we were expecting a ten fold increase in publishers just before armagedon.
stories were being told of congregations growing so quickly they split several times, only had a ms as the po and there was standing room only at the public talks.
The Kingdom Increase District Conventions were held in 1984. We kept being quoted the scripture in Isaiah 60:22 time and time again:
"The little one himself will become a thousand, and the small one a mighty nation. I myself, Jehovah, shall speed it up in its own time."
We thought "Wow, we ARE a mighty nation, in number we are almost the size of Belgium!"

when resolutions were passed in my hall they always needed someone to second the motion and for there to a show of hands.
of course as a show of unity everyone would always dutifully raise them and the motion would be passed unanimously.
In my congregation there was one brother who would always vote against any resolution no matter what, but he was nuts!
Congregation resolutions are a marvellous example of democracy in a theocracy, very similar to so called elections in many islamic states.

Yes, unnecessary replacement of carpeting. I was in one congregation for 11 years and the carpets were replaced twice during my time there, and the wear and tear on both occasions was negligible.

Very occasionally I deliberately put my hand up a little too late, so that I was not the first to be picked - then whatever the first person says I would still say "Same comment". I'd then class that as my answer for the week. My mum wouldn't moan at me then because at least I "made an effort".

Oh, dub is also a type of psychedelic Reggae music with very deep bass. Do not confuse the two. Do not go to a Kingdom Hall smoking marijuana expecting to listen to the Mad Professor or King Tubby. And do not go to a Dub Party with your Kingdom Melodies CD's. It's unlikely you will be welcome at either.
