"Fa La La"
by OnTheWayOut inout at the mall with mrs. otwo, she sees a shirt on the rack that was marked down from $25 to just $4.
she holds it up and says, "should i buy this as a workout shirt?".
i tell her "no, because as soon as you figure out what it means, you won't wear it anymore.

That's hilarious! Hope she bought it and wears it proudly!😀 Was it red or green, maybe that would have been a clue. If she Googled fa la la it would have told her right off it was part of the lyrics of a popular Christmas song. Maybe she can wear it when she cleans the KH! -

Next year will be a very tough year for me
by never a jw inmy new year resolution is to invest more of my time with my family and friends.
also, as i approach retirement ( i am 50), i need to make sure there's enough to keep me and my wife going beyond our eighties.
i want to thank all of you because my time here, posting and reading, have been a great learning experience.

I don't know where you are, but if you are in the US, you are nowhere near the age of retirement at 50. -

What did you have for Christmas dinner?
by GrreatTeacher inmy inlaws are polish, though my husband is a 3rd generation american, but the food traditions have stuck around.. we have christmas eve dinner starting with red beet soup with sour cream, pierogies filled with mashed potatoes or saurkraut, ham, polish sausage sliced and cooked with saurkraut, turkey (that part is american), krischickies (likely spelled wrong) which are crispy pastries dipped in powdered sugar, and apple pie (also american.).
there are goodnatured threats toward bad children who may need to get their dupa busted (butt spanked) and therefore santa will bring figismachen.
i also love golabkis (ground beef and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves), but these were not served this time.

OMG Outlaw! I love, love, love Mr. Bean. I was in a store the other day where all the Christmas stuff was on sale. They had a really cute little tree that was pre-lit, but was not plugged in, sooooooooooooo I unplugged another display so I could plug the little tree in to see how it looked lit up. Immediately it came to mind one of my favorite Mr. Bean scenes, the Christmas episode where he was at the big department store and pulled a plug to test a string of lights and the whole outside of the store went dark!!! LMAO!!
Anyway, I had a typical, awful Christmas dinner at my husbands family, they are terrible cooks. We had dry ham and burned on the bottom cookies while everyone raved how delicious everything was. I am 50% Romanian-Hungarian and my mom learned to cook to suit my dad which meant flavor, paprika, garlic, stuffed cabbage, poppyseed rolls, etc, all the things hubby's family turn their noses up at. I usually take the rolls or jello salad or something to a family dinner cause no one will eat GOOD food that I make. How the heck do you dry out a delicious spiral sliced honey baked ham? My sister in laws could dry out Niagara Falls!!!

Maybe your astute little ones should ask daddy if Jehovah is happy when daddy is inebriated! Good for you for giving your children a semblance of normalcy.

Last week my daughter took me to see Peter Noone (of Herman's Hermits fame, from the 60's British Invasion). He was my favorite. I felt like I was a teenager again! She is 29 and loves the music from my generation! He still looks and sounds great!!

Heartwarming story for all you dog lovers
by SafeAtHome inironic after reading the thread yesterday about the jws who said they are the only ones who thank police officers: well this was in my local newspaper today.
if this doesn't bring a tear to your eye, well you have never been touched by the love of a furry four legged friend.
not only did these out-of-towners have high praise for the akron ohio police officers, but someone thought enough of the story to bring it to the attention of the newspaper, who then thought enough of it to publish the story.

Peer presure to use Ipad
by Gorbatchov inearlier this season i advised my retired father to ignore the use of a tablet during his kingdom hall congregational visits.
his response was hopefull, but between the lines i could hear he had no choice.. yesterday he showed me his new 600 euro 64 gb ipad air 2. he had no clue what he has to do with it, he told me one of the elders will install the jw.org apps.. so, i feel he had to deal with presure to buy this ipad and i think he is not the only one.. do you recognize this?.
gorby.

This is so sad and crazy. When my parents were still alive, they could barely manage their VCR. Someone had to repeatedly show them how to get back to the TV mode when a video was done playing! And my dad (a long time elder) was very mechanically savvy all his life, he could fix anything, so he was not stupid, but modern technology would be beyond him.
Can't say for certain what other churches are doing, but in my job I am often out on Sunday mornings. I pass many churches and see people going in, and you know what? I see lots of Bibles in hand but nothing that looks like a tablet!

Maybe you have to be a Northeast Ohio sports fan to appreciate this, but we are all getting a laugh out of this:

Very Sad ... Another Terrorist Attack here in the USA ... and not enough guns to defend us
by RubaDub inif only there were more people with guns perhaps some lives would have been saved.. it's a sad state of affairs here in the us when enough people aren't armed when there is an attack.. if someone simply had a gun or was wearing a suicide vest to take the perpetrators out, other lives could have been saved.. rub a dub .

FB experience
by WasOnceBlind inso on last saturday, one of my good child hood friends (i consider her like a real sister) who is da posted on facebook that she was going to be having a birthday party for her son.
well another person we grew up with immediately posted a comment about how she should know better then to celebrate bdays and referenced 2 peter 2:20-22 (about being like a dog turning to its own vomit).
i countered with with luke 11:37-49 and didn't hear back.

I don't know the workings of FB, but don't you have to be "friends" with someone for them to post on your FB? And why would a JW be friends with one who is DA? Well maybe the normal people who sees that posting will realize what nut jobs they are, comparing a child's birthday celebration to dogs vomit!
