  Theists, why does God allow suffering..

  ..specifically, the suffering of animals.

  you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

  i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

  Because death is essential to life, it is a cycle of energy trsnfer.

  Animals have evolved fantastic means to kill and consume., research the TROPHIC LEVELS of life. I appreciate this is a scientific explanation, not religious. It depends if you want the true answer or not. Life csnnot rxist without desth ss proven by every living thing,

  The jewish shepherds didn't know physics, so the answer isnt in their scrolls. it is a basic concept of energy, it can be altered but neither created or destroyed. Everlasting life consumes everlasting energy, there is not enough energy to have that.

  To demand to live forever is to deny others to live. Ignoring this issue is to live in bronze age ignorance, akin to agreeing that adam was the first man 6000 years ago, simply impossible and rediculous.

  Thinking of visiting a Kingdom Hall after 20 years in disguise

  i have been to my old kh for 2 funerals since i left 20 yrs ago but i don't think they count.

  so i am thinking of visiting a different hall on a sunday for the public talk and wt study.

  i want to go just to remind myself how simple minded it is and to hopefully help me appreciate how wonderful and free my life now is.

  Tell them you are a visiting bro, get a friend to come with a camcorder....then after the meeting ask to talk to the elders in the back, tell them you are on the 'undercover boss' tv program and that you are a new member of the gov body Checking out your biatches...... This is when to put the giant banana suit on....

  Tell them their service was sh1t and that they are all fired..... Slap any gobby ones in the face to set an example. Then hand out free bananas to the 'good ones'..

  if they look confused, tell them this is a new 'top down' managment stratergy i.e. it is all new light..

  Tell them that they now know the name jehovah is a mashup of ywhw and the vowels from adonai (lord) and so now we are all to be known as ....

  'Bananas Witnesses' then high 5 them all and leave....

  Musings about different types of atheist!

  a thought that occurs to me is that if one has the belief that all that is real is only explicable in terms of particles and forces, and that nothing exists that is not one of these, then good and bad doesnt exist either, the same would be true for any concept for that matter.

  or perhaps it is only true when reduced to the level of matter and forces, but without the moral force, meaning and purpose that such a materialist only description would entail.

  after all, if death is forever, which is materialist view, then what does it matter if a seventy or seven year old enters the grave?

  These posts have totally gone off topic from the original thread title that long ago died. Can you gutys debate quantum physics under a different thread so as to not confuse the issues for new readers please?

  i ask politely and with respect, just because the various types of atheists and the largely unknowm and unquantifiable quantum physics are so different in topic yet may be perceived as 'on topic' to someone who doesn't realise the ins and outs of atheism. It has gone off track by some light years, so its probably best hey.

  This VERY deceitful method is apparently being used now inn the UK, in the south. Maybe it is one of those local crazy fads,seen in JW's. But apparantly it isn't.

  So anyone know much about it?

  also 'go bags'... A bag with a tent, food, supplies etc in case of great trib, armageddon or a disaster. Apparantly that is big in the south of uk now too. I asked if its just an odd few, but apparantly not,, many have gone ahead and done it.

  any iinfo on this too?

  man JW life seems so wierd to me nowadays....

  1. announcements about "simplifying arrangements" worldwide, consolidations, moving operations from one country to another.

  a smoke screen for shutting down facilities and laying off workers.

  Nah this is not real, they would never say number 2 or 4 they sound awful No matter how it is squared away, thry don't want to hear sbout money, money, money or dumping missionaries on the kerb, despite it all happening.

  Also I heard much of the Warwick project is being subcontracted to non JW construction teams, may e they will ask for assistance a little later on, though they may mention it.

  They may put a spin on downsizing as I know even hardened JW's are confused over the closing down of facilities, reduction in mags, some are still bemused by the book study going. I can't see how they can spin both 'the end is coming' and 'we are slowing things down' ....people are not stupid, they know that efficiency is not increased by halfing mags and closing bethels, that is halfing literature output not increasing efficiency.

  As for the new bible, I would be blown away if they did this... Unless it is just a change in style and not a new version. A new style will be an anticlimax for the listeners, a nee version will spark,lots of questions about what on earth they have been sharing with people for the last 50 years!

  One thing is for sure, it is guaranteed to be s huge anti climax for the people listening in. Hopefully it will demystify the Gov Body too, just men...

  if the original announcement still hold for this weekends 'open' annual meeting, it will be streamed live to (only) english speaking members.

  is this still the plan?.

  i'm interested in hearing from all on the forum where 'their' program will be broadcast.. our local kingdom hall will be live streaming the meeting.. .

  JW's will be thinking it is an announcment about Armageddon and just how tired the feel, wanting the WT grind to end... how sadly dissapoined they will be. Especially following all the hype...

  A diret feed to the governing body? Ohhhh

  Oh... another book.

  I actually think it will do them good to hear and see the gov body, I only recently saw their taks on youtube, what a bunch of nasty, coporate, ignorant men that clearly are spinning out their personal opinion and nothing more.
