i just had some random thoughts and questions and decided it might be tiresome to start a different thread for each one, so i'm consolidating.. suppose someone had a sign showing a picture of a gun pointed at you and a caption saying "this shun gun is pointed at you.

" then suppose this sign was shown to visiting jehovah's witnesses without saying a single word.

how do you think they would react?.

Ding....... I mean....... Seriously...... That is the worst reasoning for any biblical doctrine ever...

God is the colour blue with white stripes! How do we know this? It's obvious..... Car hoods can be red with white stripes..... And don't they look mighty? Don't they often sound mighty? a mustang in particular looks good with a red hood with white stripes, mustangs were horses, horses evolved with a common ancestor to a dog.... Now this is the bit that will give you goose bumps.... Ready?.... Spell D.O.G backwards..... That's right! And hence god is blue with white stripes (a prophetic hand to the last days as there s also 'randomly' a band called the white stripes in Satans system.... A coincidence the Darwinists would claim!)

Dont you see the undeniable logic? No....? Maybe your heart is closed to Jebus Crisp.

harleybear... thats insane.... getting on the platform and kneeling down. It really was a nazi regime in cheap suits.

I knew pioneer sisters that were 'talked to' because they wore denim skirts, not obvious denim, the classy style. After a war of words between elders and the sisters husbands (women should be seen but not heard), the dresses were not to be worn again. Then a month later the latest magazine came out and in it was a sister wearing a denim skirt. Of course one of the elders was shown the picture, but he said as it was an older sister in the hall that was offended, it was best if they remained non denim....... Beards being forbidden is something we just all accepted. How dumb and stupid were we ! I am going to say the obvious now that every JW has said "But Jesus and Moses and the fairy godmother had a beard in the bible!"

But it goes deeper than that, this is a VERY trong rule in the JW's and if you went to the bible, not only does every charachter have one, they have one because God has quite specific rules (fantasies) about men and their soup catchers...

The only words from God about beards are LEAVE THEM ALONE.... what happened to being overly cautious in pleasing god ?

This issue is significant as it proves the WT is all about obeying THEM ! I dont think they have any weird problems with beards, i think they are stuck in the 30's and think beards are unkept and all the other crap they say about gods wonderful handy work (fingers were crossed). But yeah, the only words from god on beards are all pro beard, yet a beard can lose you your privelages and place in gods earthly organisation... according to some .

c.t russell was, they admit 90% wrong.. ditto for rutherford.. ditto for a lot in the intervening years, wrong and wrong again, so the need for "new light".. what makes them think that the 2012 version is any more right than the previous tripe ?.

Yeah sorry to annoy you, its obviously a survey with satanic bias..... it was the atheists and agnostics. To you that may be confusing, to me it makes perfect sense.. and here is the issue.. PERSPECTIVE.

Firstly, atheist is a religious term. There is no word for people that dont believe in unicorns and fairies. Also how much info do you have on Zeus? Do you believe in Zeus? Do you think that everyone that does not believe in Zeus has the same knowlege that you do on Zeus?

Religion puts people in boxes, much like your awful chart. If you are a JW you dont believe in evolution because that has been dictated to you. Sorry to make things a little complex for your box of generalisations, but when you leave religion (call it atheism/agnosticisim if you wish) you are free to know and believe what you wish.... scary hey... all that freedom.

I have never been so informed in al my life (I suggest a trip to google scholar if this appeals to you, but be weary much effort is required, it is very easy, I mean lazy, to let other people think for you..) I get all my knowlege from the sources themselves, no brooklyn filter required.

So as you can see, two JW's fit nicely into a box..... two atheists would not share a box, they would walk freely between the boxes arguing with all the people in the boxes. Peering over the box lid "hey buddy... what you doing ? Are you worshiping HIM ?.... you know he is based on a mesapotanian myth right?" and.... "hey you guys, stop handing out those magazines, did you know that the factory that made them has just been fined for dumping toxic waste in a water drinking source?"..... etc etc....

my wife did a talk last night at the kingdom hall concerning how a god of love could kill people.

she asked me to come with her because she wanted the emotional support.

Breaking the sabbath law was punishable by death.

Jesus broke the sabath law to heal a man, he even pointed out how the religious leaders back then would break it to rescue a lamb in a hole, and he didnt condemn them for it, he PROMOTED IT, for life was more valuble than the law. Duhhh !!!

When Jesus breaks laws punishable by death in order to heal or save it should say enough!Think of all the other laws he broke when healing people, like the lepers, the menstruating woman etc.etc etc......

It is an easy issue to prove ignorant.

Do JW's really believe all the other religions dont know those verses? This is why they take blood!

Its about time they made it a conscience matter and butted out. How little do they know the god of the New Testament (on the whole) if they think saving a childs life would displease him to the level of condeming the person to an everlasting lake of fire.

Thankfully i dont believe in any of it, but it pains me deeply that people still follow this BS.

Also 10/10 garyneal you are more informed than many 'lifers' in the religion. Seriously well done.

Higher Education ... Thoughts, Tips, Money-saving Ideas

while i have a bachelors and advanced degree from a very well-respected university, it makes me cringe when i see what people spend (or think they need to spend) to get a college degree.

having taken a few non-traditional steps to get my education, here's a few thoughts and ideas to think about if your kids are getting to be college age or if you (like many jw's) are thinking about going to college later in life:.

1. community colleges are a bargain!.
