JWs Not Allowed to Post on Websites?
by StandFirm inthis seems to be a favorite topic to bring up to any witnesses who post on any website where there are any opposers, either here or topix or anywhere.. so, here is the one and only place i will be discussing it.
who can prove that witnesses are specifically told not to post on websites about them?.

Such advice from the brothers is intended to protect the weak and less informed new students that may become confused.
" Now, what will you do if you are confronted with apostate teaching—subtle reasonings—claiming that what you believe as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses is not the truth? For example, what will you do if you receive a letter or some literature, open it, and see right away that it is from an apostate? Will curiosity cause you to read it, just to see what he has to say? You may even reason: ‘It won’t affect me; I’m too strong in the truth. And, besides, if we have the truth, we have nothing to fear. The truth will stand the test.’ In thinking this way, some have fed their minds upon apostate reasoning and have fallen prey to serious questioning and doubt. (Compare James 1:5-8.) So remember the warning at 1 Corinthians 10:12: “Let him that thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall .”" Watchtower 1986 Mar. 15 pg. 12 par. 7

The Watchtower's Society's admonishment about the internet is simply advice. It is not a sin to communicate on anonymous internet forums.
ummmm. . . . No.
What is involved in avoiding false teachers? We do not receive them into our homes or greet them. We also refuse to read their literature, watch TV programs that feature them, examine their Web sites or add our comments to their blogs. - WT 7/15 2011par 7, pg 16

This is another good article on the topic
"It would be a mistake to think that you need to listen to apostates or to read their writings to refute their arguments. Their twisted, poisonous reasoning can cause spiritual harm and can contaminate your faith like rapidly spreading gangrene. (2 Timothy 2:16, 17) Rather, imitate God's response to apostates. Job said of Jehovah: "Before him no apostate will come in." - Job 13:16." Watchtower 2004 Feb. 15 p. 28

Hey StandFirm
"I see this to mean that those who are exposed to apostate arguments who do honest research on them will see them to be false."
and I agree with you there. The watchtower makes it clear that all arguments against them are false, deceptive, and unconvincing, and that anyone who researches them more closely will be able to see how untrue they are. I wouldn't expect them to say anything different. however this article is not encouraging witnesses to go out and listen to the other side, it's basically saying: "No need to go and read apostate arguments for yourself, it's all a bunch of junk anyways"
Does Andre strike you as a good example to be followed, or a bad example to be learned from. His foray into apostate-world was not a valuable opportunity to critically examine his beliefs, it was "a bitter experience of being led astray". This bitter experience began because, according to the article, "He felt that having a quick look at an apostate Web site would not be dangerous". And how wrong he was. Andre's curriosity nearly cost him his relationship with god, but he was one of the lucky ones. you're meant to learn from his mistakes, not repeat them. -
