society for a number of years after the gb got out of the corporate structure business.

  from what i understand, he was generally liked by many there.. some in my family knew him.

  many of you bethelites know him and he was the president of the society for a number of years after the gb got out of the corporate structure business.

  from what i understand, he was generally liked by many there.. some in my family knew him.
