  The Bible is NOT Error-Free

  for many christians, the bible is viewed as the 100% error-free, perfect book straight from god, where every single word was carefully chosen by god for a reason.

  but, usually, when you have a discussion on the topic, these christians will end up saying that only the original copies written directly from the hands of the prophets and apostles were error-free, and all manuscript copies since then are subject to copyist mistakes and other errors.. since zero original copies are in existence, how do we know the originals were error-free?

  why should we think the originals should be error-free to begin with?

  The very racist separation of Jews and Gentiles, would not even exist without the bible and it's God. The bible is riddled with commandments and rules for slavery, never once condemning it, quite the opposite. As for the sexism in the bible, a good example being that a female slave was worth less and had to stay a slave longer..... Makes your chosen verse a mockery.

  no offence, but I assume, this is why you didn't quote it, but instead gave a very biased interpretation.

  the verse is saying, despite the difference between Jew and gentile, slave and free man, female and male, all are serving/ adhering to Jesus.

  Had it been moral, the verse would have not separated people by race, sex and ownership. It would have said all these things are in fact immoral!

  I am am amazed that you chose this verse, really.

  hi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.

  during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.

  the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

  This was Watchtowers attempt to be human, to laugh at itself A LITTLE TEENY BIT, but with a hunge dollop of .....yes this sounds complicated and odd, but remember WE DO believe it still....

  The good thing is, thanks to the weird zoom ins and actors crazy eyes and accent, it all comes off very, very weird.

  There is no way, you can't see that and not ponder how weird the JWs are in 2015, it was kind of the motive for the video.

  FT you say, rightly that it's possible the bible is an uninspired book of men, but intelligently added that IF it was, the good morals within are still useful.

  I'd like to ask, can you name any bible morals, that were not written elsewhere or evidenced before It was written in the bible?

  in 2000 the website for the engine displayed lots of pictures of the navy and had a 'military applications' page. Oddly now it's all gone....

  10 years and Satan finally struck....

  i left around a decade ago, life has not been easy, but it has been profoundly better than the jw robotics my earlier life chapters resembled.. my current life was going so well, too well...... and finally the nemesis of jahooha came out from his dark hiding place.

  no longer in gods tent i was as vulnerable as the chinese job and his unfortunate sheep and children.. satan, bless his socks of cotton, has finally attacked, he broke my leg the dark lordy bastard.. a spiral fracture of the fibula and various fractures the ankle joint.. the worst of all his evil doings was the story i have to tell people, it's 'mechanism of injury'..... i slipped on some grass.

  yes the devilish ball rash, got me good.. so now, i sit bored, wishing i had meetings to prepare for, talks to write and i long for the live bombing i would have received as an interesting new kingdom hall event in the decades of waiting on jahooha..... but all i have is some lame ass, american apostates on a forum..... tchhhh.... .

  i found jw's like to make ignorant, disproportionate claims qbout their achievements and activity.. despite the abundance of free labour, free money in the billions and the ability to make people do as they wish, the ridiculous claim that even a 3 day quickbuild is a miracle has finally been put to shame.

  i remember such claims of assistance from god, evident by projects that went on for weeks and months!

  it's just a timber frame building with a layer of bricks one side and paint the other!

  Best Argument for Atheism - In your view.

  if crisis of conscience is one of the top watchtower doctrine killers, what is the coc of theism?.

  i'd like to read a book, or other material that does the best job logically arguing for atheism.. i've not read any darwin, however it is my assumption that his focus is primarily on evolution, is this correct?

  if you were to recommend one book or a few pieces of reading material, which do the best job of defending atheism, what would they be?.
