Jesus' Answer for a Sign
by Friend inthe following was originally written as part of a response to criticisms against the belief that the synoptic gospel contains jesus' answer for a sign of his parousia that is realized today.
some of the language is then necessarily a bit unusual because of the originally intended audience.
lately this subject has come up in other circles so i chose to also post the comments to this forum.

1. Have Jesus' words found fulfillment or potential for fulfillment in our day?
No
What about dark ages lets look at average populations at time2. If so, according to Jesus' depiction, who would or could recognize that fulfillment?
The apostles especially John ie the apostacy spoken about was written and fulfilled in Revelation?
3. Finally, according to Jesus answer, is recognition of any sign of Jesus' parousia or "the end" necessary for salvation??
Dunno will research
The Pecher Technique for reading Hebraic and Aramaic texts acknowledges that symbolic language was regularly use particularly in situations where there was a need to disguise the detailed meaning.
Heaven was the Essene Community (actually the walled area in which it was housed outside Jerusalem). The head priest was "God" or "the Father" or "the Lord" (the translation is actually a bit blurry because Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic are languages with very few words compare to English (eg: "day" means any period of time..it could mean a day or it could translate even as "era").
"Son of God" means second in charge so can mean priest of god or second ranking priest.
I can't recall the detail of this..Edited by - maxee on 15 August 2000 23:36:15

I too feel like you describe. With time I have found that once again I no longer fear death. One thing is for certain in life " we will die". Whats beyond that I and everyone is yet to find out. I am no longer going to waste my life worrying about what may have been or what is out there after death.
Each day is a new beginning and journey for me now. A journey of learning and discovering myself and family and friends around me. A journey discovering more about the awsomeness of life the universe and our part in it. -

It probably doesn't. Another misapplication of the scriptures by the experts the WTBTS? I think it really applied to concetrating on spiritual matters as opposed to fleshly. Its very similiar to where the apostle Paul talks about putting on the new personality. I think it is in a figutative sense not literal.I don't have access to a bible right now (not at home) sp I wouuld be curious to here the thoughts on others regarding the application.

When I got involved with a non witness and started a sexual relationship the guilt was such a burden that I found I coouldn't enjoy sex. It affected my ability to be satisfied in the normal ways.
I see the application of such scriptures a form of verbal abuse.
Interestingly when we think about it the reason Jesus died for us is to take away the guilt that had burdened the Jews. He was a willing scape goat yet most well all religions today take back that sacrafice and inflict guilt upon us.
Religion is verbal abuse. It sullies our natural sexual desires. It abuses us and feeds off this guilt.
I agree sex is a celebration of loving some one intimately and a gift we can give to someone we love. -

I believe I don't have an abnormally low sex drive . I really feel that I was still practising that scripture subconsciously.
Its like it had been sitting dormant for years and now that I am aware of it I am practising thinking about it. It seems to be working -

I recently read a post on the net regarding how often men think about sex. I started to think about how often I did. I followed this up with a survey on antoher site and found I ranked low and they told me I had sexual problems. I disagree.
Now I was a single sister for 7 years in the truth. A wiitness for 10 years and a firm believer for a further 10. When I pondered on this question to myself I realised I did not think about sex. When it entered my head I pushed it out.
Now this is not a joke and I will not apreciate any innuendo's. What I had discovered was I was still practising the 'Deaden your body members' scripture single brothers and sisters are taught.
Any thoughts on this?Edited by - maxee on 27 December 2000 2:27:28
