He was always hoping that more people within the organization would listen to him while he was still officially "in the truth". The "Apostate" label would automatically be given him if he disassociated himself.

i have been very curious about a few things and knowing your willingness to help out us "weak" ones i have a couple of questions.. 1. are you allowed as jws to visit boards like these or is a matter of conscience?.
2.do you tell your fellow brothers and sisters that you come to this board?.

Prisca, your query - yes, this is a real bone of contention within my circle of JW “friends”. Amongst brothers and sisters on regional building teams, there are a lot of Pioneers – and it seems that a great deal of them seem to spend a lot of their time doing maintenance on Kingdom Halls and participating in Quick Builds.
I don’t know whether it’s a global thing, or maybe its just in London, where the need is particularly great, – but if a pioneer’s work was “taking them away from their ministry”, they would be allowed to count their time.
However, they are not allowed to count ALL the time they are participating in these kinds of activities, Pioneers are only allowed to count the hours “they would have done on that day”.
I’ve heard brothers and sisters murmur that some of these “Pioneers” are virtually inactive!

Prisca - you're a hero. It's just as well that all JWs aren't like you were, because the poor householders might possibly think that we were actually sane!
I can't believe that I still go out on the ministry and talk crap. What a hypocrite. How much longer can I cope with it?!
Anyway, I like to look at peoples gardens and get ideas for my own.

Birthdays
by Beans innow as we know the jehovahs witnesses don`t celebrate the "birthday"!
now when a baby is born that is the birthday and if you bring a gift to the new baby, that is a birthday gift hence the birthday is celebrated.
as we know the bible does not instruct that the birthday should not be celebrated so why not continue celebrating the birthday every year instead of the first one as the jehovahs witnesses do?.

Double Edge, I never got the chance to speak to him again - he never gave me any eye contact. I suppose I was lucky he didn't try and find out what congregation I was in so he could grass me up to my parents! I have to be grateful for these small mercies.

At work, there was always a collection for birthdays. I never refused to contribute despite being a witness, how could I be so mean?
Well, a little way along there was this new "brother" that started in the same section as I worked, I didn't know him as he was from a different congregation, but I was told that he was "laying down the law" in typical hardcore JW style.
A week or two later he was asked to put a pound in for a birthday collection. He refused, saying Jehovah's Witnesses do not do such things. When it was mentioned that I put money in and that I was a Jehovah's Witness he said this to the lady who was taking the collection: "He must be a very immoral person then, no decent Jehovah's Witness would do that".
Fancy saying that to a lady who only wants to do something nice for someone! She couldn't believe her ears. Lets just say he "shunned" me from that day on.

Kinda agree with everyone here - stupid for everyone other than the JW R&F - smart for the hardcore "speak to the hand" Jehovahs Witness. Do you get the impression that there is a definite siege mentality at work here? We have to remember that the more the Witnesses are attacked and abused, the happier they are!
Please bear in mind I am still an active albeit reluctant witness, so I am still in the thick of it!!

i went to a school for brainiacs, and was above average there--yes, i was a geek among geeks.

As a child I used to dream about the new order, and all the things I could see and do in the future. I have no doubt that the GB have similar deluded dreams.
When you are surrounded by lunacy, you drift off into cloud cuckoo land. I often really wonder how self-aware they are, do they have this weird sanctified, floaty feeling all the time? Is it a form of mass hysteria?
I guess I will never understand them fully.
