I've never personally met a sister that thought that the ban made any sense whatsoever, including all the female members of my family. It's one of the rare WTS stances that they feel happy to openly criticise. So we now have sister's as attendants at conventions, maybe this will be the next "gracious" concession that the GB give.

Epilsepy may B sign of demon possession
by badboy in.
so says the latest awake or was it wt.. mentioning the case of the demon possessed boy in matthew ????.
hearing voices isn't neccessary demon possession!

That's interesting, I'll have to take a look at that. I know Matthew and Luke disagree with the diagnosis and this has previously been explained away in that the boy was supposed to have both epilepsy and demon possession, but I don't think it has been expanded upon to such a degree before.

Should jws take part in censuses?
by badboy in.
i understand that when david tried 2 take a census,a plague broke out.. when a similiar census took place,a massacre of children took place,there4 should a christian take part in censuses

Great one badboy & rocketman - I'm always looking for examples in the Bible where two bad things happened subsequent to something mundane that JWs don't have a problem with to counteract their weak anti-birthday argument. I wonder how many other examples there are?

Assembly Food
by El Kabong inwhat are some of the foods you remember being served at district and circuit assemblies.
i remember every sunday was roast chicken.
also i remember them serving knockwurst and saurkraut.

We always had nice ice cream at the conventions, both circuit and district, in England and I remember the very long queues. In fact there were always long queues for everything.
Let me throw some memories for the UK posters here: Soggy ham sandwiches, Just Juice cartons that fermented and turned alcoholic, weird chocolate that you never saw anywhere else like Seranata bars (similar to KitKat but without the fingers), Hellas bars (disgusting plastic chocolate that didn't melt even in the hottest sun). Those bacon baps first thing in the morning - fresh ring doughnuts and warm Pepsi. Those were the days!

You can still go to WalMart to buy a gun to blow someone's brains out of course.

Cham black? Help please!
by Vivamus in.
was cham black?
i can't remember/find it, but i thought there was something like that in the bible.... i'm doing an essay [on history of racism], and i could _really_ use some help.. thanx!

A lot of girls in the council estate of my town have children of three different races, but Jah doesn't seem to bless them! Why wasn't Noah concerned about what his wife had been up to? I would be worried if I had one white kid, one yellow and one black!

According to Genesis chapter nine and ten, the whole of mankind is descended from the three sons of Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth. I presume that Cham is the Dutch spelling of Ham? I understand that according to legend Ham's descendants became the various black people who settled the African continent. Some more studious people here will probably expand on this a little more!

Dream or nightmare about the KH...you decide!
by Ghost of Esmeralda inif this doesn't speak volumes about my opinion of the morals of the majority of elders in the org.
today...and the level of hypocrisy, then i don't know what would!.
i dreamed that i was in the kingdom hall.

You must have been reading the "Draw Close to Jehovah" book as well, it certainly is the stuff of nightmares! Read something more kinder to your mind, such as Edgar Allan Poe or Stephen King before you go to bed!

Just popped my voting cherry.
by scotsman init's the local council and parliamentary elections in scotland today and i've voted for the first time.
the rain and voter apathy look harder to overcome than witness indoctrination as up to now the turn out seems low.. strangely, my jw family, despite their neutrality, are all keenly interested in how i vote.
i wonder if they could be persuaded to break the taboo.
-
Matty
Well done scotsman! I know it sounds silly, but I'd like to vote today, but I feel a bit scared to go into a polling station since I've never been in one before and I'm worried that I might get spotted by my JW friends. Stoopid huh!
