Yes, I do see the point you're raising about CO's. To be honest, I'm not sure what I think about this, except that the CO's, and the DO I know, are in fact absolutely lovely people, really nice, really spiritual.

Are elders or CO acting as Paul did?
It's not the answer I suspect you're hoping for but from my observation, yes, very definitely, they are.
This is one of the things I notice here. Many posters write from what I'm sure is their own direct experience of abuses and appallingly hypocritical behaviour by elders.
Yet my admittedly limited and recent experience of them is exactly the opposite. I can't fault them. In spite of individual human imperfections, I can't fault the conduct of the local congregation in general.
Nor can I find the hypocrisy and abuses of privilege written about here in any of the congregations of which I have direct knowledge in my area. Believe me, I've looked. I observe.
So all I can say is, I can only speak as I find, but I must say that for the sake of honesty and balance. A closed mind set in negative mode would be just as bad as relgious indoctrination, don't you think?
i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.
Interesting, well argued and well-presented post, Jeremy. Two things, though:
When you take a look at many of the mega-churches for example, it is very impressive how much they put into creating support groups and programs for their young people.
Absolutely not in any of the mainstream churches in my area, where dwindling congregations and increasingly empty pews are leading to chruches and chapels closing in scores, and the average age of congregations heading into the sixties.
And secondly, I contrast this with the vibrant, enthusiastic and informed young people in the various JW congregations in my area.
So, speaking from my own direct personal experience, I can only say that I do not see young people (in my area anyway) leaving the Watchtower. Not en masse, though of course some are, just as some adults are.

That's if you are 100% sure. If any part of you is still wondering, then personally I don't think you should be swayed by JWN any more than you should be swayed by her. That's just my view.

when my littlest one was born we knew finding affordable daycare would be tough.
a sister in her congregation was suggested over and over and we finally checked her out and allowed her to keep the baby.
my oldest has had a fairly normal life (thanks largely to me and my wife before she became a witness) and because of that she is quick to speak of birthdays, holidays, etc.. i want her to continue to have a fairly normal life as i know how hard it would be for her to be 'singled out' because her friends decide to do these things.. she's about to start kindergarten and my wife wants to try some sister from her congregation who is looking to make some extra money providing before and after care.
She then insinuated that I was discriminating due to religion and performing an illegal act
That's the bit that worries me.
I agree with others that have advised going down the strictly neutral route. Ask what training she's had, what certificates she holds etc. Is she a licensed child minder?
A child's mind is a blank canvas, and in the early years most of all. Your children are precious. I think the very fact that you felt uneasy enough to ask the question here in the first place gives you your own answer.
Something feels wrong to you. Listen to your gut feeling.
i heard some analysts on the news recently saying that at the rate the us is falling and china rising, it is expected that china will be the super power within the next 30 or 40 years.
if that happens then i guess there will be another mass exodus of jws from the wt despite what new light they come up with.
but if the witlesses are right then that means god must intervene and the great tribulation and armageddon is coming in less than 30 or 40 years.
30-40 years from now, if we're still here, we'll just be in time to see Zefram Cochrane create the first warp drive!
