Lee, you must know this plane was owned by a retired brother, I know who he is, hé even stayed at our missionary-home, to pick up the branch coördinator to go on an Alaskan fishing trip.
I cant blame them they went with him for Free, I would have done the same but those kind of brothers had no eye for us… yes, to stay for free at the missionary-home and use us as a cook.

GB members, believe it or not, did (do I don’t know) live in rooms. We had John Barr’s kindly offered room in Patterson for two weeks, just because we were missionaries and were temporally in his Brooklyn Heights congregation and had to live in their room untill another (smaller yes) was available.

Lee, the topic was about the writers. The GB does hardly if not at all any writing. I was in a congregation with a Watchtower writer, British, at Brooklyn Heights. No way this brother was living in another world. He knew exactly what was going on in the world and among the youth in this huge (300+ publishers) congregation.
About leaving, the last part of your comments. It is doable, I left missionary-service at 40. Now I would say I was just a kid. But at the moment you decide to leave you feel trapped. Far away from your home country, your family, and the only thing the society does is paying you a one way ticket home (because we did 9 or 10 years). But we did it, it is possible. Especially if you work in the USA in your own country. But you need balls.

Dumb is not the correct word. Most of the missionaries see no chance to leave their assignments. Your all totally depending on the society without money. A lot of my ex fellow servants must be now in their seventies, what can you do?. No children no money no home. It is so sad.
I wonder if those who are dumb enough to do missionary work will need those coronavirus shots every 6 months now. Have fun with that with missionaries working in countries like Burundi (where it is banned in the first place, plus they barely have the necessities of life) or parts of the Congo (where there is barely access to the outside world at all).
