a young, progressive, kind elder wants to have a chat with me on sunday after the meeting.

we've talked before and been quite open about the judgemental attitudes 'we' have as witnesses, and he was completely in agreement, stating that he's never understood the beard thing among other issues, and wants to see the society moving forward by change..

i've no doubt he just wants to encourage me to up my hours or reach out again, but it's nerve wracking, as i know i'll say something i'll regret.

Be careful Captain Blithering, these 'visits' are designed into the sytem or more than just 'encouragment'.

I am sure from talking to you that you have a plan. If things coming out now is not part of it, don't go there. They don't take ANY insubordination lightly. Most JW's disagree with beard doctrines etc, most young elders are a little more liberal...

But don't forget what you are dealing with...... if ....if... you have a plan.

I had one 'chat', I intended it, but things moved VERY quickly. I simly asked about owning a miliary company (rand cam), controversial doctrines and the authenticity of the literature. Within 7 days I was banned from a wedding party and labeled dangerous

Who Made The Code?

a few weeks ago, discoveries were made that show that there is another dna code language that rides on top of the already incredibly complex 4-letter code previously discovered.

this newly discovered code apparently regulates how genes work.

as i noted in a previous thread, the amount of data storage available in the dna storage system just the size of a pin-head would filll a stack of books stacked from your driveway to the moon .... 500 times!

BTW we have sufficiently explained the evolution of most of the stages of evolution of the cells organelles.

It is complicated stuff. If you don't even know what an organelle is, how can you go read about it? How can you google it?

This is why cellular biology is a degree in itself and one of the largest biology textbooks, taking 3 years to get to degree level (lowest in post school academia).

If you haven't broken open a biology textbook and read the chapters on DNA, go ahead and do so.

Atoms have a charge, they naturally collate together, even in space.

Atoms become molecules, compunds etc. These things also have charge, they interact and join together with other molecules dependant on the charges and enviroments.

These joined up elements can form all sorts of things, sugars, acids, water... these again have charges and attrctive-repellant properties.

You can guess where this is going, these things grow based on the enviroment and interactions of the forces.

Acids and sugars are DNA, when interacting with other molecules, they help jin together other molecules, these chains eventually become long enough to become proteins. Proteins are the basic unit of all the bodies tissues.

This process of joining together and interacting are based on laws of physics and influeced by the enviroment.

Taking a step back, the same molecules in the same situation will do the same thing, and other molecules will do different things... To simplify we give reference to

molecule one A

we call molecule two T

molecule three C

and molecule four G

Oh look, in different combinations these molecules form different proteing ACTG ATTT ATGT......

To call this a code, is to misunderstand what just happened ! WE MADE THE CODE to differentiate things we observed.

We can measure the universe with mathmatics, whether it be defining what an angle is, ascribing 360 degrees to a circle and pi. We can then go find mathmatical logical throughout the universe, because we have defned the rules of observation, measurement. It doesn't mean it is a code laid down by someone! That assumption is based on out human perception that CODES and LANGUAGE are made by someone. But WE ascribed the things we saw in the universe, letters, numbers, to better understand it in a perspective we can better understand.

yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

Something that I find odd, is how I used to reconcile issues such as death, illness, disasters. Your latest replies make me think, with respect, that you underestimate what a 'god' is, specifically, the 'god' of the bible, the 'god' of the judeo-christians.

This god made everything, can do anything.

I sincerely used to think the same thing Tec, but looking back, I can't believe that I did not recognise that god created everything, he did so because of his will, for nothing happens outside his will right? He created ....sin....death.....cancer....... suffering....

The very concept of suffering had to be invented, it had to be thought out and created. Some non-thinking people will ascribe all of these things to Satan, handing over to Satan the power to create, to design. This is not at all scriptural. God clearly designed suffering, illness, death as a punishment.

Ignoring Adam and Eve and eating some fruit, there is NO JUSTIFICATION for inventing, creating these things in the first place. God didn't have to design punishment and forgiveness and death and cancer and drowning and crushing and infant mortality. You may believe Adam stepped in the terd and brought it on us, but that does not contemplate WHERE these evil, disgusting, immoral concepts come from, if you believe a personality willfully brought them into life.

When I was a christian I thought on such a small scale, I reduced the power of god and ignored where the worst suffering of the universe came from.

People think being an atheist is a scary, lonely, dark place... maybe this is an insight in how empowering it is, to look at the universe, recognise the data that implies that it has formed without any deity, its random chaotic nature is indeed frightening, but at least it wasn't invesnted, designed, created and introduced into the universe by my hero.... yaweh.

Either he isn't there, or his behaviour doesn't deserve reverence... in my humble opinion.

These are the most important questions in the universe.... what better things to discuss?

Thankfully it is a forum, join in or jog on.....

Outlaw, I find your cartoons fun and thoughts interesting, but don't attack Cofty for discussing one of the most important theological questions of our time on a religious forum. Besides, he did not bait anyone , he related a story and people started to try and impress upon him their theological reasonings. Now they have not been able to satisfy his musings and to be honest probably a few of peoples concerns about deity and suffering, some have started to get personal and question his right to even discuss it. It just seems like the last resort of someone who has no answers.

Cofty and agnostics/atheists simply share that there is no reasonable answer to such theological questions (hence his OP and life choices), by distancing from the question of suffering in a universe where god has power to do anything, people are likewise admitting that to this specific question.... there is no logical, reasonable, sensible, comprehendable answer....

For some this is an element of their desicion to become an agnostic/atheist... for some it is another mystery that they have about their god.

I know I was not allowed to consider these things as a JW, I did consider them, but I did so alone and it was a lonely, difficult theological stage of my life, though the conclusions I came to were wholly my own, I believe it is a healthy and rewarding thing to bring up in a discussion.

i don't know how to handle the situation with a fellow apostate who has lost their mind due to this evil cult.

this guy is texting many of the elders under alias of six different cell-phones no less than twenty times a day.. .

we had to change the locks at the kingdom hall because he was still stalking and prowling around the hall after advertsing he had left the kingdom hall and we were all no less than mind-dead zombies sucking out of the life of thinking individuals.

If you know where he lives, maybe drop an anonymous letter saying there are many out there and give them the address for this forum so we can help him in any wasy we can. Talk him out of his current behaviour.

That said, he seems to be doing everything we have all thought about doing lol.... the man has nuggets!

I feel sorry for him, signpost him here if you can. We can let him vent here and recgnise he hasn't just lost his universe, but found the real one.

i would have to humbly disagree, our mind is influenced by external sources and inputs whether we want them or not. We don't choose to take an action, we react based on the external data we have taken on.

If you lived the last 24 hours over again, without knowing you were, you would make the exact same desicions and choices, for the same reason you did the first time around. You chose cornflakes because you saw the box and your memory initiated a want for them, you wore the red socks because they were top of your drawer. You decided to go the other route to work because you got out early and fancied a change.... and on repeating the day you would make the exact same decisions for the same reasons. This negates free will and choice, we will always make the desicions we make because of previous influences leading to that point in time.

it has interesting religious significsnce... How can we be judged, when we were ALWAYS going to peform that act because of previous influences that were not our own.

even if you wish to say we can influence ourselves,by taking on data and contemplating it in our minds, well our mind is given to us, we don't select it or construct it. Our mind can be altered by chemical, anatomical, developmental variations...It is not our will or determination !
