HELP NEEDED for the book I'm writing!
by Terry ini'm about 90% finished on a book i started nine years ago.
it will deal with jehovah's witness policy on conscientious objectors during war time.
from the 1800's through the end of the draft in the early 1970's.. i am also giving a personal biographical account of my own introduction to the religion, process of assimilation and ministry experience.. additionally, i'm working in timelines connecting the 2nd adventist teachings with russell, rutherford and mainstream watchtower doctrines.. .

Local Needs Talk: Brothers must repair dents and scratches on their vehicles...
by Calebs Airplane inso about 8 years ago, we had a local needs talk about dents an scratches !!!!
it was given by the cobe and this guy was just your normal everyday elder.
except he had his occasional pet peeves... like (you guessed it) dents and scratches on some of the brothers' vehicles.

This made me think of a service meeting part I once had. Don't remember exactly the title of it but it was dealing with tact and kindness at the door and I made the point that if your car left a puddle of antifreeze in the street it would be the same as being untactful or unkind at the door. The message you shared would be overshadowed by a negative impression. Some in the audience were visibly uncomfortable because of their vehicle condition.

Why do all the COs have food intolerances/allergies/special dietary requirments?
by Julia Orwell init's a well known phenomenon i've observed from jwn, my own cos. a new co we had once who was fresh from being a normal elder and after a couple of visits he said, "well i've finally become a true co...i now have food intolerances.".
i mean, only once did my husband and i ever have a co around for dinner and they couldn't eat this, he couldn't eat that, she couldn't eat this...it was so hard to cook something with none of the zillions of things they were 'allergic' to.. and then after all that the wife couldn't come anyway because she had a naturopath appointment or something.. why do all co's seem to have weird dietary problems?.

JW's love potlucks and not all have mad chef skills like I do. If I was in CO shoes I would feign food iintolerance just so I wouldn't have to gulp down some of the crap food items so prevalent at said potlucks. It would always be an out if menu was substandard.

I really need some help to get out of this religion
by doughnutkitty inhi, i've been lurking on this site for quite a while after recently having doubts about the "truth".
i've read a lot of posts about problems with the doctrines, mind control, the beliefs, brainwashing that jehovah's witnesses and their literature, as well as their history.
now only being a sixteen year old born in who isn't baptized or unbaptized, i've come to find all this information incredibly overwhelming.

Keep all your non-cult friends. They won't shun you if WT says you should be shunned. DONT EVER get baptized as a JW.
They think baptism is a legal contract you have made with them to run your life how they like it and if you resist they will DF you.
Read all the books recommended here. Maybe "captives of a concept" would help you at this point to confirm your not in the "one and only true religion".
Its a mentally traumatic trip but you will feel much more happy and smarter for taking it.
Live your life happy and chase your dreams. JW's will hate seeing someone who has left and is happy.

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

Well he called you an apostate in the letter which by WT terms is the worst kind of person in the world to ever be so yes! He used a pejorative word against you
That is defamatory.

will a judicial comittee allow you to face your accusers
by label licker inwe were told today, yes!
our accusers will be there.
is it true?
-

Ask what was heard, who from, who else was told, then characterize what they heard as defamation, slander, gossip and deny everything. They won't have accusers there but if they do talk to your accusers the same way but out of the presence of JC. If JC starts and no accusers are there tell elders you must know who said what, to whom, then ask if they would be willing to testify in court if you decide to bring a defamation suit against your accusers.
Once you get legal with them they will be very hesitant to proceed. Tell them you would like to know their policy limits for their insurance that protects them from legal action for illegal acts they may commit as a result of JC.
And by all means RECORD THAT JC! Then put it on YouTube!

I went to a hall a few weeks ago and saw it. CO started with a brief intro talk on what happened at tower of babel then proceeded with video. I kept thinking how much effort JWs go thru to fight against an act of god to break down language barriers.
Also thought interviews were very staged they gushed how good and how much they loved bibles moments after getting them. Obviously unread
I also found it interesting how carefully they worked on translation of publications then practiced with them.
I'm sure they ONLY want to convey the ideology and proper doctrinal slant only the goofballs at WT HQ could come up with.

If 19 chickens died...that's probably 100 orders of chicken Mc Nuggets that weren't made. 100 orders of
Mc Nuggets lost probably led to the deaths of 200 children due to starvation.
Hey Anthony, why did jah want kids to starve to death?
