God is busy with his property portfolio
by snare&racket inone way i managed to de-programme myself was to imagine the god of the universe being behind the desicions watchtower were making.
it first came to me when barbara anderson described being in a lift in bethel discussing a property or land sale that didn't go through and her musing over gods involvement.. we are meant to believe that the god who made the universe is behind this...... http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/story/news/local/2015/05/12/jehovahs-witnesses-fishkill-tax-exemption/27206609/.
it stinks of greed, business and grandiose expansion.

Just read that article, man I agree with you. Wonder if the average JW fully realizes just how much property they are buying up, how many millions are involved and what luxurious buildings their money is going for. And all this at a time that is sooooo close to the end and the R&F are encouraged to scale down any job or worldly pursuits and young ones are told not to plan for a future in the "system of things". WTF do they need all this for now if Armageddon is right around the corner. Seems they are not believing it themselves. You got some R&F with menial jobs living in mobile homes while these clowns are living in luxury accommodations. -

Gordon Lightfoot
by RAYZORBLADE inok, if you're a canuck, chances you know that gordon lightfoot is about right up there with ol' jehover!.
but if not, nevermind, but i have to admit, i have been a lifelong fan of: gordon lightfoot.. this evening, i took his 'greatest hits' and gave it a listen, and as expected, i was still enthralled with his lyrical genius, and playing abilities.. anyone a gordon lightfoot fan?.
just curious.. all your folks living along north america's "great lakes" keep in mind, next month is the 28th anniversary of the sinking of the "edmund fitzgerald".. that song, by gordon lightfoot is haunting from beginning to end (over 6 minutes).. i personally love: go-go girl in love, bitter green, canadian railway trilogy, sundown, race among the ruins, wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, and well i like just about every damn thing he ever did.. your contributions?

I was hoping Rayzorblade would see my post, I think he is still around. Listening to all the cds I got from the library I've discovered several new favorites. Of course I love the ones that were popular here in the states, the ones everyone is familiar with, but now I LOVE Baby Step Back, Race Among the Ruins, Did She Mention My Name, I'm Not Supposed to Care and Song for a Winter's Night. Can't get enough of Gordon right now! -

After 2 years my parents make contact. The end result is that I promise them to cryogenically preserve ONLY their heads
by paulmolark init has been 2 and a half years since my departure from the religion.
i was told by my parents from the start that i would never speak to them until i returned to jehovah dog.
a few months later they told people they hoped i died before the end came, then all of this culminating in them telling my inactive / fading sister that they don't consider me a child anymore and they have given me up to satan.

Paul I wish all the best for you and your family. Sounds like you have loving wife and children and a good career. You don't need her toxic presence in your life. There are so many good, kind people out there who can become close as family. Her call had to be terribly upsetting, but as the JWs always say when you get a nasty person at the door, shake the dust off your feet and move on.

Paul, so sorry for the misery you have had in your life, but so happy you are now free and leading a successful life. You are right, JW or not, your mother sounds mentally ill and was clearly abusive. I may have missed it in some of the posts but where is your father in all this? You said parents, so I assume he is still in the picture? Did he go along with the physical abuse you endured as a child or now support her hateful, insane rants to you and your children? I'm with the others who say screen your calls and have no further contact with her. What does your wife think of her insane rants, does she agree with her batcrap crazy mother in law? After all, your mother tried to break up your marriage with her lies. -

Oh, and I wonder how much $$$ the daughter contributes to this worthless set of parents for their upkeep. Did I understand correctly, they are at Bethel now? Living large on their monthly pittance. Bet they are happy she got a job where she had to interact with "wordly" people. -

What a couple of f***heads! And after all that blackmail to get their daughter back in, do they seem happy? NOOOO! a more morose couple of morons would be hard to find. Did they even smile once, I don't know, it was hard for me to watch. Maybe I was too focused on her fashionable wanna be Amish outfit. Geez, I'm with the rest of you guys...pass the puke bag!
And you are right, not one word about how she came back because she loved Jehovah or knew it was the true religion, she came back because she missed her family. Do they even realize they admitted that?

Prefect: Just listened to it on YouTube then read the story on Wiki. Man, that ship was a disaster waiting to happen. Got familiar with several Lightfoot songs I didn't remember from the library cds and just downloaded about 30 onto my mp3. Can't get over how he looks now, he was so entirely HOT in the 70's, but then. weren't we all? (Well those of us who were around in the 70's )

Hey RAYZORBLADE, you still around? Had to add to your thread from 12 years ago. Saw Gordon Lightfoot in concert last week in Akron Ohio. My daughter had tickets and took her old mom who has always been a fan. She is 28 but loves all the music from my young years, especially The Beatles. Man, I had no idea he had been so ill. What a toll it took! I can't believe he is still touring. Please remember, I have always been a hugh Lightfoot fan, but my goodness, it was painful to watch. You could barely hear him and he had to stop several times to use an inhaler. Don't get me wrong, even so I am thrilled to have seen him in person. I only wish I would have seen him in the 70's when he had the voice we hear on the old records.
Went to my library and got all the Lightfoot CDs they had and noticed his voice started to go even before his illness in 2002. But my goodness, his lyrics send chills. He has to be one of the greatest in that department. His band was awesome, played so he wasn't totally drowned out. And he looks so thin and frail, would never have recognized him if someone would have asked who he was. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and share my experience. YouTube has a few posts from the Akron concert if anyone wants to see what I am referring to, as far as his condition, etc. As I said even with that, I am happy I went to be in the presence of such an iconic talent. Thank You Canada!

I found something useful the Witnesses do for society.
by adjusted knowledge ini'm currently working at a rehab facility.
it also has assisted living, long term care, and hospice.
the facility allows churches to sign up for planned activities.

Yes, would any of them volunteer there without the JW agenda and counting time? Just go in and read to someone a nonJW book or participate in an activity? Probably not. When my dad, a long time elder, was in the last months of his life in a nursing home, he got lots of visitors on Wednesdays, the traditional mid week service days. They would come in their "goin' out in service clothes", spend a half hour, read a scripture and leave, no doubt adding an easy hour to their time slip. -

What? Are you in California? And how would they pay for these expensive procedures? They wouldn't be covered by insurance.
