I have called on "inactive" (yuck, hate that word) ones and just talked about anything and everything and didn't even mention religion. Thats my favourite kind of call!

Yes, we sometimes hide when the witnesses come to call, but that's because everyone in my family are witnesses themselves and so the call is usually because they want to use the toilet - we then feel compelled to give them some coffee and a bite to eat!

Thanks for telling me your story MegaDude. I do feel like I’m from another planet sometimes when I’m at work; I feel like an alien at the KH too! One of the posters here has “Alf” as their pic, well that’s me too!
I hear my work colleagues talking about their lives and I can’t identify with them. I feel a big deep sad feeling in my heart when people talk about just their regular relationship stuff, because I can’t identify with it. I don’t generally lie about my life; I just kinda evade the truth. The thing is, they don’t open up to me about their lives that much because they don’t know enough about me – but there’s nothing much to talk about when you’re the oldest virgin in town! I’m working hard at nurturing some friends at the moment. I’ve got to make sure they get to know the real me before I talk about my family’s faith. Because of the reactions I have before had I’m very wary now.

he hasn't committed the "sin" in a year and doesn't plan on doing it again either.
he has been very strong and wants to get reinstated.

Its something that really gets into kids heads, it certainly got into mine. Those pictures in the publications look scary to me. Nobody in them looks real, they all look like grinning, moronic automatons.

The general procedure is that the DF'd one returns to the meetings and sits quietly at the back. They approach one of the elders (they can talk to any elder, but not any of the other members of the congregation) and ask to be reinstated. It usually takes a couple of months of regular meeting attendance, and a couple of meetings with elders. Then there is the reinstatement anouncement at the midweek meeting, after which they can then be accepted into the congregation again.
I can’t help thinking this is a bit of a metaphor for the JW religion. We are told to go to something that promises something exciting for ourselves, but woeful for others. Some of us selfishly ignore the warnings, but some come to realise that it was all just a big joke.
