What was the weirdest thing ever said to you as a JW?

i was about 8-10 years old and twice i had people tell me that i should not pioneer but to go to bethel because i "was governing body material".. one was a co and another a do.. i didn't even believe in god, never have so that makes it weird!.

When I went to the elders to say why I was leaving the religion, I told them of everything I had come to know... The UN scandal, the rand cam scandal.

I could tell they had been briefed on these issues due to their lack of response when I described them..... Their first retort was that Jehovah was using me to clean his organisation.....

One hour later.......

I also had deep theological questions aboutn following the spiritual guidance of people who admit themselves are not spirit inspired and have made errors in such a manner that they agreed I had on occasion taught false teachings, due to agreeing with this 'governing body'. I asked them "is it not better for me to read the bible, interpret its intention and then face god for my decisions, rather than get to the day of judgement and say I can't explain why I did x or y, I was ..lust following orders'" after they churned that over I asked for confirmation that the governing body had no special ability in interpreting scripture....same as everyone else. They agreed. I asked how the society could gamble with donated money on the stockmarket? I was told the brothers were using Satans money to further Jehovah's work..... I asked if they really thought god needed Satans money and whether deep down that sounded right to them?

I was asked politely to not attend the meetings anymore whilst I felt like this and then sneekily removed as best man from an up coming wedding. So ended my work for the Watchtower book company.

The craziest answer I ever got as a JW...."jehovah is using you to clean the organisation"... They didn't believe it themselves. I had stopped going years before. From hero of the organisation to evil slave in one hour.

I think the bone deep Watchtower followers will think nothing of it. I can imagine lots of them asking their kids if they want to make god sad or Satan happy over the most mundane of things.... Like watching The Simpsons or some other bullshit.

I am doing some research in university on non-belief of evolution amongst scientists. If you want to show her some interesting facts, have a look at the 2009 poll by Pew Research group.

It is a very comprehensive study on what people believe and why. They found that lack of education and church attendance correlated with not believing in evolution.

Probably the most interesting statistic for me was that most people that deny evolution also believe scientists have no consensus on evolution. The reality is that 97% of scientists DO agree that evolution took place. The stats are all in this paper. Print off this study for your mum and ask her for proof that the majority of scientists deny evolution.. Ask her for a paper, poll etc, any evidence at all. Here is the paper (worth reading guys)

The National academy of sciences have a great booklet explaining the best ideas we have and the evidence they are based on. The booklet also explains that the majority of scientists accept evolution...... but....debate it's mechanisms in specific specialities. They say that religious people often quote these debates and represent them as scientists debating evolution itself. The booklet is a great and informative piece of work, print it off for your mum too! This guy in he video does not say what he is a doctor in and where he got his doctorate. He is not a medical doctor and you can only get a phD if you publish a paper, he has not.

You realise he is talking garbage...

Literally what he is saying is not only wrong in terms of basic science..... it is mental! He has written no scientific papers, just his own books. HE says he heels via 'God' in his book and despite modern medicine being EVIDENCE based medicine, he has his own idea... instinct based medicine.

Cancer is not one disease, it is several. There are MANY malfunctions that lead to many different cancers,

As for NATURAL healing, drugs are NATURAL. Radiation is NATURAL. Cancer is NATURAL. Cancer is a result of evolution, mutations in genes. This is what makes us individuals and what allows evolution, but has a down side... cancer. The very same process renews your cells so that every 10 years you are a complete new YOU. However when this goes wrong = cancer. All cancer is, is cells replicating to often and then forming a mass. This mass then squashes important organs and blood vessels etc. Cancer also can damage the organ it arises in and obviously cancers can spread.

This is PURE quackery. Pharmaceuticals dont have all the answers, just as nobody does. But the same chemical process goes on whether you buy a drug from a pharmacy as chewing a leaf, only from a pharmacy there is a specific dose, its regulated and its designed to take the drug to the right area of the body.

Dont take my word for it, but before you give this guy money, go and buy "BIOLOGY" by Campbell and Reece and you can see for yourself how confused this man is. ITs like hearing a mechanic sell a cure for engine failure, and at the start of his conversation saying "engines need fuel, fuel is carbon based remains from dinosaurs... by putting this T-rex tooth on your dashboard your car will feel more at ease with the fuel that flows through its system...."
