Hardest most awkward parts of being mentally out but physically in
by BU2B ini am still physically in but am completely out mentally.. i was curious for those who spent some time in the borg while being mentally out or are still in that position, what is the worst, hardest or most awkward parts... for me i intensly dislike attending the meetings however its bearable as i can just let my mind wander, but field service is awful.
i cannot try to bring someone in to a group that i am trying to plot a way out of.
so now i try my best to either spend the day driving around to others fruitless rv's (we have somewhat rural territory) or eating out at an extended breakfast or if door to door cannot be avoided, i try to work alone and not ring bells.

"It's a fact that people HERE read the WT publications much more diligently than the R&F at the KH."
Of course. They are trained to merely skim the publications over and agree. If they ARE going to to intensive research it had better be for the purpose of showing the points in the article to be true. Any other kind of due diligence and true research would be construed as "critical thinking".

Yeah....you need to find a way to quit service. I did for 4 years before I officially faded. honestly though.....I found the meetings to be quite intriguing. Most witnesses are in a zombie like state of agreement for the meetings with what is being said from stage going in one ear and out the other. When I "woke up"......I paid better attention to what was being said than I ever had before. It was THEN that I was able to focus on all the mind control techniques, and logical fallacies that come from the stage. Eventually....though......I couldn't take the governing body worship sessions anymore so I had to quit the meetings altogether

Ten Years From Now .......
by Phizzy inwhat with the very low baptism rate, many leaving, many waking up and staying in for now, but not "zealous" any more, the wt/jw religion/scam is without doubt moribund.. i do not foresee a sudden end to the wt but what will it look llike in ten years time ??.
the late teens/early twenty year olds of today will i think be very thin on the ground as 30 year old jw's, so my view is that in ten years time it will be mainly old hardcore ones ,50 yr old and up, and even they will be aware that the org.
is dying..

"so my view is that in ten years time it will be mainly old hardcore ones ,50 yr old and up, and even they will be aware that the Org. is dying."
I think the sad reality is that the older ones will look at the dying organization as "proof" that end is ever closer.

Welcome!
"I wanted help and didn’t want to go to AA or any other program that helped with addiction as I believed what I was told about them being “their own religion” and part of “Babylon the great” I was told to rely on Jehovah and pray, pray, pray. "
Tis the problem w/ being a witness. You are taught to let a janitor and a bus driver help you sort out your problems. Are they qualified? Of course not.....but hey.....they have the help of the Great Flying Spaghetti Monster in the sky!

"Scriptural divorce"
by ilikecheese inso i was talking to my boyfriend about the whole jw scriptural divorce idea.
i made the point initally that i think when jesus was talking about reasons to get divorced, he was more or less just trying to discourage divorce for frivilous reasons.
you have to admit that there are a lot of people out there who just don't put much effort into it and just give up.

This is an interesting topic because it shows you how arbitrary JC decisions are. Just like you can be DFd for anything that 3 elders agree upon......in the same manner.....anything can be approved or disapproved based on what 3 elders agree upon. If the 3 elders WANTED to let a person out of their marriage they can find a way.

Cedars' "Makeweight" Scenario
by What Now? incedars' "makeweight" scenario posed as a question:.
can you show me one scripture that supports the idea that the holy spirit would deliberately feed god's servants untrue information or a flawed understanding of scripture as a "makeweight" until actual truth would be revealed at a later date?
is there a biblical principle that justifies jehovah dealing with his servants in such a way?.

don't get me wrong....I love the make-weight scenario. But you're right. It only works if the person is ready to confront their beliefs with fact. If they aren't ready....then it too will fail

"She used that argument against the 1975 fiasco...saying that the society probably never saw the verse that says 'no one will know the time or day' (Matthew 24:36). "
What???? I would have gone APE SHIT with that one. This is supposed to be God's one and only organization.....picked by Christ f***ing Jesus himself.....and they were unaware that verse was in the bible? The organization was around for almost 100 years at that point and they had NO IDEA that the very one that selected them as the only true religion is also the one that SAID THOSE WORDS? That alone is evidence that Christ didn't choose them! It isn't like these words were hidden in Nahum the 2nd chapter (even if they were it would matter). These words were written in one of the gospel accounts! Give me your mom's phone number.....I need to call her.

"I would have been embarrassed to offer that as a precedent for increased light, even during my deepest indoctrination!"
Some are more indoctrinated than others. I am willing to bet that even in your most indoctrinated state......you were still a THINKER. REASON dictates that the above example is ridiculous.....which is why someone like you would have trouble stomaching it. There are different levels of indoctrination within this cult. There are those that want explanations like the Bereans. These people are trouble makers. There are those that have trouble accepting weak and unbiblical explanations from the society. These people are better than the trouble makers but still aren't fully indoctrinated. Then there are the ones that happily accept any and all explanations......rationalize anything and everything to support the organization and happily use the thought stopping cliche "who are we to question Jehovah's organization?" when they cannot explain their position on a matter.
It is these latter ones that proudly use the Jacob vs Esau example. And if the person they are talking to doesn't accept it as being a perfect example of Jehovah using improper teachings in a proper way (I can't believe I just said that).....then obviously that person isn't "being drawn by Jehovah".
I am telling you man.......my FIL is the perfect indoctrinated JW. If the governing body came to his house and executed his family he would say "wow....they must have been practicing some sort of horrible secret sin. I wasn't expecting that....but who am I to question the righteous activities of Jehovah's organization?" He would then think it is his duty to help them engage in theocratic warfare by covering up the slaughter.
