  What Made U Feel Special As A Jehovah's Witness?

  All religions do it, united in defence from global persecution from everyone else on earth. In reality, nobody gives a flying fig..

  Avoid Going back to the JW's - Educate Yourself about Mind Control

  i've talked with some good friends on the board about this before and we seem to be in agreement : one reason ( among many ) that some disfellowshipped jw's go back and return to the wt organization is because they are full of uneeded guilt or uneeded fear because they haven't educated themselves about how the wt society uses mind control tactics to deceive them into thinking they have " nowhere else to go " .

  i understand that some dfed ones may go back to the organization for family and friends- however- it's an exrecise in futility because once you learn the truth about the truth you cannot undo what you heard.

  so some may just go back and live a fake jw life to appease family- but just think of how that can damage a person's emotional and mental health playing the fake jw game the rest of their lives !

  Everyone that plucks up the courage to leave contributes to the societies downfall. I see it as similair to those times in history where morals overtook fears such as with slavery, racism, nazi germany etc. Evil prevais when good men do nothing!

  I hope I would be one of the people being beaten for defending black people or go to war for a slaves freedom. However, right now, we do have a means to make a moral desicion that can either be part of the problem, or the solution....

  Also for those with children, I can't think of a worse thing to teach or show your children, than to stand by a movement you don't believe in and even vehemently disagree with, yet do and say nothing.... even go door to door promoting It! Maybe even feeding the tripe to your very own precious children!

  Courage and free thinking will bring Watchtower down, from the inside out....... but that is not any one person's duty, just do the right thing by yourself and your family, if enough do that it will fall soon enough.

  UNITY vs CONFORMITY - discuss.

  i've read the walsh trial that indicates the societies stance of ' unity at all costs, even if we're wrong ' but that sounds more like conformity to me.

  so how do other religions or movements justify the range of beliefs within their respective movements?

  for example, the born again movement, a massive range of beliefs, but they don't insist on conformity.

  Unity and conformity are behaviours and traits seen in us, in animals. They sre hijacked by religions and alike. We no longer live in the jungle, so for me I am happy to not be a sheepin the middle of the herd anymore. There is lazy reward in following the herd, no thinking, no effort, no responsibility, just as conforming and being united in beliefs in a religion.

  Having experienced both, I can say that going it alone is scary, but one hundred times more rewarding. Exactly as TJ quoted "Give me liberty or give me death!" Once you taste freedom, for me after leaving WT, you could never give it up again without a loss to your soul.

  I still conform and I am somewhat united in social constructs such as respected social behaviours and legal law. But I do those things primarily because they are evolutionarily beneficial.

  I think these two things, unity and conformity, are in our DNA, they are natural in such a social species as ours. For me, it is just another thing religions and other groups have hijacked, not all for bad, not all for good such as drug gangs, sports teams, soldiers etc etc.

  p.s. I know this is 100% my opinion, no need for an in depth thread on it or to pretend there are right answers on any of this stuff yet. Apart from our obvious evolutionary traits for unity and conformity, the rest in conjecture. Also yes, brush strokes is sn accurate depictionof how I write here, i bomb in and out in spare time. it's just a light chat, hey! X

  my wife asked me "what, do u believe in evolution now?

  because im watching a science show?

  Evolution, abiogenesis, the big bang.... These are not things that are in any way associated with personal opinion or belief.

  Reality IS reality !!!

  I can't say it strongly enough, the truth, the reality.... does not care about your opinion, my opinion, your pastor's opinion & we should teach our kids the truth and reality of what we know and have evidence for. If that conflicts with 2000 year old jewish scrolls.... That is not our problem, it is between the believer and their scrolls. If they choose to deny reality for the scrolls.... fine, but step aside as humanity WILL progress on without them...

  This issue is starting to make me annoyed.... We are dealing with facts here, there is no debate. If you don't believe in evolution it is because you have not understood it or bothered to look at the evidence. For those that have, commitments to Genesis or a Surah, make it impossible for them to believe, so they find ANY issue of debate in evolution to dismiss 150 years of irrefutable evidence.

  it is sincerely equivelant to denying that the earth spins!

  Jon Preston, there is nothing to be ashamed, embarassed, scared of about believing in REALITY. with respect, grow some balls, your wife can mock you, but she has an empty bag of reasons as to why you aee wrong!

  well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.

  When I was leaving, a friends father was commuicating via his son. He was a presiding overseer, his message was that he didn't agree with all the doctrines or directives either, that it was nomal to feel that and that there was nowhere else to go. His mum admitted to believing evolution to likely be true when I brought it up and his dad and he (a M.S.) both admitted to using phrases like "he GB suggest..." or "The organisation has said we should..." whenerve they felt uncomrtable communicating doctrine etc they didn't agree with.

  My point is Disp-Hero, they are not united, you have 7 million people too scared to say how they really feel and what they truly believe. WT is an organisation where excommunication takes place if you have ANY independant beliefs or even thinking. You are not permitted to accept scientific fact and accept evolution. You may not bring up your concern that at the very first memorial, not one person was 'anointed'. You may not diagree with 607, there is no doubt in my mind that at least half of JW's disagree with the blood issue. The medical journals indicate that at least 20% of JW's accept blood in secret.

  They are not united, they are gagged.

  Ruby, I take what you say and totally agree, however I was reffering to freedom of thought and belief, a spiritual imprisonment, a belief system of constraint. Mouse A+B can live in mazes of the same design, i.e. they could both be catholics, but take different directions on some matters. But they are both united in sharing the same construct of belief. Whereas mice B +C have a different lay out to that of A+C, different religious restrictions.

  Evolutionary traits answer so many of our questions in life. Religion thrives on tribalism and xenaphobia, harwired traits that keep you alive on the plains of Africa. They make you feel safe, part of a crowd. The deeper to the centre you get the safer you feel, but the centre is reserved for the dominant members, far from the outskirts, the area of risk.

  The cost of such comfort and safety? Loyalty/confrmity to the dominant centre, the alpha males.

  Fred Phelps died, he saw his non believing grandaughter whilst he was dying a few weeks back, so 8 male members of the church formed a body and removed him from the church for being weak, they even removed him from his house which was based in the church building. Now they have attacked the woman we all associated with the WB Church his daughter, the 8 men have told her to be subdued as she is a woman, they are threatening her excommunication now too. It al plays out, just like a nature documentary.....

  If you want unity, give us loyalty, if not out you go alone... We have all experienced it, hence we came here looking to replace that need for a crowd heading in the same direction, as we pass through this time and space in our universe.

  Whats the difference between a rank and file member and a G.B.member .

  and r.& f. member , initially beleived with our whole soul that jehovahs witnesses had the ultimate truth over every other religion .. the differences between the g.b.

  members and the r&f members is simply this.

  members are given power and authourity by the r.&f members to dictate to them what they should beleive through new light revelations.

  Just got a call from an elder

  so i faded over a year ago...i told the elders that if i needed them i would call them.

  1 year and 3 months later, today, i get a call from an elder who used to be my good friend...he calls and i dont pick up..he leaves a voicemail, saying "hello ____, please call me back at 444-444-4444 whenever you can".

  i was like wow, this has to be one of those calls to get inactive ones back to the memorial.

  Probably sat with a list of numbers to call.....

  Ever day my old belief system seems wierder and wierder, the fact they think they can call and leave a message like that and not have the perspective to realise how cold, businesslike and eye opening such a message is.

  "you will know them by the [fake] love they have amonst themselves."
