If they would tell me they "might drop by when they get a chance", I would say "Oh, don't put yourself out, but if you do, please phone first". Then, I would not answer (bless you, caller ID) or make sure to not be home. -

We discovered a Dyson Sphere! . . . maybe
by Coded Logic inokay, okay, okay - i know we're not supposed to jump to conclusions.
but the odds this is a "naturally occurring event" are pretty low.
and it's just the sort of megastructure we would expect an advanced alien civilization (type 2) to build.

I'm with Simon. I was going to say I prefer the Shark, it's more user friendly and much less expensive.

No 'Tight Pants' policy is now official - classed as 'disturbing'
by wizzstick inin short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.
wow.

"Sisters with masculine hairstyles and dress"? So what, are they going to start forbidding women to cut their hair like the Pentacostals or Amish? And sounds like no hope for women to ever wear sensible, warm slacks even in the most frigid weather. -

Any answers that are in harmony with our present understanding? Really, if you are paying attention when you read that, wouldn't a light bulb go on in your brain, like, wtf?? how many understandings of this have we had? There is no waking these people up!

So sorry for your loss. Today would have been my mom's 95th birthday. I was with her when she died in 2009. I think of her everyday, so many things I still want to tell her or ask her. I am so grateful I was there and grateful we had a good relationship right till the end. You will always have that too, and it will be a comfort to you. Joining all our friends here in sending you condolences. -

lamallcool yes, this is going way back, like I said to 60s or 70s. He seemed a kind, mild mannered person. He was unusual in that he had a business with his own money, they had their own adequate finances, had a mobile home I think, and had a little girl. He and his wife looked more like grandparents than parents, daughter must have been a late in life surprise. Are you in northeast Ohio? -

I always thought this teaching was really discouraging too. Just thinking, is there any other religion with a similar idea? Like, if you do go to heaven would it be a constant test and have a fear of being kicked out or whatever? -

The Witnesses Are Really Trying Hard To Get Me Back In
by minimus inat my mom's bed side all i see is either jw family or friends making a concerted effort to have me return to their fold.
evidentlyy, my mom has encouraged this and i'm a trapped prisoner, as they do their best to have me come back.
it's bad enough that i have to endure my mom's dying, now i have to be bombarded with this bs..

minimus So sorry for you. My mother passed in 2009 at age of 88, really thought she would go to be 100 like her grandmother. I was privileged to be at her bedside when she passed after a 5 day vigil. My mom and dad never shunned me even though I had been out for 25 years, faded never DA or DF. They were Witnesses since I was 10 or 11 years old, since 1961. I walked away in 1984 after a divorce from my childhood JW sweetheart. (Have since been remarried for 30 years to non-JW). Not a day goes by I don't think of her and miss her. Same goes for my dad who passed in 2004. No matter how old you are, if you had a good relationship with your parents, you will miss them. My folks, of course, never thought they would grow old and die, let alone me who this year had to register for Medicare! Anyway, just wanted to let you know I along with so many others on this site whom we have never met, are sending you all our loving and caring thoughts while you go through such a difficult time.
You know what was one of the most "grating" moments I went though during all of this? She was living in another state with one of my siblings and when the JWs would come to visit and were introduced to me, they assumed I was a JW and kept calling me "sister". UGH!! You don't know how cultish that sounds until you are out and free.
Anyway, hugs and loving thoughts to you.

A simple physical exercise leads to great discovery!
by iconoclastic inwhen i was working in a shipping company, captain invited me to his house for his wedding anniversary.
there i was attracted to his father (aged around 80) who seemed to be very healthy.
with me he became very comfortable, and talkative.

I don't know, an old guy talking about exercises for your private parts to a stranger? Sounds creepy to me!
