the gb grapevine news is that one of the older gb members conscientiously no longer feels he is one of the anointed (yeah i guess there's still one or two who still have a conscience) .
not a big news item but i found it very interesting, the "cracking" at the top continues!.

i was sent this email today from a student i talked to a while back.
the word is getting out and wt dos not even realize it.
just think when dateline airs how many hands will go up.. silentlambs .
Excellent work Bill,
It may be too late for many current 'lambs' to avoid butchery, but there is growing hope for a few more to escape. However the future looks encouraging in the prevention of slaughter at the mercilessness hands of the WATCHTOWER CULT.
Perhaps the walls of the TOWER will fall only after we are dead and gone, but your good name and efforts will live on into history.
Best Regards,
Martini
unfortunately, my wt library isn't working so i can't post an actual quote (i suppose the witness god put an electronic curse on it), however - do you remember those really good(?
) articles telling us how the witnesses have always used the latest technology in spreading "this good news" to all parts of the world?.
there was phonograms, photo dramas of creation, latest printing facilities and the first of it's kind multi lingual photo type setting equipment and so on.. and then came the internet, well i mean the proliferation of internet use as the internet has been around since the 60's in one form or another.. there are two problems as i see it with the internet:.
Hi Ballistic
"There was phonograms, photo dramas of creation, latest printing facilities and the first of it's kind multi lingual photo type setting equipment and so on"
Exactly The WT should have "pioneered" spreading the GN through this global medium! After all hasn't JAH stalled his Great Chariot <killing machine> and held bak the 4 winds of destruction so His witnesses could reach the entire inhabited earth???
The problem is your average JW trusts every utterance spewed through the "Faithful Slave".I never thought their demonzing the Internet was a self-serving thing.Rather I thought this advice was food at the proper time that Jehovah gave to Jesus who in turn gave the "FS".
Recall the advice about TV? How they advised that the spiritually strong do not even possess a TV. ONLY the spiritually weak allow themselves to fall victim to Satan's "One Eyed Monster" or "Thief of <study> Time". So today JW's feel it's good advice not to fall to the Internet as another of The Master Deceivers Tools!

skip starbuck aka mindchild .
many years ago on a spring day to pleasant to be outdoors pioneering, something strange happened to two jehovahs witnesses.
have you ever wondered exactly what it was inside religion that makes people kill each other?
HI Mind,
Interesting info, nice read.
I agree that JW's(aka WTS) are a very dangerous religous CULT.
None of your scenerios would surprise me, a split sounds very likely.
Sad to think that are so many "sitting ducks" being exploited by faith, especially the WT brand.I'm glad to be released from this particuler religious meme, except I fear in the end we are all very much "ducks" just the same!

several times in the past few days posters have posed the question:.
is there any hope for mankind and his screwed up governments other than god stepping in?.
its an interesting question, the answer to which has grave consequences for the human race.. if there is a god, we are powerless over his decision making process.
Hi joelbear,
Perhaps your topic should have said...Wait on God, only to fix it ourselves.
As humans, often we manage to get to the 'edge of a situation' and just before the fall we 'fix' our ways to where we are a little safer! Many crisis situations great and small, personal and universal begin and end this way, so it seems! Religious people add the 'God' thing into the mix.
So to answer your question JB, I suppose you and your friend Pascal are correct ...'God the repair man', is only a stratigic figment of our survival instinct.
Martini,
i was talking with a jw a few days ago, and he said that current events (natch) convinced him more than ever that soon the nations will turn on religion, and the great tribulation will begin.
he said that the current hatred felt toward islamic extremists, plus columnists pointing out christian extremists (i.e.
abortion clinic bombers) are also dangerous, mean that soon the tide will turn and all religion will be viewed as bad.. i responded that although extremists are hated, i've been amazed at how carefully the governments have differentiated between extremists and muslims in general.
Hi Seeker,
Now a days when I speak about the beliefs of JW's I don't sugar coat, nor do I beat around the proverbial bush. I tell it straight.I say JW believe for example that all religions except theirs is False, from the Devil, and will all be destroyed soon at the hands of governments but that God will protect the JW's ALONE. Amazingly the people I say this to, shrug their heads in disbelief BUT are nonetheless very tolerant of the humans holding these extremist views. If JW'S haven't succeeded in turning the world agaist religion, who will? What this tells me is that there is an enormous religious tolerance in the present 'old system of things'. Perhaps in the distant future,in my opinion under a 'new world order',religion will through a <quiet> revolution or evolution become extinct.

