While I was still active: All the above plus grew my hair long, went to rock gigs, went to clubs, got pi$$ed up, smoked weed and ciggies, dropped acid, fornicated wildly at Glastonbury Festival and had a threesome with two JW chicks ;-)

Seriously? Incredible! Funny but also quite awful.
I had a Jesus Army 'soldier' try to hand my a tract once, I gave him a bit of a look, nothing serious and said no thanks, he shouted "enjoy hell". You can't get much more malicious than that I thought. Anyway, I can't tell you how much I wanted knock seven sorts of smug out of him.

I've had a few exchanges with him this evening and he's been quite civil with me and reckons he only resorts to 'rebukes' and name calling when arguing with rabid anti-JWs just as Jesus and Paul did. As if those two mugs are good examples to follow in life. Don't mean to offend any xians reading this but I'm no fan of Jesus or Paul. He's inactive, he says he's been out for a while and is about to go back. Tbh, I think there might be something 'amiss' with him. After speaking with him and reading some of his rants on his google+ page I kind of changed my approach because I thought maybe I'm dealing with an emotionally/psychologically damaged or 'vulnerable person'. I tend to tread a little lighter these days with some people...I must be mellowing with age.
Btw, far be it from me to lecture anyone on decorum, by all means give him both barrels between the eyes at point blank range if he gives you sh!t, he's an 'orrible little weasel :)

by truthseeker ini know of one person who had a difficult life, prayed for help, got the knock at the door, got baptized and eventually left the jws believing they were a cult.. has this happened to any of you?
and if so, did you still feel your prayers were answered at that time?.

JWs teach that God doesn't do OBVIOUS miracles that would actually prove his existence. He "uses the angels and his holy spirit" to do things that can't be proven or seen and are indistinguishable from coincidence, though.

One more thing on the subject of miracles. I remember hearing JWs telling all sorts of tall stories of 'divine intervention' occurring in our era. One that comes to mind was a story about an illegal JW meeting getting raided by the KGB in Soviet Russia. The officers did a thorough search of the property but found nothing illegal - the JWs had hidden all the books and bibles in the oven. The KGB were about to leave when one officer stopped and headed straight back to the kitchen, realising there was one place he hadn't looked. When he moved towards the oven and opened it the JWs went ashen and feared the worst. He peered in, paused for a moment, turned to look at the worried looking JWs and then promptly closed the oven door. Apparently God had made the books invisible.
If the story has any truth to it then what would be more likely was the officer decided not to arrest the witnesses because he was enough of a decent human being...or just couldn't be bothered with all the paperwork.
