i read the latest magazines, paticularly the awake on higher education.

it has been some years since i read the magazines and i was gob smacked.

there is clearly a new approach in writing.

I read the latest magazines, paticularly the Awake on higher education. It has been some years since I read the magazines and I was gob smacked. There is clearly a new approach in writing. I would go so far as to say they must have a whole new writing staff/dept. It looks like they regularly read forums such as this as so many points of argument in the magazine came with flavours of explination to modern issues in the JWs. For examp,e it talksabout the prophecy of great earthquakes.... Gone are the lies and false statistics... Now they openly say they are due to large populations in earthquake zones etc. an argument that is udes to defend no great increase in earthquakes by ex JWs and atheists denying that verse.

The article on education is such a sly move. They can refer to that magazine in the future, they evenn have 18 year olds discussing homework, implying higher education al the while they are sending out letters to the ongregations in private, with instruction that pioneers and elders will be pnished for promoting higher eucation. Surely the writing department sees this sly hypocrisy!

I felt vey uncomfortable reading the mags again, the contents just felt deliberatly filtered and diluted with a twist of deception. To write like that one would have to first know the issue discussed, think on how it can be maipulated to support the WT and then written. T think that peopke in the writing department are doing that makes my skin crawl....

Also who are thy to give advice on education! Not one sentance suggests critical appraisal, lesson 1 in education! Question, question, question and seek the evidence!

One article later in the magazine encourages parents to monitor their kids access to the news..... WTF! It ends with a neat article on facebook and how facebook can store your info and details.... Guess what... FB is not compulsory, its a free service you can use or not use. Also, what evil plans and statuses are we supposed to be concerned about FB knowing? ... This little article reads like something from N.Korea.

The edication article ends with a page or two for parents, its a nudge and a wink to let everybody know that nothing has really changed...

Who are these people to have ANY say in the goals of a child! Even the parents should allw the child to choose, itstheir life, their future! It is all so distasteful.

Its about self development, learning, a passion for a subject! How dare these people narrow the dreams and passions of children. They have never experienced the pleasure of education! Ironically, some of the gov body kids have, never mind their lawyers....

A disturbing read. They are attempting to give the JWs a new face, by releasing public literature that contradicts the congregational life. That cant last. It is also innacurate. I am studying medicine for £1500 a year in fees. The NHS pays two if the 6 years and I have been let off one year of fees due to a local scheme. Medicine is by far the most expensive due to the number of years of study. Yet you will pay off the 'debt' within your first year or tw if work. Not only that you have until you are 50 to pay it off if you so wish. This is the same for all degrees in the UK. Some countries like Scotland have free university education. The Watchtower really have no right to intefere or pretend its aout sound financial decisions, its not even true...

Average UK graduate salary is £25,000 ($41000) at age 21!

Well Sulla, im sold.... Your respOnse that you and others know about the contradictions and immoral activity in the bible, somehow negates all the issues. Wow. Which church should I sign up to? How are you not a muslim Sulla? Surely any contradictions, immoral issues etc can be overlooked in the Quaran too?! Scientology?..... LOTS of people know about Xenu now and been as you argue that knowing the issues somehow overides them... Shall we all go buy E-meters?

You think you're clever, you dont understand the bible, you read it out of context, smarter people than you believe it.... Etc etc... All lazy answers, ironcally heard a million times also, similar to the bible issues. Shame you were not around when people were being indoctrinated to make them aware of the genocidal, racist, sexist, slavery celebrating, homophobic, jealous, angry, demander of worship and blood sacrifice...

P.s. plenty of smart people have been treating fevers with natural remedies and medication for centuries, people a lot smarter than all of us. But now we know its a defence mechanism to denature bacteria. Intelligence and number of practitioners means nothing in the matters of truth.

