dontplaceliterature- Who was the seller you bought from? If Cynthia Franz was the return address she may know how we can get this book into Ebook Format, I have it in PDF but the format makes it almost impossible to read on Kindle.

Young adults who are disfellowshipped/disassociated and houselessness?
by Aaron Eldridge ini was wondering if anyone knew of any individuals that became houseless when they were disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves.
i know that i had to move out of my house within a few months after i disassociated myself, but i believe that if i did not have anywhere to go my parents would not have kicked me out of the house.. .

It really depends on the congregation and how intrusive the elder body is in the area. I have known kids that got DF’d at age 16 who were packed up and sent to live with their unbelieving relatives in another country within weeks of them being DF’d. in this case the father was an elder and he didn’t want to lose his position so he threw his son out of the house instead of giving up the title.
I have also know families who chose not to do this, the father was removed from whatever position he was in and the entire family was punished and subject to extensive eldering and pressure because of it.
There are some pretty strict and frankly ridiculous rules they expect the family to follow if they allow a DF’d person to live in their homes.
I guess to answer your question, yes I have seen people made homeless due to the congregation. Frankly I think it just reinforces the bad parenting that was already taking place. What kind of parent would chose a freaking religion over their own child? Its sick.

Blind_Of_Lies
I just went to Amazon to buy a copy of COC (not CAWK, COC) and I found that there were NONE available to buy brand new so I had to go through a seller… and the sellers asking price started at $133.92 and went all the way up to $900!
So, my question is… Now that Raymond Franz has passed, who exactly owns the rights to those books? I would live to see all of his books (and Hassan’s) not only being printed but also in E editions so people with Kindle’s and Ipad’s could download, read and delete if needed the books privately without anyone ever knowing. It would be AWESOME if we could get Franz’s books on kindle for free, it does not appear anyone is interested in printing them anymore.
Click here to see the book on Amazon

Do Elders Have A Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy During Judicial Committees?
by DT ini should point out that i'm not a lawyer and i'm not qualified to give legal advice.. there has been much discussion about judicial committees lately and how to handle and possibly record them.. naturally, the question of the legality of recording judicial committees is a concern.
my understanding of the law in the u.s. is that it is legal to record private conversations in most states provided at least one party consents to the recording.
in the other states, it is required to get the consent of all parties to record a private conversation.. however, it would be reasonable to ask whether or not a judicial committee is a private conversation and whether the elders have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

I believe that they waive any reasonable expectation of privacy when a few key things take place:
1. It is not a meeting between 2 people, but instead 4.
2. Notes are taken and a report is typed/written and sent HQ
3. A public announcement is made regarding the individual, this in itself would blast the privacy thing. It would also put a serious pinch on any claims that they are “clergy” and therefore are exempt.
4. Elders are now encouraged to push any victims of abuse to report it to the authorities. I would have to consult my copy of the secret elders book for details but I do know there are very exact rules on record and legal implications.
5. Regarding #3, any notes that are taken and any documents are not to be destroyed but instead put into a sealed envelope and labeled then put in the publisher’s file. Why do they need to do this? Your guess is as good as mine
6. Unless they make you sign a confidentiality agreement, there really is no “implied privacy” on their part.
Now, on the flip side… If you as a publisher have agreed to subject yourself to them and sit down for some sort of JC then YOU have can expect some sort of confidentiality not because that’s the moral thing to do, but because they claim the issue will be handled privately and confidentially.
The funny thing is, even in cases where no one knows the situation… people always find out… usually within days of a JC taking place.
I am no lawyer but That is how I understand privacy laws regarding the clergy in general.

I just sat down and tried to remember all the kids I grew up with. I figured the ones born from 1980-1995ish in my congregation growing up I counted 34 people in total, I could be missing some but I know for a fact none were double counted. Of those 34 people there are currently 6 that are not actively opposed to the JW’s. The remaining 28 are either DF’d and don’t care, DA’d by choice or just stopped going and are living their own lives. Several have kids out of wedlock or are in live in relationships non-believers, a couple are even in same sex live in relationships. Actually now I remember another family with 4 kids, out of the 4 there is 1 who is even pretending but she married a nonbeliever. Her siblings are all DF’d. Now keep in mind this represents kids born in a 15 year time frame from 1980-1995 and from ONE congregation. The neighboring halls in neighboring towns are no better.
I guess the moral of the story is that against all odds people of my generation are finally catching onto the nonsense and are willing to do something about it.

Apparently, I'm a feared apostate.
by DT ini disassociated suddenly and have have had almost no contact with the witnesses since then, so i don't have any way of knowing how notorious i've become in their eyes.
i have several blogs that are critical of jehovah's witnesses and although i don't use my name, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out who is behind them.. well, i recently heard a story that makes me think that i might be having some effect.
i have a friend i met at work who knew me when i was still a faithful dub.

Blind_Of_Lies
I recently found out that there was a number of people working in my office who were ex-jw’s. Apparently they all knew each other back in the early 90’s and all got DF’d when they were teenagers. The story I was told was that there was 1 guy who was not a JW who became friends with 3 witness “kids” and by kids I mean over 15 but under 20, he too was about this age at the time.
One by one these kids dropped out of the church, each one mentioned the one unbeliever by name during the JC process. According to the odd man out there was standing orders from the elders that if he showed up or anyone heard that their children were hanging around him they should contact the elders immediately.
This guy is/was an atheist, he also had drug habits, and he would bed anything that moved. Apparently this lifestyle appealed to JW kids more than anything else lol. In the end he got about 3 people out, those 3 people met and married their soul mates a few years later and now have awesome jobs, awesome families and couldn’t be happier.

It was about 5 years ago now, maybe longer but the city we went to convention withheld one every weekend for a month back to back during the summer months. The convention the week before ours there was a bomb threat made so they had heightened security. Whatever that’s worth. Anyway, one of the main guys who helped organize these wonderful events also happened to be my great uncle. He enlisted my brothers and I as being attendants during a special talk. The guy was from HQ, my memory fails but he could have been a member of the GB. Anyway, the guy arrived to the assembly hall minutes before it started he rolled up in an SUV jumped out and went in the back doors and straight to the stage then straight out after it was over. I/we had no idea who or what he was at the time our “mission” was to hold the emergency exit doors open so he could come in and get out quickly. We couldn’t hear his talk or into or anything and we found out after the fact from the guy we knew who was the planner that at least one of the guys traveling with him was armed. Apparently they positioned themselves on all 4 corners of the square stage that sat in the middle of a sports arena.
