HELP from Pagans please, X-mas gift ideas

last year hubby & i hosted x-mas at our place.

this year our pagan friends are hosting yule/x-mas.

they are into shamanism and i would really like to be able to give them something special that relates to their beliefs.

I'd go with the plant. Or...and this might be good...a beautiful crystal or interesting mineral.

I'm sure you'll have a New Age shop somewhere around, and it will be full of ideas, and bound to have rocks or crystals or other minerals too. Candles.

Fragrant incense sticks or granules too.

Can a JWs Elder be "removed" if his wife is known as the congregation "gossip"?

i remember in my kingdom hall one of our 5 elders bro.

"smith" had a gossipy wife sis "smith" who would be known to gossip from the time she enter the hall until she left.

i don't know how she never was reproved or counseled for her gossiping.

How does it make me feel towards such an organisation, Arboles?

It makes me feel I never want to go near it or have it come near me again, nor anyone I love, ever again. It makes me feel as one of my sons felt when I told him I was talking with JW's a few years ago. Then I thought I was being open-minded. As their hypocrisy and power games became clear, which in a way was gradual, but I tried not to think about what I knew was really going on (because it was all Bible based, right?). At the end it was the behaviour of some elders which was so vile that got me to walk, but the discovery was traumatic, because it seemed to me I had burned so many bridges on my journey into the Witnesses.

But I discovered that my old friends were just glad to have me back in the real world. I feel that I have learned a valuable lesson, and now I listen to my gut feelings, and if I don't like an environment I find myself in, even on the Internet, I'll walk. The difference between people in the real world and the arrogant controlling behaviour of some powerfully-placed sisters...elder's wives (not all)...and some elders leaves me feeling revulsion for the organisation!

The thing is, the whole Watchtower thing is a fabrication, sheer fantasy, fiction made up, largely, it seems, by Rutherford.

Since then, it becomes more and more important to them to keep control at all costs. They probably convince themselves that they are Gpd's agents on earth.

It's all magic mirrors, just illusion.

It keeps the elders as a superior class and keeps the sisters in their place, no entitlement to a brain, and entirely subservient to their menfolk.

That's the answer, I am certain.

Oh my goodness, I definitely know a gossipy elder's wife. She became my study conductor!

On the very first time she took me out door to door, "on the ministry" as they say here, all she talked about was another sister's personal secrets.

I resolved to tell her none of mine, though when someone is coming into your house very regularly, they still learn a lot.

A very spiteful woman who looked so good on the outside, always made up to the nines, and wearing the latest fashion. (Below the knee, of course!)

If that sounds catty, well, maybe it is a bit, but it is also totally true and reflects my feelings about some of the humilations she put me through.
