FOOD PRICES!!! All these freaking speculation fueled price increases are getting out of hand. How, can we as a country (Canada) who PRODUCE a shit tonne of oil and sell it off, still be paying "market" pricing for oil? Makes zero sense. To boot, these speculators artifically drive up the prices. Now we just had a huge price increase here at the pumps overnight. Now it is at $1.40 per litre. ($5.29 gallon) Now, that we have Hapless Harper back in power, it will only get worse. I am at the point now, where I buy just raw ingredents and make most what I can at home. It has literally come to the breaking point for a lot of people. Fuel prices makes everything more expensive. However, most humans are just right out stupid. They continue paying these prices and do not change any habits, so there is no incentive for oil companies not to fleece them for every penny they can. Until a lot of people change their way of living, this gouging will continue, all the while, these corps. will be turning record profit after record profit. I used to have a car. I used to live in the suburbs. I used to be at the mercy of driving everyday, but I was flat out FORCED to change my habits because I just could not afford to live that way anymore. Now I live in the downtown core. I walk most places I can and then I am at the mercy of public transit or taxis. That said though, I am no longer paying almost $1k a month on owning an automobile. However, I am still getting raped at the grocers because of the cost of fuel. (rant over)

assemblies; how times have changed
by Evidently Apostate inmy wife mentioned our circuit assembly was this weekend, she looked at me and i let out a chuckle and said "the kids are too sick right?
" (they weren't) but it was what she wanted to hear, an excuse from me to blow it off.
it got us thinking about how they were kind of tolerable when we were younger.. meals with ice cream, lots of volunteering to get you out of your seat.. there was more room at past assemblies.

Back in the day the brother I sub contracted for asked me to start tagging along with him to "share in the privlege" of constructing the stage and pool for conventions. I was already in the "trucking/logistics" department, in addition to being an attendant and occasionaly assisting in the accounting part of the assemblies/conventions (since I was assistant accounts in our congregation). So my convention started way early in the week (at the expence of blowing off PAYING customers) Also, somehow, every damn time, I would get roped into helping unload the 2 tractor trailers full of literature that would arrive at our hall so we could store the new releases. Now that I typed all that out, I see how pathetic and brain washed I really was.

I met my wife on JWD. She lived damn near an entire continent away. We are proof positive it works. We have been together now for 8 years, have 2 kids, and could not be happier. Don't get me wrong, the distance is hard, and eventually one of you will have to blink, move to the other and deal with it. That said, again, we are proof positive. Any relationship takes work and commitment, and to be honest, a long distance one is just a tad more work, nothing major though if you are both on the same page and have the same timelined goals.

"in 1921, before most of us were born, a remarkable study began tracking the loves and lives of 1500 americans from childhood to death.
the study continues even today, with research teams led by howard friedman still keeping tabs on the remaining few who are still alive and analyzing massive amounts of data to establish what it is precisely that led some to stay well and others to fall ill or die before their time.. > .

BELIEVE me, I am at a complete loss as how to get friends. On top of the cult screwing with my head, I have made major moves nearly every 2 years since I have been out. Granted the 11+ years in DC was semi permanent, I travelled EVERYWHERE in the states beause of work. I never made any friends. I find it hard to make friends now. Not so much that I am anti social, but because I am hella busy with looking after my family. I really am a chill guy once you get to know me. My problem is, I am so afraid of rejection. I also have NOTHING to do with my family (mum, dad, siblins, etc.) I am not making excuses here. What I am trying to say is that I 1,000% agree with the original post, and to some degree it deeply saddens (and kinda scares) me that I have no friends. I try to explain to my wife, but I don't think she grasps what I am trying to say. I suppose this response sounds a bit whiny, but I don't know how else to put it.

Watch For New "Terror Attack"
by PublishingCult inobama plays the osama card as his popularity wanes and the election day draws near.. nice that he didn't have to provide any proof of his amazing accomplishment in getting dead the number one terror suspect and alleged mastermind of 911 who never even made the fbi's top ten list.. the day before 911, bush's approval rating was around 50%.
the day after 9-11, his approval jumped up to 90%.
there is going to be another false flag terror crisis.

Meh. I lived in DC/NOVA on 9-11. I am not running around worried about the what if's or anxious about perceived or paranoia induced threats. Life is far to damn short for that kind of silly anxiety and stress.

I am a huge gamer myself. Don't let my gamerscore fool you. This is my 4'th gamertag. One was a legit ban with 65,000 gp(tee hee) The other 3 were necessitated by LIVE buggering up my accounts when I got new consoles and would not allow me to transfer tags. I had a PS3 slim, got rid of it late last year because the thing started to feel like an f-14 Tomcat on full afterburner out of the exhaust ports. I was literally going to buy another PS3 this weekend. (decided for this w/e about 2.5 months ago) until the issues with PSN came up. Now, I am waiting on the Wii2 announcment this summer and hopefully pick one up on release date. Also, I have an itchy feeling that the next version of X-Box is just around the corner, possibly as soon as this holiday season (to upstage Wii) . Other than that, add me. I play just about anything. Heavy into Need for Speed Hot pursuit, Marvel vs Capcom3 and Red dead Redemption. Gamertag TDOT WILLY.

I wish these numb nuts would listen here in Toronto. We live in a key controlled highrise and these people come around, sneak in somehow, and then bother the piss out of everyone. We have a suspicion that witnesses live here and buzz them in. Every time I catch them, I always yell @ them down the hall and make sure that everyone on our floor hears it. They usually just leave, but around the memorial time, these morons actually had the balls to argue with me from down the hall. When I told them hold on, I put my shoes on and hulked my 225 lb frame down to where they saw me, they apologised over and over, did an about face and went down the steps, not even waiting for the elevator.

What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?
by Reality79 in- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

What ultimetly made me leave the cult was what I was counselled on. I used to sell beer, liquor, and wine. To make an long (but) interesting story short: One of the elders wives was at one of the pubs I was selling booze to. She saw me and I saw her. She was completely tanked @ 2pm. Next meeting, -I- get counselled on my choice of employment, due to her drunk ass yapping at her husband. Wtf? Well that incident started a domino effect, that eventually led to my leaving the cult in a rather dramatic fashion. Another story for another time.
