  Are JWs making themselves sick?

  i am reading steve hassan's book, freedom of mind.

  on page 120, he lists some ways that a cult member will elicit their authentic identity.

  1. creating illnesses, such as skin problems, asthma, or allergic reactions, that give the cult member an excuse to sleep or take time off from work.. my mom has had a mysterious rash, creeping and reappearing on her face and body, for months.

  I would also argue that religions/cults cause illness too, many health issues are induced by stress, home life and beliefs.

  The JW's live an unnecessary burdensome life, It suits the religion because the people feel oppressed and blame the 'world'....oh the iromy.

  Then there are financial and family/social stressors Of being a WT. i would not underestimate the affect of heavy drinking as is VERY common in JW's. It bothered me as a JW, now so more than ever after some distsnce away. It is all they do to relax, that is an issue and has consequences to heslth.

  Many JW's have diseases associated with stress and depression such as m.e, fibromyalgia, polymyalgias, irritable bowel syndrome etc etc. many 'burn out'.I remember one m.servant that was ill for over 12 months with a viral disease, it was legit.

  of course there are health benefits to being in a cult.....keeping the mind busy and all that walking is good for you, note it is also good for you without the suit/dress and fundamentalist beliefs.

  I'm a respecter of freedoms and truth, including the right to appraise and question all information.

  i wont play their games and use their draconian labels, but if the above makes you apostate by their standards.... Then it is our label whether we want it or not.

  On a positive note, their opinion of us is insignificant to the opinion the world has on WT, a fundementalist, ignorant cult..... So we win.....we got out...label or not.

  How would elders react if I tell them that I would accept blood?

  just recently i explained to my parents and my wife in detail, why i would accept blood or red, white blood cells, platelets or plasma in a medical emergency.

  i showed them the inconsistencies and flaws about blood fractions and also the biblical reasons that show clearly that jehovah and jesus do not want a jehovah's witness to die because of that wrong doctrine.. my parents reacted surprised.

  they are both about 50 years in the "truth.

  This silver sword milarchy, I am convinced this kind of thing is started in Bethel.

  Much terminology in the JW's is international despite not appearing in literature. I remember finding this odd.

  Relocation of UK Bethel

  i heard a rumour that the uk hq is moving from mill hill in london to a location in essex near chelmsford.

  explanation being that it's closer to the transport networks.

  anyone know anymore?.

  I was in bethel in 2000 when the last plan started, it was discussed at breakfast (mw), then it was excitedly discussed by everyone for weeks. They talked of sites and areas of the country. They 100% used the same phrase...i.e.somewhere better connected for national transport.One morning we were told to hush and they strictly told us it was not to be mentioned again, it was not going to happen as armageddon was so close. The effort was to go into printing and ministering. The End .... That was 13 years ago.

  i had a pal with an office ( that meant something in bethel), he said that in reality Brooklyn had said 'nope!' and that was that!

  With warwick on the GO and the UK having some minor influence/say (more so than a smaller country), I wouldn't be suprised if the uk didn't put its foot down a little and demand it. IBSA house was pretty rough when I left, it csn't be much better now.

  p.s. I had a room in one of those houses, all I remember is the fanatical rules about using a window wiper blade to clean the glass after using the shower, it was noted if and when you forgot......
