Contrary to what their website says, they are shunning family members who no longer associate. Never been disfellowshipped, never formally disassociated, just a slow fade almost 30 years, and now I am being shunned and left out of major family events. Has to be because of all this crap they are being fed. Listening to this clip made me ill, the hate spewed forth in such a whiney voice! I won't say it is not hurtful, but just have to shake my head and feel sorry for them. Fortunately, unlike so many others posting here, I am at a stage in my life where I really do not care anymore. When I walked away my life turned around and I have never looked back. I have a life of freedom and family and friends, am entering my retirement years, and life is too short to deal with their issues.

Will Newbies Be Able to Add More Profile Info?
by SafeAtHome insimon, you may have addressed this already, but when you have all the kinks worked out, will we be able to add biographical data, such as our location etc.
to our profile?
i notice the older posters have that but it was not an option when i signed up.

Simon, You may have addressed this already, but when you have all the kinks worked out, will we be able to add biographical data, such as our location etc. to our profile? I notice the older posters have that but it was not an option when I signed up. Sometimes it helps to know where someone is when reading their posts. Of course, it is never difficult to tell if someone refers to their "mum" instead of their mom! Thanks

When "The Persecution" Comes - What a Let Down that turned out to be!
by cofty inwhen i was young there was endless speculation about "the persecution".
i have very clear memories as a child sitting in the old kingdom hall in coatbridge hearing it talked about from the platform.
it was a frequent topic at home.. sometimes there was lurid detail about what sort of torture "they" might use against us to make us betray others.

Goodness, I have been out for almost 30 years and I still remember the demo with the reversible jacket and false beard. And the admonition to never, ever miss the Tuesday night book study because that's where we would most likely receive life saving instructions. Didn't i find out from here that the book study is no more? Where do we go for the reversible jackets now? LOL

Thank You Perversion of a truth! Worked hard on that. Isn't it something how most themes revolve around being happy and free, just the opposite of what the WT says you will be if you leave.

Who really is to blame for the marriage breakdowns?
by Quarterback inanother young couple has bit the dust, in our congregation.
that's close to 20.. we'll probably hear a special needs talk, and of course the couple will be counselled to get back together, and they are not scripturally free to marry.. comments will be made that it's is the fault of the younger ones, today.
apparently younger ones are selfish, but, are they?.

MY first mariage broke up because we were way too young, I was 21, he was 19. And we got baptized so we could get married in the Kingom Hall. What alternative did we have back then? We should have both been in college planning for a real future, but of course in 1972 we wanted to be able to experience a few years of being an adult before 1975. That marriage lasted 12 years before he decided he was too young to get married and wanted to experience freedom. He has recently remarried his 3rd exwife while my 2nd marriage is going on 28 years. Not sure if he has found his freedom, but I sure found mine. With the divorce came a ticket out of the Borg. Really, Witness kids get married way too young. I think more than half of the young couples who were married around the same time are no longer together.

Really? Only 12 or less? Here goes:
Normal kid, had it all
Birthdays, Christmas, what a ball.
Ten years old, all that changed
Mom & dad became deranged.
Sucked into borg, my oh my
Hook, line, sinker - bought the lie.
At 34, first hubby left
Oh so sad, felt bereft.
But found my wings, brain cells awoke,
To me Watchtower no longer spoke.
Never looking back, love the new me
Sum it all up with I'm Free! I'm Free!

When I was a teenager, way back in the 60's, a sister was recommending coffee enemas! Thinking back on her now, she was a very scrawny, skinny lady. Probably anorexic. And of course, someone was always selling vitamins.

by diana netherton inwell, i guess i can't be shocked but it's been a while since i've been to a jw service.
i honestly felt like i was sitting through an amway sales pitch with my grandmother's name inserted every once in a while.
it's not personal at all.

I have been out since 1985. I went to a few of the old timers funerals as the years went on, and to some who were my parents age that I knew growing up in the Kingdom Hall. I vowed several years back I was NEVER going to another JW Infomercial funeral. They are cold and impersonal and give no comfort whatsoever. When my dad died in 2004, an elder who had met him only a few times gave the "talk". This was arranged by my brother who is still in. My sister is a journalist by profession, she writes beautiful and moving human interest stories. (She also has been out a long time and had the courage to go to college to pursue a career.) Well, she wrote a wonderful tribute to our dad, going back over the years with my mom (they were married for 62 years), us kids growing up, grandchildren, his favorite things, etc. It was about a page long. She requested that her son, my dads firstborn grandchild (now a grown man of 40), read it, maybe before the service, or even afterwards after the prayer was said. ABSOLUTELY NOT! was the response from that elder. My sister and I were so furious and my brother would not speak up. We just simmered and let it go, not wanting to upset the boat with my brother.
You have my sympathy Diana, on the loss of your Grammy. There are so many of us out here who can empathize with what you went through.

I've been duped!
by truthhurts13 inso im sittin here lookin through these issues of watch/awake that a jaydub left me, and i just realized, she gave me old mags!!!!!
these are like 2 years old!
she used me as a dumping ground for her old trash, and then counted it on her timecard as placements i just know it.. i remember leaving stacks (30-40) mags at a time on laundry mat tables, and leaving 5 or 6 in a door was not a problem.

If you are going to live in the woods, don't forget to take the magazines...they may come in handy. Just don't forget to take the staples out first!