i am tentatively planning an event for all jw's/ex-jws who want to attend.. mid august, i would like to have a picnic either at wasaga beach (an hour north of toronto) or at toronto island.. a lot will depend on interest shown and where people are travelling from for it.. let me know who is interested and we can plan accordingly.
feel free to post this on other jw boards you may frequent.
"bad association" is guaranteed!
Hi Bro,
Kismet we would love to join You and Co. We are desperate for friendship. Wasaga Beach sounds inviting!
Toronto Island, for us has a ring of vulnerability for this sort of meeting, after all we are still running under cover from "The Committee".
Martini
P.S. Still looking forward to meeting with you.
after reading silentlamb post today, i was shocked to find out that 23,ooo elders stepped down in 3 years, which leads me to believe that others in cong.
would wonder as to wants going on within their cong.
then questions are to rise within the cong.
Hi nojw86,
I'm not all shocked at that statistic where it has been "said" that (2?,000) elders have stepped down in the last three years! Actually I wouldn't be surprized if thousands have stepped down each year since the expansion of the elder arrangement somewhere around 1972? The point is that there are always others more than eager to fill the empty spaces, even if just for "title"! Oh and especially so in western parts. Nowadays there is no need to wait for the CO's visit to appoint elders. I have noticed in recent times however that younger and less experienced men/boys are being recruited. What is more, some of these 'newly enlisted' ones that I have seen are indistinguishable from the "weak ones". Meaning their choices in conversational subject matter, attire and attitude towards rules is similar, much more real to life in THIS system of things. What this will mean from my perspective is that there will be no downfall as in an 'extinction' for the bloody WatchTower Printing Corp but that with time there will occur (is occuring) a metamorphosis of sorts, changing this religous/printing organization into one not unlike any other,on ALL fronts...including changes in the obligatory door to door/5 meetings/wk /DF'ing/blood theology.
Perhaps we know why, who, where and what will change but WHEN OR how soon? that's the big question I suppose.
Blessings,
Martini
greetings friends,.
i have just filed my income taxes and it got me thinking about the whole "true christians are to be honest in all things" mindset.
although i commend the jw religion for advocting honesty in all things for me this was a very challenging and exhausting experience.. for many years i was self-employed and finally gave up the business world because it became very difficult to survive without resorting to some unscrupulous business dealings.
Greetings friends,
I have just filed my income taxes and it got me thinking about the whole "true Christians are to be honest in all things" mindset. Although I commend the JW religion for advocting honesty in all things for me this was a very challenging and exhausting experience.
For many years I was self-employed and finally gave up the business world because it became very difficult to survive without resorting to some unscrupulous business dealings. By this I don't mean serious things like embezzlement or fraud, but simple things like declaring and recording EACH and EVERY transaction. Also NOT accepting any payment no matter how small without invoicing, etc. Often I had to pay the taxes out of my own pocket because the sort of customer I serviced simply was not interested in an invoice. Anyway to make a long story short, heaven knows I've done my best to remain honest, but doing so became an obsession of sorts where I felt God was watching every detail and I just couldn't be honest enough. Nowadays I wouldn't think twice to cheat a little as in not declaring all ones earnings for example. Tell me folks, is it common to be a little less than perfectly honest in this present life or are the JW's correct to point out that leaving the religion makes people corrupt?
I do believe as they say that honesty is the best policy, however I was just wondering where do YOU draw the proverbial line?
So how about it how are you folks doing in the honesty department?
Martini, who could have stashed the loot for an early retirement:)
i am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.
i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.
i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.
Hello Hillary,
Welcome to the board. I agree with much of what you say although your situation coupled with waht you describe does indeed puzzles me. I suppose I personally will be suspect until it becomes more clear as to what your 'motives' are for posting here. Anyhoo what you said about the extremist belief shared by many individual JW's throughout this Century has to be the main reason why so many others have also believed, such as myself.I have been told often that I myself was an extremist, you know the "live in tents until the city with a true foundation was setup" mentality. At the turn of the millenium I became One disillusioned zealot. A few clinks on a keyboard, months of contemplation and voila NO MORE pipe dreaming, hello to reality. Yes I would describe the whole JW movement as fanatical... a complete losing sight of reality. Thank God the Internet will yet save countless individuals from the masters of illusion that is The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Again welcome and I look forward to your insights,
Thank you,
Martini
