the current wtbts campaign against "demonic" programmes like twilight reminds me of their attitude towards dallas in the 80's.
our family were avid dallas viewers back in the 80's when suddenly the wtbts decided to attack it , in print & at assemblies.
so we became somewhat closet watchers until it was brought up by the co in his "local needs" item.

I didn't know about those articles, but if an Elder ever came to my place and asked about those, I'd say "You're kidding right?" I am NOT letting a posse of old heads in Brooklyn tell me what I can and can't watch!
They're so quick to voice an opinion about violence and films...yet they clap and ENJOY violence and war in the Bible stories. Puleeeze!

Yeah, there's still "Freedom of Religion" in this country. The view it as a person's right. So even your family has the "right" to shun you if its their "religous" beliefs. Its wrong, but the government figures..."you can think for yourself, and if you don't WANT TO shun your friends and family - don't!...if they kick you out and ostracize you, you can just "choose" another religion or none at all.
I DO think that the gov't may start to crack down on the "tax-exempt" stuff, because they are a Corporation and times are tough, financially, for mostly everyone. i think that's why so many are getting out of the org. b/c at this point...who cares about going to meetings!? Gas is high...and the stresses of the days are becoming more difficult to bear without having to worry about if your behaving like a good witness.
The ORG does discriminate...so this will make them a target. Would love to see the faces of gay people if they were to see a drama or hear a talk of how the witness reeeeally feel about them.

this brother was sitting near me today at the hall and when the public speaker started talking about the signs of the last days this guy started whispering something to his wife and kind of mocking the speaker in a quiet voice.
his wife looked really pissed off.. i've suspected this guy before by some of the stuff he's said and done and some of the #3 talks hes given he's gone off the assigned topic quite a bit.. during the wt study i was doing mics and i happened to walk by him several times.
his wt was on the floor and his bible was opened to topic for conversation at the end of the bible at the last days part.. a little while later his wife gave him the look and said something to him and he picked up his unprepared wt and followed along.. hoser.
Sounds like a guy at my hall. I haven't seen him give a talk on the school in more than a year. He wears a goatee, rarely attends meetings, but his wife and kids still attend. I couple of times he's come and at the end of the meeting I've seen one and 2 (different meetings) elders speaking to him off to the side or in the back room. He always looks like he'd rather be elsewhere. When the C.O. visited recently, he appeared to be upset. I wonder if the C.O. cracked down on the BOE and we'll soon hear his name read off at a service meeting soon.
An in-law of mine worked with his wife in FS and the wife said that he was "waiting on Jehovah" on some things and thought he would just get along with using his "bible only". So I KNOW, he doesn't believe the BS, but...I wondered "If she's telling other people this, why hasn't his name been announced yet?" Seems like the Elders are being very, very patient with this man.
