They sound to be totally immersed in the JW brainwash. You owe it to your son to cut free of all that is JW.

I agree with whoever said get all the help that is available to single mums where you live. It does sound as if your grandma is on your side. The best thing would be a two-pronged plan to talk with those of your family who are sympathetic, but secondly to rebuild your own life.

Where do you live in the world? If you're in Britain, there is a lot of help out there for young mums, free nursery places if you're working on a low income and help in all sorts of ways. Contact the Citizens' Advice Bureau, and you might also like to contact one of the ecumenically-minded local ministers or priests in your area, because they are familiar with picking up and beginning to heal the damage caused by cults like the Watchtower. You might even find help from a Women's Refuge, because whst the Watchtower does is abuse.

Before there was a Holy Book, and indeed before there was any book at all, mankind still had an awareness of a spiritual dimension. There is worldwide evidence in stones and ancient megalithic construction of their spiritual leanings.

As to whether there would be an awareness of God as in the Watchtower's Jehovah, I think, gratefully, that the answer's a resounding no!

Yes, this idea isn't new at all. But we need to remember it is just one of many theories, from Santorini to an area off the Canaries to the mythical lost land off the coast of North Wales...believed by some.

Relocation of UK Bethel

i heard a rumour that the uk hq is moving from mill hill in london to a location in essex near chelmsford.

explanation being that it's closer to the transport networks.

anyone know anymore?.

Fleaman, they are called that now. When I was still in an elder called me over to read the first letter with that new heading pinned on the board.

As he told me, it was a very great example of how the all-wise (he didn't say that!) GB care for the brothers and sisters by making sure that they all know they are Christian. (They wouldn't have known otherwise...OK, he didn't say that either.)

i actually never logout.

i don't remember all the passwords, etc, i made up, to enter.

LOL! I just did exactly that, tried to open a message and logged myself out!

The real bugbear is that I have to go through the whole process of deciphering that *****Captcha thing again! When the word is the, no problem. When it's grLstIInG or equivalent in twisty writing it can take ages!

Rewriting the dictionary

i got a really lengthy pm from a poster i don't know, scolding me for saying there is a difference between rape and religious abuse.

i recently had a conversation with someone who says eating oysters is vegetarian.

when i pointed out it isn't, the person said we all have different definitions of vegetarian.

Dead right, Phizzy. Masters of propaganda they certainly are.

To be honest, I think it's a bit much to assert that rape and religious abuse are one and the same, though each most definitely is abuse. No doubt about that.

Also, come to think of it, each comes about because of predatory behaviour. What could be more predatory than the planned spiritual and psychological onslaught of JW propaganda.

The brainwashing in the Trinity booklet is powerful stuff. There are ex-JW's who determinedly cling on to the Watchtower's rubbishing of the Trinity while asserting their rejection of other WT teachings.

They do it even while maintaining belief in their own brand of Christianity, resulting in a rather bizarre hybrid mix.

i am currently reading bertrand russells "a history of western philosophy" and this passage struck me as true:.

scepticism naturally made an appeal to many unphilosophic minds.

people observed the diversity of schools and the acerbity of their disputes, and decided that all alike were pretending to knowledge which was in fact unattainable.

Please help. I am losing the plot.

after being a witness for 40 years, i now find myself disfellowshipped.. i have had a number of doubts for a few years now, but still feel as if i'm living my life in the "t minus " to armageddon spector.. my parents are in their 80's and my dear mother is in very bad health.

i was allowed to pop through - about once a month to make sure my parents were ok and for them to see their grandchildren.

this all ended after the july watchtower article and especially since the district convention - with all the "counsel" on associating with disfellowshipped family members.. around 6 weeks ago, my dad asked me point blank why i wasn't trying to get reinstated.

Definitely. I agree with all the above.

Don't worry about thinking of pouring glue all over the KH shutters! Perfectly normal and healthy! But probably best to keep it just as a thought, and set it gently aside. You can do without all the hassle it would bring. Remember, the place will be armed to the teeth with cameras! :)
