I have the Shark Lift Away, have had it almost a year, and it is the best vacuum I have ever had! So awesome I got one for my daughter. I have flights of stairs to sweep and it is so lightweight, it is unbelievely easy to use. I have 4 cats in my house so I sweep most everyday, you wouldn't believe how much it picks up. I love it and would recommend it. I have used many, many brands of sweepers (I am a pet/house sitter and often use clients sweepers). I dont care for Dyson, they are crazy to figure out the attachments and are so heavy. I have found the most expensive sweepers are the least user friendly. Hope this helps.

Shark Navigator Lift-away vs Dyson
by Bonnie_Clyde ini already have a dyson, but we have three floors in our house, and i don't like carrying it up and down stairs...it's so heavy (bad back).
just saw a sale at costco for the shark for $119...a lot cheaper than dyson.
anybody have an opinion if you think it's worth it as a second vacuum..

The 3 Pines mystery series by Louise Penny, featuring Chief Inspector Gamache, taking place in Quebec. There are 9 of them, her 10th coming out later this month. Start with "Still Life", but warning, don't be hungry when you read these, the food descriptions are mouth watering.

I think he has just come from a Kingdom Hall mind cleansing. Either that, or he has an extremely succinct way of putting things.

cha ching From what I have read on other recent threads, your own choice of "worldly" music at a wedding is still a NO NO. I remember hating the goofy song I walked down the aisle to.

OMG!!!! This is friggin unbelievable. Some of the newer ones in may not understand why some of us "oldies" find this so out of the norm for what is allowed at a KH. It's not that we are "just hatin'", we are in total disbelief that this would be allowed. We, who were around in the 1960's and 70's, who grew up with such strict rules, and all the whooping and hollering by the females at the males dancing, man, that would have been cause for DFing! I think they are so desparate now to attract and keep any younger ones that they are allowing so much more than ever before. I know if my elder dad and uncles and the long gone old time elders from my hall back then would see this, they would be shaking their heads and rolling over in their graves! I do think it is really funny though, Witnesses always look so stiff when they are trying to have normal fun

Not on JW.org : Question for Jehovah's Witnesses elders: If pants have Pagan origins, is DENIM demonized ?
by Balaamsass2 ina yound sister was severely counciled by the elders for wearing a denim "jean skirt" to the hall last year.
she left with tears in her eyes and never returned.. for the last 50 years denim jeans have been banned at the brooklyn bethel breakfast table.. i understand denim jeans are banned even by tourists visiting beth ell.
billy explained the pants situation in past posts.. so my questions are: what other instances are there of denim bans by watchtower ?

Man, when I read stuff like this, all I can do is shake my head and wonder how I ever put up with this crapola. Soooooooooooooo happy I am free. Wish I was brave enough to ask my family who are still in what they think when they are told stuff like this, but dont want to open a can of worms as long as they are still speaking to me.

I have had trouble knowing what day it is since my daughter graduated from high school 9 years ago. My husband works a job where he often works weekends, so my days run together. I am also a part time pet/house sitter and some days I wake up and have to stop and think where I am, if I am in my own bed or at a clients house! I just ordered the Bobby Darin Show DVD and noticed that he has been dead over 40 years and I remember when his short lived TV show was on. Yikes! Like a few of you who have commented, I am also in my mid 60's, but my life is fuller than ever than when I was trapped in the JW's.

Are they really that stupid
by moley ini was recently approached by a couple of borg drones while i was walking my dog, and i thought why not, may plant a seed or two (how wrong was i).
there was no real logic to what they were saying but as i was in the local park the conversation started to veer to how wonderful nature was and how this was the work of a wonderful creator.
i did not let on i was a former witness and let them continue with their fairy tale of creation and how the vast multitude of animals shows a loving god at work blah blah blah...... but i digress, the converastion then turned to how evolution was false.. apparently to earth is only a few thousand years old, so i mentioned about the burgess shale, to be met with blank stares.

For those who have been out for 5 years or more.......
by Phizzy in........... do you find you are now far more relaxed about things ?
things in general, and things wt/jw related ?.
i find i am much more relaxed and pragmatic about life in general, mrs phizzy and i do what we can, but we don't get overly upset at what we cannot do.

As all of you have said, relaxed, happy, care more about people, free. Yes, that sums it up. And Phizzy, "The Elephant in the Room", oh yes, that is me when I am invited to a few family gatherings (although after nearly 30 years out I am starting to be excluded). Notice how they stop talking when you come in to the room? I think it is funny, and sad, that these otherwise intelligent people are trapped in a mind controlling cult.
