The Mayan Calander Ends 2012 December
by frankiespeakin inhave any on this board read into this subject?

The Indigos were first noted about 10 years ago by a Western couple (it would seem, purely independently of other culture's belief systems). They are said to be the step to the next evolution of mankind, on a higher spiritual vibration than previous generations.
The Indigo Child concept was first popularized by the book, "The Indigo Children," written by the husband and wife team Lee Carroll and Jan Tober. Carroll also portrays himself as a channeler for "Kryon," a spiritual entity who predicted the coming of the Indigo Children.
Twyman sells books and Internet course based on the Psychic Children. He holds pricey Psychic Children conferences, camps, and fairs, charging about $300 for adults for the main conference. He offers an Internet course on telekinetic spoon-bending. He purportedly conversed with Jesus ("Jeshua") who revealed to Twyman through a "Divine Partnership" the "secrets of Heaven and Earth," which Twyman turned into an Internet course for required donations -- with a suggested retail value of $150.

I predict there will be beer available for consumption after the Mayan calendar ends. You read it here first.

Lebanon and Israel
by Silvia Plath inwow you guys really made me think with the response to my faith topic, i was just arguing with a friend today over israel and invading lebabon and he quoted all the bible scriptures to me trying to show me that, israel were the chosen people of god and how god allowed them to go in and slaughter the canninties (first recorded insident of genocide) including killing small children, and i asked is that what christ jesus died for so god could order the slaughter of babies for the jews?
so you are saying that not only is god a racist, but not a god of love as well?
if god created all of us from the dust why would he love one race more than another?

Its just as I thought, if the bible is being used as an excuse for slaughter and death then we must be more judicious about what we glean out of it.
Or the Qur'an. Or any holy book.

Fluff - what would you do?
by serendipity in.
if some rich relative died and left you a fortune, what would you do with your life and why?
for starters, i'd tell the boss "take this job and shove it, i ain't workin here no more.

In my job I've met some self-made millionaires who quit work in their early 40's to go chase their dream of unlimited golf or unlimited sailing in the Carribean or whatever. They got so utterly bored with the golf, sailing or whatever that they actually went back to work at their old job.
A life of worthwhile and/or meaningful work is the most satisfying.

I guess it's the same thing I'd do if I won the lottery.
Quit my current job.
Find meaningful work that would contribute in some positive way to the world.
Travel extensively: South Pacific, Europe, a number of islands, Australia, a number of places right here in the US.
I would work out more and do more yoga
Write a book or two
Move to a place that has more scenic beauty but not isolated
read
read
and read some more
Make a documentary about the JWs ala Ken Burn's "Civil War" style.

Trying to not feel like a putz!
by Sparkplug inok, i should be at a funeral.
i am all dressed up and i did not go.
i am pretty mad at myself, but when all was said and done, i just could not get myself to go.

Most funerals (not all) are stupid to me. I am already grieving. I don't want to go through some predictable formulaic "ceremony" where somebody WHO DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE GUY says nice platitudes and gives a formulaic speech to the attendees.
Why don't people go out and celebrate the person's life by having a dinner, drinking and dancing and party up instead? Celebrate that we're still alive and kicking?
The last funeral I attended was for my co-worker who gassed himself in his garage, changed his mind too late and tried to get up the stairs to his apartment and died in his living room. I didn't need to see his bloated, heavily pancaked face which look like some distorted plastic replica of him.
Just my two sense.

Your earliest love affairs
by greendawn incan you recall your earlier history of falling in love?
what do you think about those experiences now?
when i think of them i judge them as having been totally vain and naive and having made me too narrow minded, passive and dependant on other people.

They all hold a special place in my heart. (And I liked kissing 'em!!!!)
Would they have worked out over the long term? Probably not. When I was young I'd see a cutie and *POW* I was in love. Most of my relationships, even at 16 and on, tended to last a long time.
I agree with Daystar that the JW experience, at least for me, did not contribute to any sort of emotional maturity on my part that would make such a relationship last.
The most damaging trait was to insist on truth and being right with love taking a far distant back seat. I learned that from the Watchtower, and it was reinforced by the attorneys I work with.
Change comes with age because hopefully you learn some wisdom along the way. Pain is a good teacher and motivator. It's like, "I don't want to repeat THAT experience again."
But I'd love to meet up with all of them again and take 'em to lunch at least. It would be fun to catch up.