A new hope in the fight against superbugs

just managed to download this week's episode of bbc's horizon science programme (which is always bloody brilliant, you can catch it on the bbc site, on iplayer, or on torrents), which was about the fight against bacterial staff infections in hospitals.

it's a thing i've been worried about for a long time, as i've been aware that doctors recently are lamenting that antibiotics are becoming less effective, and they can't create new ones quick enough.

stories were going around that in the very near future we won't have any antibiotics left in the fight against bacteria.. one way they've discovered is to use a particular virus which wipes out bacteria by invading it, and replicating itself inside the cell until it dies.. also, it turns out that scientists in a lab in noo joisey have discovered that bacteria communicate among one another using chemical signals.

i can't stop playing skyrim.

i was never into this stuff before and never thought i would be.

My friend suggested skyrim... I was Wandering through the first little village, having explored a little, i liked the feel of the place but wasnt convinced about the game...... Then a dragon showed up and scared the be'jesus out of me, my pesky arrows did nothing as he burned my ass... I remembered that the village had guards, so i took a gamble on the game writers ability and legged it to the village, low and behold the dragon followed me. To my suprise, the villagers all ran inside screaming... Thenran back out with weapons in hand, we all attacked it, it hit the ground, i aimed my bow at its head and i fired.... Then for the first time the game went into slow mo as my arrow flew through the air and ended the life of the dragon.... To the face!

Now I saw what all the fuss was about. Sadly I cant play often as my degree is 'in the way'. But i hate ice trolls and i love having a sleep after a long day lol.

If you like this, i suggest you try Mass Effect. play number 2 and 3. For me though, best game ever has to be Half Life 2, best moment being the Half Life music kicking in as you see your suit again. I lurv video games.... Ps Battlefield 3 is also awesomeballs!

Dawkins tells of a story where a famous woman's mother read she was an atheist in a newspaper article.

"I dont mind you not believing in god, but an atheist!?" the mother asked her on the phone.

The bible is flawed. The history behind the bible is enlightening and fills in all the gaps. Islam is based on the bible (read the Quaran). So what re your options? Zeus? Ra? Baal ?.......

The idea of god is only widespread today because of the bible. Is there a creative force out there? Nobody can say for sure, but there does not seem to be any evidence for one so far.

I had the same feelings when I first sat and read the bible, despite 15 years in the JW's and feeling I knew it well, I realised it was a foreign book to me. Even the famous stories.. so much was missing in my knowledge. Lot survived, his wife turned into a pillar of salt... thats where the story books stopped. But in the bible he went on to have drunken sex with his daughters. King david and bathsheba, their romp led to the death of a baby. King solomon and all his prostitutes.... The two accounts of creation in Genesis... even things like Moses being the supposed author of the first 5 books, yet he is clearly written about in the 3rd person. Even his death and events after it are noted! What about Jesus's lineage to David as recorded in the gospels... it starts with David and ends with Joseph..... BUT Joseph was not his father !

One thing is for sure, the best way to stop believing in the bible, is to read it start to finish... garbage!

Its astounding what a bit of education, determination and research can do for your life.

I look at JWs and just feel so sorry for them now. Their one chance at life, spent working for free on behalf of a publishing company, the smell of an invisible carrot of all human concerns resolved, dangled in front of their nose.... Impossible to ever taste or experience.... It doesnt even exist.

All that advertising work they do for nothing more than a pyramid scheme of power, the more you put into the publishing company, the more authority yo get in its lower rankings. The more you give, the more power you have to police the giving of others.

Its just so sad. Probably the worst thing to observe now, is just how many young kids are being taken out of school. Doomed to menail work and low pay because of this nonsense. If they ever get out, their lives are still gonna be real tough. I am amazed at how many middle aged and younger couples are on welfare amongst the JWs nowadays. What a destructive life. For the sake of me and my family, I cant tell you how much better it is to be out.

How to talk to an Elder (Need help ASAP)

so if i went up to a local congregation and knocked on the door how would i get to talk to an elder about my mother in law.... i have no interest in being a witness.
