The Stone the Builders Rejected
by sabastious inin the first post in this series i discussed the identity of the watchtower as per revelation 13. the second post dealt with the identity of the harlot and the scarlet beast.
this post will deal with the third element "the image of the beast", lets read revelation 13:15-17:.
the second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.

Not authoritative, Cofty. Illustrative. it is actually also authoritative in that this thread is both interesting and informative and contains fundamental truths.
That instinctive use of the word fundamental there, which just came naturally to my mind, is itself indicative of the very subject matter here. Shelby is quite right. Of course Christ is the cornerstone, that fundamental first building-stone of any structure, as She points out above. This isn't way out cult talk. This is absolutely essential in understanding the nature of Christ, and indeed of God.
Christ is the cornerstone, the firstborn of all creation, the Word made flesh. It's astonishing to find it subjected to query.
Circumstances didn't allow me to get back to the thread as I'd hoped when I posted yesterday. Sab, you've done a huge amount of really valuable work.

Anyone Else See Les Miserables?
by BizzyBee ini went to see it today - by myself (mr bee is on a golf junket).
i was glad that that i was by myself because i cried so much at the end, i wouldn't have wanted to be with anyone who wasn't crying - and that would not have been mr bee!.
les miserables the current film is adapted from what is considered one of the half-dozen greatest novels of the past 150 years and one of the longest novels ever written.

Good reminder, Cofty.
I know that all manner of supposed fact is out there on the Internet about many well-known names. Equally, none of us can know for sure what is true and what is speculation.
Awful, where it's true.
Almost equally awful where it isn't true and an innocent person loses hid good name.

Governing Body, Faithful slave, or who?
by Chariklo ini have a question.
to most of you, this will seem elementary, and you'd think that after twenty months or so on this forum i'd know the answer, but i don't.
in this thread.

Exactly. The money and the power are obviously not in those old men fronting it.
I bet someone on this forum has a shrewd idea. Shadowy wielders of power are very interesting, and very sinister. I suspect the actual answer's MUCH less visible ...and more real... than the Vatican, bigmac! Though it might seem every bit as unlikely

In this thread
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/social/family/244912/1/I-just-want-to-keep-them-alive
Lois Lane looking for Superman writes of "a Multi-million (if not billion)dollar Worldwide Real Estate/Publishing Firm" who freely sel their writings, collect donations, get Kingdom Hall property signed over to them etc.
now, here's my question. I hope it doesn't sound too naive, but, just WHO is behind this money-making, property (real estate)-acquiring body? I think this is really two questions, not one.
1. Who do they SAY is behind it, I.e. who do they want people to believe is behind it? And
2. Who is REALLY behind it?
Who gets the money. Who administers the land? Who owns the land and buildings. Who. Organises and administers the farms and their produce.
In other words, where, actually, really and truly, is the money and, most of all, the power?
Is there any real motive other than greed?

Oh, Loz, follow all the advice given you. I really hope it's just a short-term flare-up caused by the cold. (And brrrrr...it's cold, isn't it?!)
Arthritis runs in my family. My sister has the beginnings of it. So far, I haven't, at least I don't think so. I really hope yours calms down.

You are indeed a good brother, OTWO. Like others, I have been in this kind of situation with my mother and another family member.
You are a star.
When I read the bit where you said what was. Really eating you was IF her husband had allowed you to help all those years ago, I thought to myself, no, don't go into What If's...nothing is ever gained from what if's.
But in fact, you then go on to explain just how trickily subtle the problems are, with the way your totally well-intentioned actions could be misinterpreted and made to look bad. I've been in situations like that too, where finding the correct way through an ethical maze where it all matters and one's heart is involved is so complex that it's impossible to find a clear cut right answer.
All you can do is to keep on keeping on trying to the best you can in a most unideal situation.
Thanks so much for sharing it here. I hope venting helped, too.
