of course now the announcement is read "so and so is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses".
they read that statement twice, once for each of the names.

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah
by cofty inlistening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.
every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.
it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

I hate it now because I know it's their fake Pseudonym for Watchtower. Jehovah is a figure head.
Put Jehovah first = Put WT first
Draw close to Jehovah = Get more involved with WT
Obey Jehovah = Obey WT leadership

The statement sounded wonderful to me. I was shocked at my reaction. It used to be such a taboo thing. So solemn. Even sad. But now for me it is different. I honestly don't want to be one of Jehovahs Witnesses anymore, but I am staying in to slowly get my wife out. This time when I heard the announcement, I didn't hear sad at all. I heard relief. I heard honesty. I heard a clean slate.
If it happens to me one day, I will celebrate it. I will throw myself a coming out party.
With that said, my heart goes out to the people dealing with hurt from shunning.
But honestly I envied the two persons being read out. I wanted to be them.

Anthony Morris's talk about beards and facial hair
by EndofMysteries ini just found an archive of one of anthony morris's talks back from 1916, (yes the man is that old), about facial hair.
obviously he recycles his talks as it will sound very similar to a recent rant of his!
"it's in america, and it's in europe, they have the metrosexual look.

I cried laughing at that. One of the best laughs in a long time.
I could hear him saying that crap as I read it.
Whats crazy is, he actually should be saying that since facial hair is so obviously masculine.
Can you say "traditions of men"?

Forgiving Loans the Watchtower Way
by cofty inbank - thank you for maintaining your loan repayments for the past 3 years.
to show our appreciation we are forgiving the balance of your loan.
borrower - yeah!.

The "forever" part is where it gets fictional real fast. The WT may explain it that way and hope for that, but they also try and say things like there will be an "equalizing" among the Congs. Well everybody feels like they are the cong in "need" as soon as money gets tight. So 99% of Congs don't feel bad when they don't meet the monthly pledge, because "mother" will take care of it. You know...With the "equalizing" stuff. -

Invisible Rulership - one of the dumbest things I ever believed in
by Black Man inhaving now been out of the cult for a few years, it really shocks me about some of the nonsense i used to believe in.
like for instance, christ ruling in the midst of his enemies, but doing so invisibly.. let's let that one sink in for a minute.
you've supposedly got a king who is ruling for a kingdom, but it is an invisible rule.

Agreed... Especially considering they changed their tune after nothing visible happened. Convenient much?
It's a face-palm for sure.

Give me 5 minutes to explain...
by pixel ini keep thinking about the time i will "come out" and tell my wife about this sick cult.
i don't know when that day will come, but knowing me i will seat down with her and ask her for 5 minutes to explain to her why we as a family has to get out.
my question is: what will you tell somebody in 5 minutes, that will convince that perdon that this is not a good religion to follow and that we have been deceived?.

I actually talked my wife into having a discussion about some of the things that have been "bothering me". I went with the (ridiculous) scripture the whole "new light" crap comes from. I had her read the whole chapter in Proverbs and then tell me what she thought it was about. Thankfully she played along. She saw the obvious point that it was just contrasting a righteous person and a wicked person.
I then pointed out that this is the chapter where they get the teaching about "new light". She looked puzzled. I then pointed out the verse. She saw my point but said she would do some research.
I then said I have a problem with all the failed prophesies. Then I showed her that scripture in Deut. about how to determine a false prophet. She said, "Well you have something there, I have to admit it." Again, though she said she would do more research.
So that was my 5 minute episode (prob more like 15). My take on it is this. The stimulus of doubt probably can't come from outside the person. I think I planted some seeds, but nothing earth shattering.
It takes a person months of "studying" to become one. It takes at least that long to un-become one, I would say.
