  i do not think god is a'morphic.

  god is not human, so hence he does not possess human characteristics, to know god better and to understand him better i study science.

  there has been a new discovery of strange signals picked up from black holes and distant supernovae suggest there's more to space-time than einstein believed.

  yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

  we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

  they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

  Xanthipipe, if god created the atom and the laws of physics that constrain it, then there are no rules. He could simply create a planet without need forperilous tectonic plate movements. Or maybe if he isnt much of an ideas guy, there could be a huge warning noise formed a week before so all know to move away! Its a bit of a microsoft update, bodge job, but better than dying babies.....

  Would you build the planet this way xanthipipe? Remember, there are no constarints as YOU designed the whole universe, everything.

  i think this could be a topic on it's own, i posted it earlier in a reply:.

  one of my relatives in amsterdam has connections with the inner circle (staff) at watchtower hq.

  he was told that watchtower was planning moving out of brooklyn decades ago (before 1995).. when the city of new york started bidding for the summer olympics 2012, watchtower made serious plans and made agreements for leasing their buildings for tourist accommodation during the olympics.. from the moment it was known that new york didn't get the olympics in 2012 they started selling their property.. my source is the most reliable, this is absolute true.

  When I first started reading watchtowersoup on my old nokia (wap saved my life), i remember one post being about a huge conference centre WT had built on a beautiful resort, it was a news item. In it, they said they would hire the venue out. It went on to say how it was built by volunteers and would be used for JW teaching too of some kind.

  I was gobsmacked, but now it just seems so obvious. Replace WT with 'religion x' hiring out venues and you soon conclude 'of course, why wouldnt they, its all about the profits, erm we mean prophet$".

  provides support for my theory that the society wants to 'hide out' in an area dominated by jewish enclaves - who quietly are a publically unchallenged 'law unto themselves' as they dominate or largely control wide swaths of ny territory right down to local pta elections.. this is not politically correct stuff, folks but power brokers in ny state gov.

  Go back to education :D

  Do a 1year intense 'access course' in college for any area you are fond of.... Law, midwifery , engineering, nursing, science, medicine, maths, literature...

  Then go to university!

  Make friends, a nice life for yourself and a future career! Win, win, win!

  Cofty's point, is that god wouldnt have got a job in Apple, with his shoddy handywork. To say this planets perilous activity is the only way god could have built a planet is to reduce god to a failure in woodwork, the easisest of all subjects :P

  Many JW's have the 1950's in mind because of what I wrote above. In reality it is perspective, the 50's brough the Korean war, hurrendous racism in America and South Africa. The theft of a nation in Palestine. The Vietnam war....

  So it depends on where you were and who you were, what colour your skin was etc. this is a VERY important point.

  Look now, ignorant JW's look at the economic climate of thw west and say 'see the prophecies are coming true' whilst in China, they are coming out of poverty weekly in the hundreds of thousands. China, the worlds largest population is becoming wealthy, it is seeing a release from hurrendous poverty right before our eyes, but because we have to pay more for some fruit and it is a bit harder to buy an iphone, they believe the world is ending. How small minded, ignorant and offensive can they be!

  It is small minded, close minded thinking that makes people look only at the life they live and think THAT is representative of life in year 'x'

  Which god and what evidence is there for him/her?

  What texts are you using to define him and based on what evidence do you use them?

  There is a reason science and faith don't mix, keep applying the scientific method and you won't get past the first step. Science is for the observable, predicatble and repeatable.

  Debate god and religion all day long philosophically, but it is impossible to squeeze science in, its like using a calculator to weigh a sentence.

  Science doesn't do the supernatural.

  I have asked current JW's to come back to me with a year they would rather live in, in history.... Its a great question.

  The ones that shoot back answers, usually do so without much thought, the industrial revolution was hell on earth, our early century was world wars and poverty. It gets worse and worse the further back one goes.

  It is a great tactic when talking to JW's. The watchtower leaders are in their later years of life, of course they think the world stinks, of course they are afraid of everything new and of course they wish everything was the way it was 50 years ago when they were 21 and single. Once you realise this, much of WT doctrine and outlook makes sense.

  Any history book, stats of infant mortality, quality of life quality of health, life expectatncy, crime rates etc, depending where,you live... But largely NOW is the best time to be alive!
