FB experience
by WasOnceBlind inso on last saturday, one of my good child hood friends (i consider her like a real sister) who is da posted on facebook that she was going to be having a birthday party for her son.
well another person we grew up with immediately posted a comment about how she should know better then to celebrate bdays and referenced 2 peter 2:20-22 (about being like a dog turning to its own vomit).
i countered with with luke 11:37-49 and didn't hear back.

I don't know the workings of FB, but don't you have to be "friends" with someone for them to post on your FB? And why would a JW be friends with one who is DA? Well maybe the normal people who sees that posting will realize what nut jobs they are, comparing a child's birthday celebration to dogs vomit! -

Lazy shepherds. Then they wonder "where are the sheep?"
by stillin ina guy who has come to the kh for years but never been baptized has a medical condition.
the elders became aware of the fact that the man did not refuse blood for his surgery.
the man consented to submit to the doctor's expertise.. there will be no calling on that man.

I would like to know how these elders find out so much personal medical information? Why would you even tell them you are going into the hospital or having any procedure done, especially if you are just on the edges of this religion. Maybe this will be a wake up call for him to completely drift away. -

Great thread. Let's post some pictures of our decorations. We too have lights strung up on a screened patio all year, I love the little white lights. By mid November I start putting away my fall decorations and bring out winter. Mine is not so much Christmas as winter so I can leave it up till spring. Here is the guy who greets anyone who comes to my front door.

Are we participants in this forum because of bouts of "loneliness"?
by Wonderment ini wonder how many of us here hold on to this meeting place out of "loneliness.
could it be that we harbor feelings of "abandonment" and "loneliness" from being left cold and dry by the wt people and our families?
perhaps we do have a need to reach out to people with similar experiences.

I lead a happy full life free of any formal religion. I come here because I have family still in and, like many of the others have said, to stay up on current beliefs. We never talk about religion but if it ever comes up I have gotten a lot of good ideas from this site, also a lot of laughs! And it never ceases to amaze me how many former elders are in this group.

Do you need Art and Music in your life?
by The Rebel inmusic and art have been a big part of my life since i was a little boy, and although i was never able to play a decent guitar, i can paint.
my art teacher from college said " i was the most imaginative and constructive pupil she had ever had.
" i loved that comment, because in translation i realised it meant i had to work harder than other more naturally talented students, but the effort was always worth it.

Absolutely music, yes! Gotta have some on in the back ground all the time. When I am driving I have my Gordon Lightfoot on my mp3. The music, the lyrics, the stories he tells, all very soothing. Some songs I can hear over and over and they always bring tears, like George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today" or Andy Griggs "If Heaven". In that song he says "if heaven were a pie it would be cherry". My dad's favorite pie was cherry and I cannot listen to that part of the song without getting tears in my eyes.

WOW, I just found a great reason for a man to have long hair, from the Watchtower Org!
by Greybeard in"the bobbed hair craze is sure to lead to baldness, sooner or later.
the reason for this is that human hair is like a tube sealed at the free end.
when the hair is cut, the oils which are the life of the hair become dissipated.

Oh man! No tight hats and no tight pants! The fixation on tight goes way back. Has anyone compiled a list of all the great health tips the brainiacs at the Borg have put out over the years? It would be some funny reading!

Achilles heel of Watchtower publications
by Gorbatchov inthe wts has published over it's existence during the years a flood of books and magazines.
many of the content of this publications includes topics about the medical, social, history field and also counsel about life style.. the achilles heel of all these publications is, that they are written mainly by amateurs, without verification and validation.
most of it is worthless.

Hey, wait...you mean I didn't get the equivalent of a college education reading their literature for 25 years? Well darn anyway!
