Good job pointing to the solution.
Developing critical thinking skills enables a person to see through all cons and those who seek to control us.
This can happen in religion, business, politics, family, you name it...

this great video explains what critical thinking really is, and why it is a skill all humans need to employ in daily life.. the expression had been distorted by the society to something that is negative or wrong, yet that is far from the case.....

it looks to me as though they are saying don't play at a higher level because your then in competition?
so if i'm correct what if any bible scriptures can be used to back up this anti competitive idea and are there other scriptures showing the opposite?.
When I was a kid the explanation for not joining clubs or sports teams after school was that the time should be spent in spiritual pursuits.
Guess what i did after school?
Played ball with kids in the neighborhood.
It's about control. Kill the dreams.

I think that while a relationship between a teacher and a student can be inappropriate, I think that is certainly a rare thing. Teachers often have good strong relationships with their best students. Many of these relationships last for many years and progress more into a mentor type connection instead of just another school teacher.
Also if this student was being groomed for Drum Major then that is a different level of engagement between the band teacher and student. It would be the equivalent of a football coach and his star quarterback. So you can imagine if next year's starting quarterback joined a cult and quit football what the reaction might be from the coach.
Anyhow, good for him speaking his mind in a controlled intelligent way. I don't know if I will be able to stomach this video if it is being played at the convention.
the generation that will be no means pass away have passed away.. the 144,000 were sealed up in 1935, oh, no wait, we got that wrong, we still have some.. russel is the faithful and wise servant... oh, no he wasn't it was me, rutherford... no, actually, we got that wrong it's knorr... erm, no we mean the governing body.. shunning is pagan, true christians would never do that (1946)... oh, actually, we should do that too.. the revelation book has been re-written.. the un is the satan's visible organisation.. wtbs signs up for fellowship with the un in 1991.. exposed in the guardian newspaper so ends it's fellowship in 2001.. the greatest man book is now obsolete and replaced with another jesus book.. the mags are reduced in pages.. encouraged to use tablets instead of actual books to save paper (money).
halls being sold off.. congregations sharing halls.. society owned buildings being sold off.. video pertitioning for money only last year to fund a new building.. bethelites reduced.. missionaries sent back home.. young members leaving.. long time members discovering the history and leaving.. how long do you think this religion has left?
i cant see it being here in another 100 years.
They can drag on for decades. Like SBF said long slow decline. It may be increased with a very public scandal but that would just drop membership potentially, the assets can still be sold off, borrowed against, money moved around, steal from Peter to pay Paul, etc. for who knows how long.

those who were baptized as jehovah’s witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned.
in fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.. we do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin.
It's called a half-truth. It's told deliberately to deceive and lead a person to a false conclusion. Their literature speaks against this, calling it a lie. So by their own definition they are liars.
If pressed they would make excuses possibly bring up "theocratic warfare" or being "cautious as serpents", but the truth is they are hiding their beliefs and practices.
What happened to giving a bold witness? What happened to standing up for what is right (according to them)? Where is their faith that Jehovah will bless them for "making a defense" of their beliefs?
Double standard. One of many.
...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.
bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.
Like you said in the OP, mainly I just see what a person can enjoy now as long as you have some extra change in your pocket. $$$
I guess to uneducated window washers it's something you can only dream of. 😳
How pathetic is that?
my maternal grandfather, adolph joseph deman, was in his mother's womb as the family crossed the ocean from east flander, belgium.
he was the first to be born in the u.s. in 1885. his father's death in 1888 contributed to his departure from school and work as a lad in the iron mines of republic, michigan.
the house he later built on a homestead in maple valley, washington, near kent, was a substantial pillar in my unstable early life as a precocious jw child in a dysfunctional home.
What a great story.
I have fond memories of working in service with my paternal grandfather. He also kept it crazy simple. He would just have a set of magazines folded in half in his back pocket, no bible, whip em out and hand them to the householder. He would say like one line and bid them good day.
Thanks for sharing that...
can you allay my suspicions of wt associated activity?.
during the last 3 to 4 co visits, i noticed a predeliction on the part of the ladt few co's for taking photos at fs meetings and photos of cong at end of visit.
i'm beginning to suspect that such is not because the co's have a newly found socially engaging disposition (being cool).
I have seen it a few times also. I believe it is coming from the branch. One overseer said as much.
I see it as corporate mumbo jumbo. Part of it is the branch is seeking proof the overseer had the class or served the cong. They may use the pics for marketing/ propaganda of course at some point also.
i started leaving the group in 04', and quit following what they do around 08'.
my recent posts express my reaction to what has happened since.. i just "tuned in" to the jw broadcasting episode for may 2016. it is worth a viewing.
gb member anthony morris describes what is basically the thrust of why this entire effort exists.
I agree with your basic premise that the org doesn't know what the hell it's doing with kids and that is a long term handicap.
It's what you get from a doomsday cult that refuses to admit it's a religion.
If they had any common sense they would also get more involved in the community. Ever heard of charity? How about a food drive or something? How about taking up some money for that family across town that lost their home in a fire?
They are too preoccupied with trying to be God's Paul Revere to figure out that they're just another church and their members actually want/need that.

They've gotten by with so little before (tools specifically for youth), it's hard to argue these videos aren't a step up.
The truth is this org doesn't give a good damn about kids. Now they are showing an interest suddenly but purely for self serving reasons. The leadership sees them as future members (donars).
The sudden interest in children (I thought JW's werent supposed to have them) is actually another sign of their desperation as oldskool pointed out in other threads.
Their biggest problem by far is apostasy on the internet. Apostasy has led to stalled growth. So they are resorting to ramping up customer retention methods and winning back old customers (inactive).
